Village pub's annual dog show brings lots of laughs despite rain
THERE were lots of laughs at a pub as villagers came together for its annual dog show.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes were entered into a variety of categories at the Fox and Hounds in Lulsley, near Worcester, including waggiest tail, best trick, best presented and judges' favourite.
This year marked the pub's eighth dog show, which has got bigger each year.
Despite the rain, all tables in the beer garden were taken up by competitors of all ages, alongside their four-legged friends.
"This is the eighth year we've done it. It gets bigger and bigger each year, apart from this year because of the weather," said manager Tom Clarke.

"It's not Crufts or anything. Sometimes you go to these dog shows at village fetes and things and it's really competitive and not fun.
"It's a couple of quid. You can have a bit of a laugh, beer and pizza - what more do you want?"
Jayne Symonds and daughter Hannah Gilks have become regular competitors over the years, with their cocker spaniels Ralph and Ted.
"We come every year, it's good fun," Ms Symonds said. "We've entered them into lots of categories."
Councillor Sarah Rouse, who represents Alfrick, Leigh and Rushwick on Malvern Hills District Council, also came along with her dog Chip.
She said: "It's always been a great community event, it gets loads of people together.
"It's nice to see all the dogs and it's really good fun."
The show kicked off with the best presented category, won by cocker spaniel Ted who donned a multicoloured vest.
Next up was the dog and owner lookalike category, with one owner wearing ears and a matching hoodie to win. The matching hoodie was a hit with the judges, meaning lurcher Romeo took first place.
One of the most successful competitors was Ronan, who took home prizes for being the best pup - a category for dogs under two - and judges' favourite.

Ted Lasso Season 4: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on June 3, 2025, 19:15 IST Last updated June 3, 2025, 16:44 IST The beloved Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso is officially returning for a fourth season, reigniting excitement among fans worldwide. After a seemingly conclusive Season 3 finale in May 2023, where Ted returned to Kansas to be with his son, the announcement of Season 4 has sparked curiosity about release dates, returning cast members, and potential plotlines. Here's everything we know so far about Ted Lasso Season 4. Ted Lasso Season 4 Potential Release Date As of June 3, 2025, Apple TV+ has not announced an official release date for Ted Lasso Season 4. However, production is reportedly set to begin in July 2025, with filming taking place in Kansas City and the UK. Given the timeline of previous seasons—Season 3 began filming in March 2022 and premiered in March 2023—a similar pattern suggests a potential release in late 2025 or early 2026. Ted Lasso Season 4 Expected Cast The heart of Ted Lasso lies in its ensemble cast, and several key players are expected to return for Season 4. Here's the latest on the cast: Confirmed Returning Cast Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso : The optimistic coach is back, with Sudeikis reprising his Emmy-winning role and serving as an executive producer and co-writer. Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton : The AFC Richmond owner is likely to return, with Apple securing options for Waddingham, per reports from August 2024. Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent : Goldstein is confirmed to return as a writer and executive producer, strongly suggesting he'll reprise his role as the gruff yet lovable coach. Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins : Options have been picked up for Swift, hinting at the return of AFC Richmond's supportive director of football operations. Juno Temple as Keeley Jones: Temple is in talks to return, potentially continuing her journey as a PR maven and key figure in AFC Richmond's orbit. Ted Lasso Season 4 Potential Plot While specific plot details remain scarce, hints from cast and creators offer clues about Season 4's direction: Ted Coaching a Women's Team: Jason Sudeikis revealed on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce that Ted will coach a women's soccer team. Nick Mohammed echoed this on the Chris Moyles Show, confirming Ted's return to Richmond to lead the AFC Richmond Women's Team, a concept teased by Keeley's proposal in the Season 3 finale. AFC Richmond's Journey: With Ted back in the U.S. at the end of Season 3, Season 4 may split focus between Kansas and the UK. AFC Richmond qualified for the Champions League, a prestigious tournament mentioned in Season 3, Episode 12. This could see Roy, Nate, and Beard leading the men's team to European glory. Loose Ends: Keeley's PR firm and her unresolved love triangle with Roy and Jamie, Rebecca's leadership of AFC Richmond, and Nate's return to the fold as an assistant coach or kit man offer rich subplots for Season 4. Seahawks' Sam Darnold Doesn't Hold Back About Brock Purdy
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. There is no love between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. The two teams have been rivals in the NFC West and the fan bases do not like each other very much. Just like the fans, the teams bring a little extra to the field when they play. This season, there will be a new quarterback matchup between the two squads. Sam Darnold is the new quarterback for the Seahawks. After starting last season and putting up big numbers with the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold will look to take Seattle back to being a serious contender in the NFC. Brock Purdy, on the other hand, will be looking to turn the 49ers around after a tough 2024 season. Sam Darnold #14 of the Minnesota Vikings looks to pass against the Atlanta Falcons during the second quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium on December 08, 2024 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Read more: 49ers Urged to Pursue New Proven Weapon for Brock Purdy Ahead of the upcoming campaign, Darnold spoke out about Purdy. He did not hold back from crediting the young 49ers quarterback with helping turn his career around. "Brock helped me a ton," Darnold said. "With certain things of how to prepare and even just watching him play. Just how he processes on the field and all those certain things." He continued on, revealing more of the lessons that he learned from his time in San Francisco. "I think that's the biggest thing that I learned going there was just to trust the progressions and if something is not there, trust it, and move on to the next one and the next one," he said. "If that's not there, then be able to make a play potentially, but understand where my outs are. If I'm hot, understand where my hot is. If I need to hang in the pocket, understand where I can potentially throw the ball away if there's pressure. They taught me so much about playing good football, and I'm forever thankful for my time there." Read more: Vikings Reportedly Concerned With JJ McCarthy All of the lessons that he learned with the 49ers paid off during the 2024 season with the Vikings. Darnold played in all 17 regular season games, completing 66.2 percent of his pass attempts for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Behind those impressive numbers, Darnold led Minnesota to a 14-3 record. Unfortunately, the Vikings lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams. Landing with the Seahawks on a three-year, $100.5 million contract, Darnold will now have a chance to prove that he wasn't just a product of Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell's system. He will also be competing directly with his old team and close friend in the same division. For more Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

New book adds wrinkle to QB drama in NFC North and 2024 NFL Draft class
The NFL Draft is the best thing we have in sports, outside of the Super Bowl. You know why? There is no better reality show because it checks all the boxes you want. It's a game of chance, skills, and critical thinking that all can still need to have more luck than anything when it is all said and done. Case in point, we are over a year removed from the 2024 NFL Draft and we are hearing new details about the draft process for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. Advertisement In a new book written by Seth Wickersham titled, "American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback," details are shared about the mindset of Williams and his father, Carl. Details include everything from questions surrounding Shane Waldron and Matt Eberflus to even trying to work there way out of Chicago. Ironically, the Vikings played a major role in making things more difficult, as the book details, according to an ESPN report. "After an up-and-down final season at USC, Caleb Williams was unsure of what he wanted to do as he prepared for the 2024 draft. At the NFL combine that year, he met with Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell. The two hit it off, and Caleb Williams began to dream of what it would be like to play for Minnesota." It peaked when Caleb Williams said, "I need to go to the Vikings," to which his father said, "Let's do it." Advertisement Obviously, the Bears drafted Caleb Williams, and there are more details as to how rocky that year was for him. Of course, the Vikings went with J.J. McCarthy, and they seem perfectly happy with him on their roster and are ready to roll with him in 2025 and beyond.
