Rangers transfer news as Vaclav Cerny put up for sale, Dessers to AEK fee 'distance' revealed and Igamane latest

Daily Record5 hours ago

It's going to be a busy window at Ibrox and we have the latest on three key men from last season
Vaclav Cerny has been told he is up for sale by Wolfsburg after showdown talks with their new manager Paul Simonis - as AEK Athens need to stump up around £1million if they want to get Cyriel Dessers.
Former Rangers winger Cerny enjoyed an excellent loan spell in Govan, but the Ibrox club didn't have an agreement in place for a purchase option with the Bundesliga club.

He was set to return to pre-season training in Germany and his future hinged on whether the club's new manager, Dutch boss Simonis, would see him as part of his plans.

But reports in Germany have confirmed Cerny is now officially on the transfer list with Wolfsburg having to seriously cut their bloated squad for the new season because of ongoing financial problems with owners, German car giants Volkswagen, who have their headquarters in the Lower Saxony city.
They are planning to lay off around 35,000 of their workforce - a quarter of their entire total - to save an estimated £3.5billion over the next five years.
Those measures have filtered their way back to the football club, who will make severe cuts and trim their playing staff too.
And Cerny has been told he will be allowed to leave, along with Tiago Tomas, who has been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen, with the sale of both of them expected to bring in a sizeable bonanza for Wolfsburg.
Former Celtic defender Moritz Jenz has also been told he is surplus to requirements, along with Bartol Franjic, Nicolas Cozza and Kofi Amoako.

Meanwhile, Dessers remains a target for Greek giants AEK Athens and Record Sport revealed personal terms have been agreed with the player.
But reports in Greece say that there is 'about €1m distance' between the two clubs with talks ongoing for the Nigeria international who is their top target.
Dessers' fellow Ibrox striker Hamza Igamane has also reportedly agreed personal terms with Lille but the Rangers Review say that while the French club have spoken to the player's camp, they have yet to make an official approach over the Moroccan, but say he "is likely to leave" this summer.

Milos Kerkez details Arne Slot talks that persuaded him to make Liverpool move

Liverpool have landed the signing of Milos Kerkez, who joins from Bournemouth, with the defender persuaded to make the move after sitting down with Arne Slot to discuss his role New Liverpool star Milos Kerkez has confessed that conversations with Arne Slot convinced him that Anfield was the place to go as he was shown exactly how he would fit into the Reds' set-up. Kerkez has completed his move from Bournemouth, joining for £40million after a stellar year on the south coast with the Cherries. The left-back will add more competition to the backline with Andy Robertson owning that spot for almost a decade. ‌ The Hungarian had a number of interested parties but met with Liverpool chief Richard Hughes, who had signed him in his previous role at Bournemouth. He went after him for a second time and the influence of Slot became obvious. ‌ Kerkez and the Dutch coach sat down to discuss the possible move and detailed where the player can improve. The Liverpool new boy also underlined the value he got from that conversation and was convinced that Liverpool were the best fit. He told the club's website: 'As everyone knows, [Richard Hughes] brought me to Bournemouth and was [a] big part why I came to Bournemouth. Obviously also [important] is the gaffer – I also had talks with him. I really knew when I talked to him and Richard that this is it for me, so that was my decision. 'We [he and Slot] talked about the tactics and the plan and where he sees where I can improve and where I can help the team. Obviously when [the] coach comes also and talks to you, it's a big thing, it's a big sign of respect. For me, there were no second doubts then that I want to go somewhere else. It was always Liverpool.' Kerkez becomes the third major arrival at Anfield this summer. Jeremie Frimpong will also bolster their defensive options whilst Florian Wirtz has signed from Bayer Leverkusen in a British-record deal worth £116m. Moving to Liverpool had long been a family dream for Kerkez and his nearest and dearest with the reality still yet to set it after the move was completed. 'We talk, me and my brothers, we're always joking but talking honestly,' he said. 'And we say like... I called my brother and I'm talking to my brother that's here and he's like, 'You have a Liverpool kit on, a Liverpool badge' and still like you cannot really believe it. But obviously it's a really honoured moment and a privilege and a happy moment for my family and especially for me.'
