Coronation Street legend ‘confirms' Emmerdale crossover role

Jack P Shepherd who has played the iconic character of mischievous David Platt since 2000 has teased he could be taking part in the Corrie and Emmerdale special.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner appears to be the first soap star to "confirm" their involvement in the one-hour segment, announced by ITV last month.
When catching up with Digital Spy at the British Soap Awards recently, Jack let slip the exciting news on the red carpet.
When the actor was asked if he will be involved in the 'unprecedented' episode, which will see characters from both soaps come together in a celebration of the soap genre, he 'confidently' replied: "Yes!"
But Jack's Weatherfield co-star Ben Price (David's brother Nick Tilsley), interrupted: "Are you meant to say that?"
Jack responded: "I don't know!"
Ben then advised his on-screen sibling not to give any details away, to which Jack continued: "I don't know if I am. Not for a fact, I don't.
'The big key hitters, I think they might have been told. There's rumours – and I'm sniffing that I might be in the periphery."
He then joked: "With my Yorkshire accent. I think I'm in it, talking Yorkshire and they're like: 'Where are you from? Are you from Bradford?'"
Jack's soap tease might be the news some viewers have been wanting for, as one posted on X: "corrie and emmerdale crossover episode. I need david platt & ross barton , charity & tracy , mandy & carla oh the possibilities."
The "mash-up" of two of the nation's most beloved soaps is set to air on ITV next year and will be the first of its kind in British soap history.
It will mark the broadcaster's new 'power hour' of soap which begins on ITV1 and STV in January 2026.
ITV said the producers, scriptwriters and production teams have 'conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, but with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire'.

It explained: 'The episode will be self-contained, but the consequences of the high-stakes drama will have repercussions for both communities and see them linked forever as familiar faces depart and exciting new characters arrive into both soaps.'
This month, Corrie and Emmerdale fans will be given the chance to vote for two characters (one from each soap) that they would like to see interact in a scene.
Details will be launched in June via Coronation Street and Emmerdale's Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts, so keep an eye out if you want to get involved.

Sue Cleaver's real reason for leaving Corrie as Eileen exits after 25 years

Sue Cleaver's final scenes as Eileen Grimshaw will air during tonight's Coronation Street - but why did the actress decide to leave after 25 years? It's set to be an emotional night in Coronation Street tonight as Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) waves goodbye to Weatherfield after 25 years. It was previously revealed that the star would be leaving alongside her on screen son, Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) who made his return upon Sue's request. Sue recently confessed in an interview that she'd called close friend Ryan, begging him to come back for her final storyline - an offer he could not refuse. ‌ In January, Sue announced that she'd be leaving the soap after playing Eileen Grimshaw for 25 years - expressing why she felt now was the time to say goodbye. ‌ "I've had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street," Sue said in a statement shared with the media. Explaining the reasoning behind her departure, the star went on to say: "The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly." Despite saying she "adored" her time on the show, she realised it was time to take on new projects. During her time on Coronation Street, Sue had embarked on a number of projects outside of the show. Before announcing her exit, she had an extended period of leave from the show to take part in the theatre production of Sister Act as as Mother Superior. In 2024, she became a panellist on ITV daytime chat show, Loose Women. Sue will be dearly missed by her Corrie colleagues, as executive producer Kate Brooks said in a statement: "We're sad to bid farewell to the wonderful Sue Cleaver. Over the past twenty five years, Eileen Grimshaw has been at the heart of some of the most memorable and iconic Corrie storylines, and her onscreen rivalry with Gail Platt (Helen Worth) will undoubtedly go down in Corrie folklore. ‌ "There's certainly no one quite like Eileen, and her character will be hugely missed on the Cobbles. We wish Sue all the very best as she embarks on her next exciting chapter." Ahead of her big exit airing on ITV - eager fans who watched the episode on ITVX have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter to express their thoughts on the exit. One emotional fan penned: "Wow todays episode of Corrie had me happy crying what an ending for an iconic character. I'm gonna miss Eileen Grimshaw so much. Thank you Sue Cleaver for 25 incredible years."

Emmerdale who helps Robert Sugden 'bring down' villain John 'confirmed'

Emmerdale star Mike Parr teased a possible teaming up twist for his character Ross Barton and Robert Sugden on the ITV soap, amd it might be bad news for killer john Sugden Two characters could team up to take down Emmerdale villain John Sugden, and one of them might be a little unexpected. Robert Sugden is hotly tipped to target his love rival and half-brother John, following John's wedding to his ex Aaron Dingle. Ryan Hawley reprised his role in a major twist six years after he left the show in a recent episode. ‌ Robert is soon returning full-time, and fans are so ready for him to possibly uncover the truth about John's crimes, including the murder of Nate Robinson. But will another character team up with Robert and help him target John in a twist? ‌ One cast member certainly thinks it would be a good twist when we quizzed them about the possibility of it happening. Mike Parr, who plays Ross Barton, spoke exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards. He teased Ross could tease up with Robert in a separate plot, to possibly pave the way for the return of Robert's son and Ross' stepson Seb. But we took the moment to see how far Ross and Robert teaming up could go, and whether it could lead to the characters trying to bring down killer John. We asked about whether Ross might help Robert to get John, and he said: "Ooh yeah that would be good! If they can take him out to stop him taking other people out. John is always there at the right time, no one's noticed that yet." With Ross actor Mike keen to see the pair join forces, could it lead to a twist with John? As for the plot with Seb, Mike shared: "That was my first question. "I thought surely either we are gonna be fighting over this kid or we will try to get him back. I don't know which I would rather, I mean I tried to shoot him, he stole my weed the last time he was there. ‌ "They are always fighting but they might be a good team to work together, and maybe it would be good if they did join forces." Mike also addressed the return of Robert, saying it was exciting for the fans. He shared: "When you get a character who you maybe haven't always been involved with but you know it's gonna be a huge positive for the show, it's going to be huge. For the audience it's so important, and it's someone they're loud over. "I knew that they would be over the moon and I'm so happy for them." Viewers are hoping for a Robron reunion for Robert and Aaron now that they are both back in the village. It's not just viewers though, with stars Natalie J Robb and Bradley Riches clearly backing the reunion too. They told us at the awards: "Hashtag Robron!"
