Testwork unlocks NVA's critical potential at Estelle
Special Report: Nova Minerals' ore sorting testwork has put the Australian junior on track to potentially become the first fully integrated antimony producer in the US. Nova Minerals' ore-sorting work demonstrates suitability for scalable, low-cost processing Estelle project identified as one of few projects with near-term antimony production potential Company believes dual gold and antimony production could be a rare and valuable combination Based on the highly encouraging results, Nova (ASX:NVA) has developed a conceptual flowsheet for the onsite recovery and upgrading of the Estelle gold and critical minerals project's antimony ore. Significantly, the results from the Styx prospect at Estelle demonstrate the high-grade nature of the project's ore and its suitability for scalable, low-cost onsite processing of ore into concentrates. An independent report by RFC Ambrian in February 2025 identified Estelle as one of only nine global projects with near-term antimony production potential. Now, on the back of these latest met test results, Nova is continuing with renewed confidence to explore options to establish a US domestic supply chain for antimony in Alaska. An added bonus is that the testwork results also demonstrate a gold recovery of 52.5 per cent, lifting the grade from 1.90 grams per tonne (g/t) 2.99 g/t. This increase of 57.4 per cent demonstrates a strong potential for synergy between antimony and gold processing circuits at Estelle. Beneficiation and purification testwork are underway to develop and refine the rest of the downstream flowsheet. Bulk potential The testwork on a 500kg bulk sample from the Styx prospect at Nova's flagship 9.9Moz Estelle project delivered a 132 per cent upgrade in antimony content. The test produced a 49.1 per cent antimony trisulfide concentrate from a single sorting pass, with 60.3 per cent of contained antimony recovered in just 26.1 per cent of the mass. CEO Christopher Gerteisen said: 'These ore sorting results from our Styx prospect represent a significant breakthrough in the advancement of Estelle's critical minerals strategy. 'Achieving a 132 per cent upgrade to produce a 49.1 per cent antimony trisulfide concentrate from a single pass demonstrates Estelle's high-grade antimony is amenable to low-cost, scalable, on-site processing. 'Importantly, we've shown that 60.3 per cent of the contained antimony can be recovered in just 26.1 per cent of the mass, with gold beneficiating to the tailings – opening up synergies between the antimony and gold circuits at Estelle. 'With this success, we believe Nova is rapidly positioning itself to become the first fully integrated US domestic antimony producer at scale. 'Additionally, the results unlock an exciting dual-stream potential for Estelle. We can now look at extracting high-grade antimony from ore while also recovering upgraded gold from the tailings – a rare and valuable combination.' Nova Minerals' ore-sorting work demonstrates suitability for scalable, low-cost processing Estelle project identified as one of few projects with near-term antimony production potential Company believes dual gold and antimony production could be a rare and valuable combination Strategic asset Antimony is listed as a critical mineral by the US government due to its vital use in military applications, semiconductors, and energy storage – and with current supply dominated by China which has banned exports into the US, Western supply chains are under severe strain. Nova believes its Estelle project – already home to a 9.9Moz gold resource – could now help fill this strategic gap, with antimony-rich prospects such as Styx and Stibium emerging as near-term development candidates. The company is currently engaged with the US Department of Defense through its membership in the Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC) and grant application processes. Gerteisen added: 'In the current geopolitical environment, where Western defence supply chains are under immense pressure, we believe our Estelle Project stands out as a truly strategic asset. 'With Styx and Stibium now confirmed as high-grade, near-term development prospects, and US government engagement well underway through our DIBC membership and DoD grant applications, Nova is fast-tracking a solution to the critical antimony supply gap. 'We are proud to lead the charge in re-establishing domestic production of this defence-essential mineral, and today's results mark another key step toward potentially delivering a secure, U.S.-based supply chain – right here in Alaska.' WGR targets Gold Duke mining by year-end
Special Report: Western Gold Resources has selected local contractor VM Drilling to carry out 35,300m of grade control and infill drilling at the Gold Duke project in WA's Goldfields. WGR appoints local Goldfields drilling contractor for its Gold Duke project Infill drilling program will ensure no additional grade control drilling is needed during production activities Company expects to be mining by the end of 2025 Scoping study update expected in the near term The project hosts shallow free-milling ore, enabling rapid, low-cost open-pit extraction and the company has already secured a binding toll milling agreement with Wiluna Mining Corporation. The plan is for stage 1 production to include 447,000t at 2.55g/t gold for 34,000oz of gold from the Eagle, Emu, Gold King and Golden Monarch deposits. Western Gold Resources (ASX:WGR) said the drilling represented another key step in advancing the Gold Duke Project, building operational momentum as the company moved toward development readiness. The program will provide a high level of flexibility in mine scheduling as all pits will be fully drilled. It will also remove the requirement for grade control drilling when the Gold Duke project is in production, i.e. drill up front, no more to do and less activity on site. The drilling is scheduled for a mid-August start, with mobilisation, execution and duration strongly aligned with Western Gold Resources rapid path-to-production strategy for the project. Mining by late 2025 The 2024 scoping study assumed a gold price of $3500/oz, well below the current Australian gold price above the $5100/oz mark. The company anticipates announcing a significant improvement to the already impressive and robust project economics with a scoping study update expected in the coming weeks. Confidence is only increasing for the projected timeline to begin mining operations late 4Q25. 'We are pleased to partner with VM Drilling, a highly experienced and trusted contractor with a strong track record in the WA Goldfields,' WGR managing director Cullum Winn said. 'Their technical capabilities, local operational base and operational readiness are ideally suited to our development strategy at Gold Duke. 'We look forward to a safe and efficient drilling campaign.' VM Drilling will source much of its workforce from the Goldfields regions, supporting local employment and regional development. Gold futures hit record on US tariff shock, stocks wobble
Gold futures hit a record high Friday after reports of an unexpected tariff on the precious metal, while stock markets fluctuated as investors tracked US President Donald Trump's latest moves. Oil prices added to losses from the previous day on news of a meeting between Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, perhaps as early as next week, which raised hopes of a truce with Ukraine. Gold futures reached a new intraday high at $3,534.10 an ounce after the Financial Times reported that Washington had classified one-kilo bars, the most traded type of bullion on Comex -- the world's biggest futures market, as subject to "reciprocal" tariff rates. One-kilo bars make up the largest part of Switzerland's gold shipments to the United States. Imports from Switzerland face a 39-percent reciprocal tariff from Thursday. The FT said 100-ounce bars would also face the levy. The levy caused "shock and confusion" in markets, said Han Tan, chief market analyst at trading group. The gold future price pulled back to $3 an ounce. Spot gold prices sat around $3,400 an ounce. Saxo Bank analyst Ole Hansen said banks invest in gold futures to protect themselves from price swings in the physical bullion market. As tariffs threaten to raise prices for physical gold, these "short positions originally intended as hedges suddenly blow up", prompting banks to buy back futures and driving prices higher. Wall Street stocks pushed higher, a day after the tech-heavy Nasdaq finished at a fresh record. That kept the market on track for weekly gains near the finale of an earnings season that has generally topped expectations. With most major companies having already reported quarterly results, companies in the S&P 500 are on track for greater than eight-percent growth, compared with the 2.2 percent forecast just ahead of the reporting period, said a note from CFRA Research. CFRA's Sam Stovall said the results had reassured investors, who are "discounting the uncertainties and going along with the expectation that the economy is holding up better than people might be worrying about". In European trading, both London's FTSE 100 and Frankfurt dipped, while Paris stocks edged higher. Japanese stocks led the way on a mostly negative day for Asian markets, fuelled by relief that Tokyo and Washington had settled a tariff issue that raised concerns about their trade deal. "Since the tariff agreement between the US and the European Union, some clarity has emerged, but confusion around its implementation is just beginning to surface," said Jochen Stanzl, chief market analyst at CMC Markets. "In Japan, there is relief today upon hearing that the various tariffs will not be cumulative," he added. The Nikkei 225 stocks index jumped nearly two percent after Japan's tariffs envoy said Washington was expected to revise an executive order that stacked tariffs on top of each other. "However, it remains unclear whether the same rules apply for Japan and the EU," Stanzl added. - Key figures at around 1530 GMT - New York - Dow: UP 0.3 percent at 44,076.64 points New York - S&P 500: UP 0.6 percent at 6,378.57 New York - Nasdaq Composite: UP 0.8 percent at 21,408.81 London - FTSE 100: DOWN less than 0.1 percent at 9,095.73 (close) Paris - CAC 40: UP 0.4 percent at 7,743.00 (close) Frankfurt - DAX: DOWN 0.1 percent at 24,162.86 (close) Tokyo - Nikkei 225: UP 1.9 percent at 41,820.48 (close) Hong Kong - Hang Seng Index: DOWN 0.9 percent at 24,858.82 (close) Shanghai - Composite: DOWN 0.1 percent at 3,635.13 (close) Pound/dollar: UP at $1.3453 from $1.3445 on Thursday Euro/dollar: DOWN at $1.1664 from $1.1665 Dollar/yen: UP at 147.73 yen from 147.07 yen Euro/pound: DOWN at 86.73 pence from 86.76 pence
