Cops nab 528 for drunk driving
The Traffic Police conducted a focused campaign against drunk driving over the weekend. According to Cyberabad traffic police, the police on weekends had been organising a special large-scale drive by deputing teams to keep a check on drunk driving.
During the drive, of total 528, as many as 391 were two-wheeler drivers, 22 three-wheeler drivers, 113 four-wheeler drivers and 2 heavy vehicles. Police said 44 offenders were found with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml. The RC Puram zone reported the highest cases with 94 followed by Miyapur (65), Gachibowli (48), and Narsingi with 46 cases respectively.Of total, the highest offenders were the age between 21-30 with 218 offenders followed by 175 caught were of age group 31-40 years and 98 offenders of 41-50 years old. All apprehended individuals will be presented before the Court.
The police urged the citizens that if anybody indulges in driving under the influence of alcohol and causes accidents resulting in fatalities, such persons will be arrested and charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), which carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in jail along with a fine, said the police officer.

Minor among three held for staging firing incident in Northeast Delhi to evade repaying loans
In an attempt to evade repaying loans, a builder who allegedly staged a firing in front of his shop in Northeast Delhi's Maujpur, was arrested by the police on Monday. Apart from the builder, identified as Mohammad Anish, the police have arrested two suspects including a 16-year-old shooter. The matter came to light on Saturday, when Anish, the builder, reported the shooting to the police. In his complaint, he had claimed that he suspected that a financier, from whom he had borrowed money, had fired at the premises to intimidate him. 'At about 2:30 pm on Saturday, upon arriving at his office, he found the glass of his window broken…At the scene, the police team recovered an empty cartridge from the street,' said DCP North East, Ashish Mishra. The police had then registered a case at Jafrabad police station under sections 324(6) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. After examining CCTV footage of the area, the police traced a suspect, Mursleen from Jafrabad and arrested him. Upon questioning, Mursleen allegedly admitted that he had arranged the shooting following receiving instructions from Anish. He allegedly told the police that he also used the pistol that the builder had provided. The police subsequently arrested Anish and apprehended the shooter, a 16-year-old teen. 'During questioning, Anish admitted that he owed a large sum to an acquaintance who was pressuring him for repayment. He staged the firing to falsely implicate his financier and evade payment,' said DCP Mishra. The police subsequently added BNS sections 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) and 95 (hiring, employing or engaging a child to commit an offence) to the case registered. According to the police, Anish had been involved in two previous cases of theft.

Shimla, Aug 11 (PTI) A case has been registered against an unidentified person for allegedly hacking the official website of the Himachal Pradesh Department of Industries and uploading a fake page, soliciting donations for the chief minister's relief fund, officials said on Monday. 'The fake page, uploaded on July 26, displayed a QR code linked to a bank account of Purav Maan. Acting swiftly, the state data centre team disabled the website on July 28 to prevent further misuse and restored it the following day after implementing additional security measures' the complaint said. Sharma told police that during verification, an EY team member transferred Rs 1 from their personal account to the QR code displayed on the hacked page, confirming the UPI ID and account holder's details. The department is still determining how much money, if any, was transferred by the public between July 26 and July 28, he added. He further alleged in the complaint that the intent behind the hack was to cheat the public and tarnish the image of the department as well as the state government. Police have registered a case under section 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and section 66(C) (identity theft) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and said that further investigation is underway. PATNA: After 'Dog Babu', 'Sonalika Tractor' and 'Donald Trump', yet another case of fake application has emerged in Bihar. This time, the application seeks a residential certificate for a cat. The Rohtas district administration has received a request from an applicant named 'Cat Kumar', listing 'Catty Boss' as the father and 'Catiya Devi' as the mother. District Magistrate (DM), Rohtas, Udita Singh ordered an investigation soon after the matter came to her notice. 'I have already asked the revenue officer of Nasariganj to register an FIR against unknown persons and initiate investigation,' the DM said on Monday. She confirmed that an FIR has been registered at Nasariganj police station against unknown persons under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). 'I assure you that action would be taken against the applicant as per law,' she asserted. DM Singh said that though application with photo of a canine was submitted on July 29, it the authority concerned noticed it only on August 10. On Singh's directive, Nasariganj police registered a case under sections 132, 61 (B), 318 (4) of BNS. Rahul Kumar, a sub-inspector of police, said that investigation has been launched to ascertain how the system accepted the application and who was responsible. Revenue Officer, Nasariganj, Kaushal Patel said that the application for residence certificate was received at RTPS office. He said that the case has been lodged against the applicant for obstructing government work, hatching a conspiracy and misusing technology.
