BC Welfare Assn meets Guv over 42 pc quota bill
Hyderabad: The BC Welfare Associations appealed to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to get the consent of BC quota bill from the President without any amendments.
A BC leaders delegation called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and thanked the latter for forwarding the BC bill to enhance the quota in education and jobs to 42 per cent to President Droupadi Murmu for her consent recently.
On this occasion, the Association leader Jajula Srinivas Goud said that they discussed the caste census held in Telangana State, the BC Bill unanimously passed in the Assembly on BC reservations, as well as the recent decision of the Central Government's announcement to undertake a comprehensive caste census along with national census across the country.
He said that the Governor was requested to use his special powers to get the 42 per cent BC Reservation Bill approved, as well as to lift the 50 per cent limit imposed on social reservations in the country, and to set up a separate ministry for OBCs at the Centre.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were among those who offered the prayers at Hazratbal. Smaller gatherings were reported at all Muslim places of worship across the valley, except for the historic Jamia Masjid in the old city, as the authorities refused permission to hold prayers at Eidgah. Thousands of sheep, goats and other animals were sacrificed across the valley according to the tradition, they said. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha greeted the Muslim community on the occasion. A police official said Eid prayers passed off peacefully, and there was no report of any untoward incident. Authorities in Srinagar barred Eid prayers from taking place at the Eidgah ground and the Jama Masjid in the old city, while Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq claimed that he was put under house arrest. In Jammu city, large crowds gathered at mosques and Eidgahs to offer special prayers across the ten districts of the region, with the largest congregation offering namaz at the Eidgah. Other smaller congregations were held at various mosques throughout Jammu, including the Mecca Masjid. Special prayers were held at masjids to mark the 'festival of sacrifice', and livestock were slaughtered at abattoirs and places designated by the civic authorities. Gaiety blended with solemnity as a large number of Muslims in Bhopal offered prayers at mosques and the Eidgah to mark Eid-ul-Adha. A senior cleric said prayers were offered for the people of Palestine and the protection of India's borders from enemies. Shahar Qazi Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi and Maulana Hassan Khan led the prayers at Bhopal Eidgah and Taj-ul-Masajid, respectively. Wearing traditional attire and prayer caps, devotees, including children, gathered in large numbers to participate in special prayers. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended their best wishes on the occasion. "Heartfelt congratulations to everyone on Eid-ul-Adha. No meaningful work done for people by AAP govt in Punjab: Haryana CM Saini
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini lashed out at the AAP government in Punjab on Saturday, alleging that it has not done any meaningful work for the welfare of people. Saini further claimed that the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab "no longer enjoys any public support" and said in the June 19 Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll , people will decide in the right direction. Saini visited Sangrur on Saturday to condole the death of veteran Akali leader and former Union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa . He met Dhindsa's son and former Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and expressed his grief. Talking to reporters in Sangrur, the Haryana chief minister alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab was formed on a "foundation of lies". "This government has neither done any meaningful work for the welfare of people nor does it have the will to work. Now, the people of Punjab have understood this truth," he claimed. Live Events The Mann government has "completely failed" to fulfil the promises it had made to people during elections, Saini said. He said the AAP has been exposed in Delhi, because "lies do not last long". "It no longer has any public support in Punjab and in the Ludhiana West bypoll, people will decide in the right direction," he said. Saini launched an attack on Punjab Chief Minister Mann, saying he should work for the welfare of people rather than indulging in "theatrics". Referring to the Ludhiana West bypoll, he said the voters have made up their mind that Punjab should also move ahead at a fast pace under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The bypoll to the Ludhiana West Assembly seat in Punjab is scheduled to be held on June 19 and the counting of the votes will be taken up on June 23. The Ludhiana West seat fell vacant following AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi's death in January. Saini accused the AAP government of not implementing the Centre's welfare schemes in Punjab and depriving people of their benefits. Talking about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana, Saini said for the last 11 years, public welfare schemes are being implemented effectively under the leadership of Modi. He said the Haryana government is purchasing all crops from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Similarly, the Punjab government should also worry about the farmers of the state and give them a fair price for their crops, he said. Saini said in the event of crop loss due to natural calamities, the Haryana government has provided a total compensation amount of more than Rs 15,500 crore to farmers in the last 10 years. Besides, vegetable-growing farmers are being given relief under the "Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana", he added. The people of Haryana are also getting the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana , while the people of Punjab are being deprived of those, he said.
