Another Pixel 6a catches fire while charging: What's going on here?
The user posted images on X (formerly Twitter), showing a charred Pixel 6a, a melted charging cable, and burn damage on the bed. According to the post, the phone was charging with its original cable and adapter. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the device is beyond repair.
This isn't the first time
This isn't an isolated case. A similar fire incident involving the Pixel 6a surfaced last year, also during overnight charging. While battery failures happen across all brands, repeated reports around the same model raise obvious concerns.
As of now, there's been no official comment from Google. The Pixel 6a, despite being two generations old, is still widely used in India, often sold under ₹30,000 during sales. That popularity makes safety concerns even more pressing. Multiple fire-related incidents, even if rare, chip away at the trust in an otherwise well-regarded device.
Should you be worried?
If you own a Pixel 6a, this might be the right time to start paying attention. Don't leave your phone plugged in overnight, especially if it tends to heat up. Stick to the original charging accessories, and keep an eye out for signs like swelling, overheating, or erratic charging behaviour.
And if your device shows any of these red flags, don't ignore them. Stop using the phone and get it checked by an authorized service centre. It's more about ensuring basic safety than preserving battery life.
The Pixel 6a has delivered solid performance for its price, but back-to-back fire incidents could mark the beginning of its end in India. If you're still using one, just stay cautious. If you're considering one, maybe look at something a bit more… fireproof.

AI bubble will make more money than it erases: Vinod Khosla to Nikhil Kamath
There is an artificial intelligence (AI) bubble where most investments will lose money, but the winning bet can outweigh them all, stated venture capitalist Vinod Khosla . Speaking to Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath , the Silicon Valley veteran said that there will always be a bubble in opportunity-rich spaces—be it the dot-com bubble in 1998 or the advent of the railroad in England. The true measure was not valuation, but application, Khosla said.'You can't tell where the [dot com] bubble is by looking at internet traffic. If you look at the miles of railroad built, you can't tell when the bubble was in the 1830s. So, what is reality for you? To me, the reality is internet traffic, miles of railroad built, AI applications,' Khosla the bubble will cause most investments to yield poor returns, the ones that do see gains will outweigh the losses, the veteran businessman said. 'AI valuations aren't something I worry about… Even in 2025, most investments that are made will lose money. I might even guess north of 80%. But more money will be made than lost. Of the next thousand startups, 990 can lose money, and you can still make money by investing in the right portfolio.'Considering the large market and scale of global transformation with AI, many more opportunities will arise than seen before, Khosla said. 'That's good news for entrepreneurs and almost certainly most of this won't be done by large companies.'Will Indian IT survive the AI shift?Business process outsourcing and software IT services, as we know them, will 'disappear' in the current AI shift, Khosla said.'Disappear means transform pretty radically. Today I see them [IT companies] adjusting incrementally, not radically,' he said.'If I can do a system integration service for one-fifth of the cost, the customer will always take one-fifth. Will some of these vendors drop their prices by 5x or 80% or at least by 60%, and then expand their services? Hard to tell,' he further said.
