Amr Ezzat Salama: Arab Universities Forum is Key to Global Competitiveness

H-Tayea
Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, has described the upcoming Arab Universities and International Student Recruitment Agents Forum as a strategic initiative that will significantly advance the global presence and competitiveness of Arab higher education.
The Forum, organized by the Association in cooperation with Belgravia Organization, will be held in Amman, Jordan, from July 28 to 29, 2025. It is designed to serve as a platform for international cooperation between Arab universities and certified student recruitment agents from across the world. The two-day event will feature bilateral meetings, partnership agreements, and in-depth discussions on expanding enrollment and improving student engagement across Arab academic institutions.
Dr. Salama emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative, stating:
'This forum represents a strategic platform to strengthen the presence of Arab universities on the international educational scene and opens new horizons for collaboration with partners specialized in international student recruitment. At the Association, we believe that expanding international student enrollment not only enriches cultural diversity on campus but also contributes to improving the quality of education and enhancing the global competitiveness of our academic institutions.'
This initiative aligns closely with the Association's broader mission to elevate Arab universities to globally competitive standards, especially in response to shifting trends and challenges in international education and student mobility.
Established in 1964 as a League of Arab States initiative, the Association of Arab Universities has long been a key driver of academic cooperation and development across the region. The idea for the Association was shaped by two foundational conferences held in Benghazi and Beirut, which focused on the future of Arab higher education. In 1969, the Association held its first General Conference with 23 universities participating, and officially established its permanent General Secretariat in Amman. The late Dr. Morsi Ahmed was elected the first Secretary-General.

120 al-Shabaab Militants Killed in Operation in Somalia

Israa Farhan Somalia's Defense Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi has announced that more than 120 al-Shabaab militants were killed and several others wounded in large-scale military operations in the Lower Shabelle region in the country's south. Speaking at a press conference late Friday, Fiqi hailed the Somali National Army's success and vowed that the fight against terrorism would continue until the country is completely free of extremist threats. The operations were conducted by Somali troops in coordination with Ugandan Defense Forces, part of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the joint forces targeted key militant hideouts, capturing all major strongholds in the area. Government sources reported that troops are now conducting follow-up sweeps to collect weapons and recover the bodies of the militants killed in the offensive. The latest military success follows the strategic capture of the town of Barire in Lower Shabelle. The Somali army, backed by Ugandan forces, secured full control of the area last week after a series of fierce clashes with al-Shabaab fighters. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Turkish FM Praises Egypts Role in Gaza Aid Efforts

H-Tayea Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has praised Egypt's pivotal role in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, stressing that Ankara will continue to work closely with Cairo to ensure aid reaches those in need. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aati in New Alamein City, Fidan underscored that Turkey and Egypt will oppose any attempt to forcibly remove Palestinians from their homes. Fidan sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's alleged plans to take control of Gaza City, calling on the entire Islamic world to act to prevent such moves. He also highlighted ongoing coordination between Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, but accused Israel of deliberately obstructing progress. Sisi, Turkish FM Discuss Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Relations, Regional Issues

Nada Mustafa President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Saturday Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad. Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the Turkish minister conveyed the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to President El-Sisi, who appreciated the gesture and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries. Sisi highlighted the qualitative progress in Egypt-Turkey relations, particularly following the signing of the Joint Declaration in February 2024 to reactivate the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meetings and elevate them to the level of the two heads of state. Moreover, the meeting witnessed mutual affirmation on the need to strengthen economic cooperation between Egypt and Turkey, with the goal of achieving a trade volume of $15 billion, in line with the agreement reached during President El-Sisi's visit to Ankara in September 2024. The two sides also underscored the importance of expanding Turkish companies' participation in investment projects in Egypt. The meeting also addressed developments in several regional issues, foremost among them the situation in the Gaza Strip. Both sides reaffirmed their rejection of the re-establishment of military occupation in the Strip, stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages and detainees, while rejecting the displacement of Palestinians. In addition, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in Libya, Syria, and Sudan. In this regard, Sisi outlined Egypt's vision for achieving peace and stability in these brotherly nations and the country's efforts in this regard, emphasizing the importance of respecting their sovereignty, preserving their territorial integrity, and safeguarding the resources of their peoples. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
