There is a pair of new smart glasses on the block. Singapore-based tech company Brilliant Labs, known for its near-eye display platforms, recently unveiled its latest smart glasses. Named Halo, the wearable offers a new approach to displays in smart glasses. It is also dubbed as the world's thinnest smart glasses with a built-in AI.
Halo has been designed to feel like a regular pair of glasses. It is essentially a fusion of sleek design and AI features. At about 40 grams, it is lightweight and reportedly comes with a full-colour display, advanced sensors, bone conduction speakers, etc. However, the most notable aspect of the device is its AI assistant, Noa, that is able to listen to conversations in its surroundings, sees objects, and remembers them as well. Reportedly, the AI assistant is also capable of building apps for the user.
Perhaps what sets the new device apart from the company's earlier smart glasses is its tiny display module that the user looks into in the eyeglasses frame. The company seems to have worked on the concept of offering a user both audio and a colour display for visual data. Brilliant Labs had early on introduced Monocle, which was among the smallest virtual reality glasses, and another device named Frame.
As of now, Halo is in the pre-release stage, and, it is yet to reveal its full SDK or hardware details. On the other hand, Noa is an open-source AI assistant that has been built for true real-time conversations. Noa can see what's happening around a user and respond to them like a human in a conversational way. The company claims that no matter how busy the surroundings, Noa listens and delivers useful insights on the go.
Halo is currently available for $299 in matte black, and the company is likely to begin global shipping by late November. Moreover, users can also buy prescription lenses.
When it comes to memory, Halo comes with something known as a narrative system that creates agentic memory. In simple words, it is like a daily AI journal. The system uses Halo's sensors to record daily experiences and reportedly maintains them as a context-aware memory system. According to Brilliant Labs, this system allows Noa to understand a user's preferences, routines and the people they come across. With this, Noa can recall details about a person the user met minutes or even years ago.

The company claims that it has built protection into every layer of the device. Reportedly, NOA converts all data inputs into secure, irreversible mathematical representations. It does not store any rich media, including audio, video or images, and the makers assert that nothing is relayed to third parties. The smart glasses endow full control to the user.
Another striking feature of Halo is its Vibe Mode that allows users to build custom AI apps using only voice commands. According to the company, a user simply needs to tell Noa what they want, and it creates an application almost instantly. This makes Halo one of the first developer-friendly smartglasses.
Although the device is slim and lightweight, it reportedly offers up to 14 hours of battery life. The device is powered by a B1 chip from Alif Semiconductor, which is claimed to be among the most efficient chipsets that have been optimised for AI and lower power consumption. Halo comes with a full suite of sensors, microphones, cameras, and speakers, and it is reported to excel at live translation and ambient context recognition.

Bhubaneswar: Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved two major semiconductor manufacturing units worth Rs 4,009 crore for Odisha. The two projects, to be set up in Bhubaneswar's Info Valley, will generate thousands of high-skilled jobs, catalyse electronics manufacturing and help place Odisha on the global semiconductor map, sources said. The two manufacturing units will be built by SiCSem and 3D Glass. Given the growing demand for semiconductors in telecom, automotive, data centres, consumer electronics and industrial electronics, the newly approved projects will significantly contribute to creating an ' Atmanirbhar Bharat ', official sources said. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Cabinet's approval, chief minister Mohan Majhi said in an X post, "The recent amendment of the Odisha Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy, aimed at enhancing investment viability, competitiveness, and sustainability, together with this significant Cabinet approval, marks a major milestone in the state's industrial and technological advancement. I look forward to continued partnership between the state and central govts to further this strategic initiative for the comprehensive development of Odisha and the nation." SiCSem Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with UK-based Clas-SiC Wafer Fab Ltd, will set up India's first commercial compound semiconductor fabrication facility here. The plant will manufacture silicon carbide (SiC) devices, known for their efficiency in high-power applications, with an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and 96 million packaged units. The SiC devices will have applications across critical sectors, including missiles, defence equipment, electric vehicles (EVs), railway, fast chargers, data centre racks, consumer appliances and solar power inverters. The facility is expected to give India a strategic edge in producing next-generation power electronics domestically. The second project, by US-headquartered 3D Glass Solutions Inc (3DGS), will introduce the world's most advanced semiconductor packaging technology. The unit will manufacture glass interposers, silicon bridges and 3D heterogeneous integration (3DHI) modules. The component are crucial for miniaturisation, high performance and energy efficiency in electronics. With a planned capacity of about 69,600 glass panel substrates, 50 million assembled units, and 13,200 3DHI modules annually, the facility will cater to applications in defence, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, RF and automotive electronics, photonics and co-packaged optics. Officials said the two projects will not only bring cutting-edge technology to Odisha but also create a ripple effect in the state's electronics ecosystem, encouraging ancillary industries and boosting technical skill development. Apart from two Odisha projects, the Cabinet also approved one project each for Punjab and Andhra Pradesh under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan hailed the Cabinet's decision to set up the two units in Odisha. He said the decision is a pivotal moment for the state, emphasising its potential to create jobs and generate substantial revenue. Market forces will ultimately prove which forms of tokenizing securities and other real-world assets will win out, Securities and Exchange Commission member Hester Peirce said Tuesday. 'We're willing to work with people who are taking different approaches,' Peirce said about tokenization in an interview on Bloomberg Television. 'We're looking forward to working with folks to try those different models out and see what the markets like.' Peirce noted it will remain critical that companies properly disclose the nature of the assets being tokenized. 'It may be a security with different characteristics and that's something that needs to be conveyed to investors,' she said. A tokenized security is a digital representation of a security — but not direct title to the asset itself — that can be traded on a blockchain network, rather than in a brokerage account. By cutting stocks or other assets into smaller pieces, they can be more affordable to own. Proponents note that trading tokenized securities on blockchain technology would also support 24/7 trading, unlike on traditional exchanges that shutter overnight and on holidays. Peirce, dubbed 'Crypto Mom' by the digital assets crowd, indicated in a statement in July that traditional securities laws would generally still apply to tokenized securities, whether issued directly by a company or by a third-party. Robinhood Markets Inc. is among the most prominent companies pushing for broader adoption of tokenization and announced earlier this year that some of its European-based customers could start trading tokens that represent shares of US equities. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev has since said the firm was in discussions with regulators about the development. Other groups have recently called for a cautious and deliberate approach on tokenization. Trading behemoth Citadel Securities raised concerns about the potential for regulatory arbitrage if the SEC doesn't delineate clear rules for companies that want to tokenize assets to follow. Wall Street stalwarts, including JPMorgan Chase & Co., have noted that broad adoption in tokenizing bonds and other traditional assets hasn't taken off. The market for it is currently valued at just $25 billion, with much of the activity in the space driven by crypto-forward firms rather than traditional banks, brokers and publicly-traded companies, according to a JPMorgan strategists.
