Rodolfo Bellato vs. Jimmy Crute prediction, pick, start time for UFC 312
Last event: 2-3
UFC main cards, 2024: 8-8
Rodolfo Bellato vs. Jimmy Crute UFC 312 preview
Bellato (12-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will look to make it five straight wins in his first appearance since December 2023. Sidelined due to injury, Bellato returns after impressing on Dana White's Contender Series and then winning his debut by stopping Ihor Potieria in the second round. … Crute (12-4-1 MMA, 4-4-1 UFC) is in need of a win, as he enters winless in his last four appearances with three losses and one draw. Crute, 28, was last in action at UFC 290 in July, where Alonzo Menifield submitted him. The last victory for Crute came by way of first-round finish of Modestas Bukauskas in October 2020.
Rodolfo Bellato vs. Jimmy Crute UFC 312 expert pick, prediction
Filling out the main card is a light heavyweight matchup between Bellato and Crute.
Looking like a character from 'The Incredibles,' Bellato has proven to be a fun fighter in victory or defeat. I'll be curious to see what Bellato looks like after an injury layoff, but I'm even more curious to see how Crute looks after coming back from a premature career retirement.
Crute appears to have been active in the last calendar year, cross-training at well-respected gyms like Bang Tao Muay Thai.
I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if Bellato can survive the early storm and make things ugly for the win. But despite not knowing where Crute's head is at, I believe that the Australian is the more talented fighter skill for skill.
It's not a confident pick, but I'll take Crute to control the grappling and force a stoppage by Round 3.
Rodolfo Bellato vs. Jimmy Crute UFC 312 odds
The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the Brazilian, listing Bellato -164 and Crute +134 via FanDuel.

Lions eye series victory against Australia- talking points ahead of second Test
The British and Irish Lions are aiming to complete their first series victory since 2013 when they clash with Australia in the second Test. Here, the PA news agency examines five talking points heading into their collision at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Lions move in for the kill A flawless record of seven wins since arriving Down Under has placed the Lions on the brink of an achievement that has only been managed twice before in the professional era. Successful Lions tours are the exception, not the rule, but they are overwhelming favourites to crush Australia for the second time. The persistent rain forecast to fall throughout Saturday could be a leveller, but on the strength of a one-sided first Test, Andy Farrell's men should be comfortable winners. Do or die for Australia The Wallabies are not just playing to keep the series alive, but also their credibility as a tour destination for the elite of British and Irish rugby. These are difficult times for Australian rugby and even though their precarious finances have been shored up by the Lions' visit, problems abound on and off the field. It is imperative that they take the series to a decider by rising to the occasion in Melbourne. If they lose again, calls for the Lions to instead turn their attention to the mouth-watering prospect of a tour to France will only grow louder. Down but not out For all their difficulties, Joe Schmidt's men are not without hope for their shot at levelling the series. They scored more points in the second-half at Suncorp Stadium where, unexpectedly, their bench made the greater impact. Reinforcing their assault on the Lions are the return of powerful forwards Rob Valetini and Will Skelton, whose very presence after missing the first Test because of calf injuries should prevent their pack being bullied again. Valetini's ball carrying at the blindside flanker is a particularly important weapon. Comeback king One of the most fascinating stories of the tour took another twist when Owen Farrell was named on the bench for the MCG clash. If he comes on, the former England captain will be making his first Test appearance in almost two years. Even after two quietly encouraging performances on tour, including a full 80 minutes on Tuesday when he proved his fitness following a season of injury setbacks, the involvement of Andy Farrell's son as a late call-up divides opinion, but so far his presence has only benefitted the squad. Stage set for Russell Much of the spotlight this week has fallen on Owen Farrell, allowing the Lions' real star to glide into the second Test relatively unnoticed. In Brisbane, Finn Russell was mesmerising at times during a first half when his passing repeatedly unlocked Australia's defence. Aided by a dominant pack and the generalship of scrum-half Jamison Gibson Park, the 32-year-old is functioning at the peak of his powers and has another opportunity to prove that on current form, he is the game's standout fly-half.

Poirier walks away from MMA competition with a 30-10 mark with one no contest. While Poirier never won an undisputed title in the UFC, he was the interim champion. His résumé is about as Hall-of-Fame worthy as anyone who never held undisputed gold. If you question Poirier's fitness for the Hall, I've got two words for you: 'Donald Cerrone.' Ilia Topuria obliterates Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 before wild face-off with Paddy Pimblett
Ilia Topuria's stunning UFC run continued on Saturday, as he knocked Charles Oliveira out cold to become a two-weight champion. In the main event of UFC 317, Topuria, who vacated the featherweight title in February, faced Oliveira for the vacant lightweight belt and finished the former champion in round one. After a frantic opening few minutes, in which both men landed in the striking exchanges and demonstrated grappling prowess in other moments, Topuria floored Oliveira with a right cross and left hook, leaving the Brazilian staring up at the lights in Las Vegas. Oliveira, 35, walked onto Topuria's right hand and was seemingly unconscious even before the left hook landed. 'Do Bronx', who held the 155lb title from 2021 until 2022, crumpled to the canvas and was pummeled with one more shot before referee Marc Goddard could step in. Topuria's victory kept the Spanish-Georgian unbeaten and saw him enter a small club of two-weight UFC champions. The 28-year-old knocked out Alexander Volkanovski last February to win the featherweight belt, before doing the same to Max Holloway in October to retain the gold. He then relinquished it this February, eyeing a move up to 155lb. Some fans felt that Topuria's victories over Volkanovski and Holloway were the greatest back-to-back wins ever recorded by a UFC fighter. Volkanovski is seen by some as the best featherweight in UFC history, while Holloway is also a former champion and modern great. And Topuria, who predicted that he would knock out both men, dealt Oliveira the same fate after making a similarly prophetic call. After 'El Matador' collected the lightweight title on Saturday (28 June), his quasi-rival Paddy Pimblett was called into the cage by UFC announcer Joe Rogan. In 2022, 'Paddy The Baddy' and Topuria were involved in an altercation at the fighter hotel ahead of UFC London, with the latter taking exception to seemingly anti-Georgian tweets by the Liverpudlian. 'We have some f*****g p***y [at ringside],' Topuria said in the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday. 'Whoever is ready for me, I'm here. I don't think he's gonna accept it, but if he thinks he's ready, come on, you p***y.' 'That was a heavy knockout, I'll give you that,' Pimblett responded after entering the Octagon. 'Respect, but you will never knock me out.' 'You'll get knocked out even before the fight,' Topuria laughed, before appearing to shove Pimblett, who is ranked eighth at lightweight. In the co-main event, Alexandre Pantoja recorded a fourth successful defence of his flyweight title, submitting Kai Kara-France in round two.
