Security forces have killed two dreaded leaders of the Naxal renegade outfit, Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad, Pappu Lohara, who was carrying a reward of ₹ 10 lakh on his head, and Prabhat Ganjhu, who was carrying a reward of ₹ 5 lakh in Jharkhand's Latehar district this morning, PTI reported.
Both were leaders of the renegade Naxalite outfit Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad, sources told PTI.
PTI reported citing DIG Palamu, 'Two Maoists, including splinter group chief carrying ₹ 10 lakh bounty, killed in Jharkhand.'
Another dreaded member of the group, who was injured, has been arrested and an INSAS rifle has been recovered from him, the sources told PTI.
The operation is still underway.

1 2 3 Hyderabad: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he had received two telephonic death threats in the name of Maoists. The case, initially registered at Narsingi police station, has been transferred to Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) by the DGP on Tuesday for investigation. According to a complaint filed at Narsingi police station on June 24, Medak MP, Raghunandan Rao's assistant answered a call from an unknown number on June 23 at 1:30 pm while the parliamentarian was attending a school function in Dammayguda. The caller claimed to represent the Maoist party and threatened to kill the MP before abruptly disconnecting. A second call from the same number came minutes later. Acting on the MP's instructions, the assistant placed the handset on speaker and recorded the conversation on another device. "The caller warned that Maoist groups have already started from Madhya Pradesh and they will reach my location by midnight and kill me," the MP alleged. Citing his views on Operation Kagar, terrorism and the debate on madrasas in parliament, Medak MP described the threats as serious and sought immediate police intervention. Chandigarh, Aug 13 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was rescued from getting married at a village in Punjab's Faridkot by a team of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), officials said. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, Baljit Kaur, commended the action taken by officials and stakeholders, stressing that strict enforcement of child protection laws is essential to safeguard the rights of minors. Kaur said that the intervention was carried out under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. The rescued minor from Sangrahoor village was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which provided counselling and issued necessary directions. She was then handed over to her parents after they provided a written undertaking to ensure her safety, education, and overall well-being. Regular follow-up and monitoring will be undertaken to safeguard the best interests of the child. Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab government to making the state child marriage-free, Kaur said continuous efforts are being made to strengthen the system for awareness generation, prevention, and effective enforcement of laws, so that every child can enjoy a safe and bright childhood. The minister also appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to the government in making Punjab free from child marriage. She urged that if anyone has information about a child marriage taking place in their vicinity, they should immediately inform the Child Helpline at 1098, assuring that the identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential. Jaipur, Aug 13 (PTI) Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested an assistant accounts officer and a middleman in Sikar for allegedly accepting bribes to clear pending bills for construction work at a government school in Sikar. The ADG of the bureau, Smita Srivastava, said its Jaipur Rural unit acted on a complaint that officials of the additional district project office, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, were demanding bribes to clear pending Rs 27 lakh bills for the construction of rooms at the school. According to the complaint, Assistant Engineer Khumaram demanded Rs 60,000, while Assistant Accounts Officer Ramchandra demanded Rs 45,000 to pass the bills, the ADG said. Following an investigation, a trap was laid and Khumaram's alleged middleman Kamal Kumar Kumawat was caught taking Rs 60,000 while Ramchandra was caught accepting Rs 40,000, the officer said, adding that Khumaram has managed to flee.
