Modi's eleven years- making of a brave new India

Time of India11 hours ago

The breeze from Indus, a Shiva mantra at Kailas, a trek in Chushul and a chadar walk on frozen Zanskar. All this put together describes Tarun Vijay. He is a former BJP member of Rajya Sabha. The blog revolves around everything that is Mother India and her concerns. LESS ... MORE
Counting number of people benefitted materially and creating impressive graphs to showcase progress of the nation under the leader is not the right and proper way to judge him.
How many of us remember Shivaji for uplifting poor from severe poverty or making houses for the downtrodden? How many roads and water bodies did Maharaja Ranjit Singh create that made him great?
We all remember the great Indian heroes for trouncing the enemies of the nation and protecting Dharma.
Everything else follows naturally- prosperity, flowering of the arts and culture, beautiful landscapes and joy on the faces of the common people.
If nation remains in fear of the enemies and dharma is mocked at by the eliminators of the people and culture like Jihadis and Maoists, nothing good may happen to that land and people. America owes its progress to the leaders who led the people by their example, upheld the lofty ideals of a civilized society and built a new country. They were Lincolns, Jeffersons, Martin Luther Kings and innumerable men and women who recycled the time machine for a nascent country, set new standards and reversed everything that the savage British had left for them- including renaming places, changing voltage use (US 120 volt-UK 230 volt) , rephrasing popular usages like footpath to path ways, US plugs and sockets were made to have a different configuration than those in the UK, turned electric switches' functions reversed, discontinuing the British way-even if that meant initial problems for adaptation by the masses. If the brutal British had switches on- by turning the knob down, newly independent Americans decided to have it the opposite way-bottom to top- , road way commuting was turned right hand drive and language of the country was declared as American-English- changing spellings in such a strong way that today English- British and English -American are globally accepted ways of writing in two different ways. The pride and confidence in being American paved the way to a million flowers blooming in various sectors- making it a great nation.
Same happened to Israel.
The tiny Jewish nation, resurfaced after two thousand years of wait and prayers and struggles, is not great because it developed great technological prowess from the day one. No. It affirmed its true identity, it stuck to its roots, ancient language, it swore to protect nation's soul and core values that Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya in India called as Chiti- the innermost core of a people and the land. It produced true leaders like Ben Gurion and Golda Maier- like the Lincoln and King, showed courage to have Hebrew as their national language- a language that was not in vogue since last two millenniums and the rest followed in a natural way. It became strong and great.
India forgot to eliminate the remnants of British – Moghul colonialism and continued with the slave mindset.
Modi changed the way India was thinking before- it hit hard the colonial mindset- ignited a fire in the hearts of a billion people to march ahead- make progress, shed colonial hangover and be a true, proud, brave Indian. The making of a new parliament, built by Indians for India, is a landmark in our previous millenniums' old history of resistance. The new central vista will herald an Indian dream for Indians created by Indian engineers and labor- not a viceregal palace built by the foreigners as was the old structure. Decolonising armed forces, getting Indian navy a new insignia inspired by Shivaji, reminding the people about the brave heroes like Lachit Barphukan , Suheldev and Ahilya Bai Holkar, getting the courageous war between Arunachal Pradesh's indigenous faith tribes and the British like Anglo Khamti war presented though various channels of media- movies, plays and text books, changing text books and indigenization of the defense production , a spectacular network of roads, bridges, airports and seaports, are just a few initial baby steps of a nation whose march to superior heights of power and glory is now unstoppable.
All this has happened with one mantra- injecting courage in the veins of a nation . We can do the impossible, we will make India great again was the war cry to awaken the people. .
India can do- is the new mantra of the republic. If article 370 and 35 A needed to be removed, India removed it. The voices that ominously warned of 'rivers of blood' if 370 was touched remained conspicuously silent. If Muslim women needed to be unshackled from the curse of triple Talaq, it was done. If the mafia war lords of Mushtaq Ansari type and Maoists needed to be silenced , India did it.
India suffers from a severe memory loss, it forgot or believed that all its ancient past consisted of snake charmers, heathens and pagans and the western education, British colonization civilized us, turned us into a nation.
Modi punctured this colonial savagery in our system and shook our beliefs entering into a new era of regaining Bharat that was called by the foreigners as India. The resurgence of an unprecedented number of books on our hoary past, great achievements, scientific- spiritual innovations, the immense flow of devotees to our Dharmic institutions, festivals, Mahakumbh hasn't happened in a mechanical way. Temple going was never so normal, easy, part of a daily life and universally acceptable as it has been seen these days. It has a reason and a systematic growth in Bhakti and Shakti is comparable to only 1857's resurgence for war of independence.
The amazing rise of the Temple of Rama at Ayodhya is not just a new structure, but the greatest move in reviving our collective memory and rekindling a sense of valour and victory in our veins. Ayodhya has become India and India has merged its identity into Ayodhya.
Modi is made of a material that shines in storms. If a stupid and a lackadaisical opposition fails to create one, he creates one for himself-a new storm – in form of seemingly un- achievable goal and walks a winner. He has a knack to enter the lion's cave alone and count its teeth like Bharat. He remains unfazed in face of defeats and insults and emerges a better man passing through tests by fire. Having known him personally for the last more than three decades and being a witness to his most difficult times in Gujarat- I can say Narendra Bhai is a biggest eliminator of the nation's enemies so far who has shown a courage of a Swayamsevak in the centenary year of his mentor organization the RSS, to face worst storms of his life- storms that were predicted by his opponents as 'enough to end his public life' and he tamed them with a calmness so rarely found in world leaders.
His eleven years are not to be weighed against the material benefits that Indian people have accrued – but by the sense of being strong, powerful and full of 'Can Do' kinda confidence.
Creating a brave new India is his eleven years' gift to Bharat Mata.

Gujarat mourns: Vijay Rupani's hometown Rajkot prepares to bid its beloved neta a final farewell; son submits DNA sample

Vijay Rupani's hometown Rajkot prepares to bid its beloved neta a final farewell RAJKOT/GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government is likely to announce a day-long state mourning in memory of former chief minister, Vijay Rupani , who died in the Air India Ahmedabad-London Dreamliner crash on Thursday. Rupani's son, Rushabh, who arrived from the US early on Saturday, provided DNA samples to assist authorities in identifying his father's mortal remains. Earlier, Rupani's sister submitted samples, but those did not match. "We are awaiting confirmation from the DNA results," a BJP member close to the family said. In Rupani's hometown, Rajkot, preparations are underway for his last rites, with BJP and local authorities organising a grand funeral procession to allow citizens to bid a final farewell to their beloved neta. The procession will begin at his residence in Prakash Society. A prayer meeting is also being planned at Racecourse, although the final decision rests with the Rupani family. Rajkot police issued a notification restricting vehicle movement and parking on the funeral route, anticipating heavy turnout from across the city and nearby villages. "A huge number of BJP workers, traders, and citizens are expected to join the procession," police stated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo BJP said the last rites are planned for Sunday, depending on the timely release of the mortal remains by Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Several markets in Rajkot remained closed on Saturday, as a mark of respect to the departed former CM. Around 600 self-financed schools across Rajkot district also shut down. Throughout Saturday, senior politicians and well-wishers gathered at the Rupani residence in Gandhinagar to express their condolences. BJP said members approached officials multiple times over the last two days, suggesting that Rupani's remains could be identified through a distinctive wristwatch he was known to wear. However, at least two attempts to identify a victim wearing such a watch proved unsuccessful, sources said.

After anti-Trump protests sweep the nation, curfew begins in downtown Los Angeles

Protesters filled plazas, streets and parks across the country Saturday, mounting a mass mobilization that called for protecting American democracy from a president whom many opponents accused of overreaching the powers of his office. The demonstrations set off in waves as the day progressed, in small towns and major cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, the heart of a surging protest movement against President Donald Trump. Some 2,000 events, organized under the slogan No Kings, were planned across all 50 states, animated by the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, federal spending cuts and Trump's military parade in Washington, which coincided with his 79th birthday. And while confrontations with police were rare across the country for much of the day, tensions in Los Angeles mounted as an 8 p.m. curfew threatened to escalate clashes between law enforcement officials and protesters downtown. Police have fired tear gas and swung batons on horseback to drive crowds from federal buildings. In a post on the social platform X, the LAPD said that people threw rocks, bottles and fireworks at officers. Many events nationwide drew large crowds with demonstrators striking patriotic themes, waving American flags or reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Speakers at a rally outside the state Capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota, paid tribute to state Rep. Melissa Hortman, a Democratic lawmaker who was assassinated overnight by a person pretending to be a police officer. Organizers called off other rallies in the state as investigators said the attacker, who remained at large, may have also planned to target the protests. Live Events In Houston, some demonstrators handed out flowers to police officers who were securing the route of the protest. Other rallies, like in Whittier, California, a suburb southeast of Los Angeles, and Raleigh, North Carolina, took on the feel of a dance party, as demonstrators blasted lively music. As some demonstrations began to wrap up, pockets of protesters resisted leaving. In Charlotte, North Carolina, police sprayed a chemical irritant at protesters attempting to move past a line of officers after the official end of the protest. Three people were arrested in a separate rally against Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Pittsburgh, as well as eight others conducting a similar protest in a northern Atlanta neighborhood. In Chicago, a two-hour standoff between hundreds of protesters and police ended without incident. In Austin, Texas, protesters have been pepper sprayed by police, and in San Antonio, people confronted military officials at the Alamo. Other demonstrations were impacted by counterprotesters. In Springfield, Ohio, where Haitian immigrants have been vilified by the administration, a man wearing a Trump T-shirt was arrested after a confrontation with protesters. And in Culpeper County, Virginia, a 21-year-old man was arrested and accused of intentionally driving his vehicle through a crowd of protesters leaving a demonstration. At least one person was struck by the vehicle, but no injuries were reported. Here's what else to know: Military parade No Kings organizers avoided calling for demonstrations in Washington, where the military parade was being held despite a forecast of thunderstorms. Trump previously warned that anyone seeking to protest at the parade would be met with "very big force." Texas Capitol cleared Authorities in Texas temporarily closed off the state Capitol and its grounds in Austin after what they described as a "credible threat" directed at state legislators who were expected to attend the protest. A person was taken into custody in connection with the threat, according to a law enforcement official in Texas. Los Angeles crackdown In the months before the immigration raids in Los Angeles, the Trump administration and immigrant rights groups had been preparing for conflict. Then the message arrived: "ICE is here," one father wrote. "They're going to take us." Detained by Marines Marcos Leao, a 27-year-old Army veteran, was briefly held by U.S. Marines outside of a federal building in Los Angeles. The move was noteworthy because federal troops are rarely seen detaining U.S. civilians, even temporarily. This article originally appeared in The New York Times.

Congress holds ‘Kursi Yatra' to mock Kejriwal for ‘seeking to enter Rajya Sabha

Amid the election battle for Ludhiana West assembly constituency, Youth Congress organized a 'Kursi Yatra' targeting Kejriwal for 'seeking to enter Rajya Sabha.' In the Kursi Yatra taken out with band instruments, a dummy Kejriwal was made to sit on a big chair placed on a chariot. Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu's supporters carried Congress flags around the chair and sent a message to the people that this fight is not to make AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora an MLA from the West assembly seat, but rather, this fight is being fought by the AAP leadership to snatch the Rajya Sabha seat from a Punjabi man and fulfil the lust for power of Kejriwal. National president of Mahila Congress Alka Lamba, co-incharge of Punjab Congress and MLA Rana Gurjit Singh participated in Kursi Yatra. Lamba took a dig at Kejriwal and said that after losing the CM's chair in Delhi, Kejriwal, who has become accustomed to living a royal life, is now struggling for power. After the doors of power were closed in Delhi, Kejriwal appointed all his generals trapped in the swamp of corruption, Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Vibhav Kumar, to government posts in Punjab. 'Now Kejriwal wants to snatch the Rajya Sabha seat from Punjabi Sanjeev Arora and get power and a life of luxury. Today, the Congress has organized a Kursi Yatra to expose the conspiracy to send a candidate to the Rajya Sabha through a fraudulent route and made the people of the Western Vidhan Sabha aware. He is enjoying Z plus security of 2 states,' she alleged. Meanwhile, Ashu ridiculed Kejriwal's developmental promises to the people of Ludhiana West. He reiterated his charge against AAP and its leader Kejriwal that they were fighting the Ludhiana West by-election for not getting an MLA elected, but to 'reemploy their jobless leader in Rajya Sabha'. Ashu said it was for the first time in the last 13 years that Kejriwal had become jobless after losing from the New Delhi assembly segment. Now he has chosen a job for himself that of the RS member, for which he wants to sacrifice another RS member from Punjab, Ashu said.
