Sushant would not have committed suicide, father reveals

The father of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has reiterated that his son could not have died by suicide, expressing confidence in the judicial process ahead of a key Bombay High Court hearing.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, KK Singh said he believed local residents knew the truth about his son's death and expected justice under Maharashtra's new government.
'People in Patna know what happened. The truth will come out in court,' he said.
The Bombay High Court is scheduled to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on February 19, seeking further investigation into the case.
The plea also calls for the arrest and questioning of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray, who has been linked to the deaths of Rajput and his former manager, Disha Salian.
Sushant was found dead in his Bandra apartment in June 2020, with initial reports terming it a suicide. He was found hanging at his Bandra home. Some of his friends were also at home when his body was discovered.
The door of his room was broken and he was found hanging. According to initial police reports, he was suffering from depression for the past six months.
A rising star, Sushant had made a name for himself on the small screen with Pavitra Rishta, where he played the lead role, before jumping to the big screen.
His film Kai Po Che was based on Chetan Bhagat's bestselling book The Three Mistakes of My Life. The film catapulted Sushant from being a smalltown boy, to becoming a known name over night.
Following this, he went on to work in Shuddh Desi Romance with Parineeti Chopra, and then did several other films.
The actor's last film, Dil Bechara, was released posthumously.
The actor's former manager Disha Salian was found dead a few days ago before his death.
Sushant's family and supporters continue to insist it was a planned murder and not suicide.
His father maintains that he has "full faith in the court" and hopes for a fair outcome.

"But I request Lahoris: do not host such people in the future. We Pakistanis are hospitable, we'll sit at the knees of elders, but that man does not deserve it." Actor Mishi Khan, for instance, slammed Akhtar on Instagram, saying, "Javed Akhtar has chosen the perfect place for himself. No one in Pakistan will invite him again." CBI files closure report four years after Sushant's death
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report in the case of Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, reported Times of India. The findings were submitted on Saturday before a Mumbai court, which will now decide to either accept the report or not. The Mumbai Police's initial reports indicated that the actor, who was found hanging at his Bandra residence in June 2020, committed suicide, since no evidence of outside intervention was found. The CBI's report also cleared Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family of allegations. Previously, Rhea was accused of abetment to suicide following Sushant's death. His family also lodged an FIR against her and others on claims of theft, cheating, and wrongful confinement. This escalated in a jurisdictional dispute between the Bihar Police and the Mumbai Police. It was the Bihar Police that recommended the CBI probe, which came into effect in August 2020, as directed by the Supreme Court of India. Now, years after the central agency took over the case, Rhea has been cleared of her charges. Celebrities rallied behind the Jalebi actor after the recent developments came to light. "Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment and just for TRPs. Apologise. That's the very least you can do," wrote Sanju actor Dia Mirza on Instagram Stories. Saathi actor Soni Razdan said, "Should have decided this before they put the poor girl in jail and tried to destroy her reputation. This was nothing but a modern day witch hunt. Question is, where is the accountability? Who pays?" Veteran actor Shabana Azmi also empathised with Rhea, saying that the latter had "gone through hell". Adding that the younger actor's trauma was "unimaginable", Shabana urged netizens to give Rhea time and space to recover from the ordeal. Following Sushant's tragic death, Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor Vidya Balan also spoke out against the vitriol that Rhea underwent. Vidya wrote on X, "It is so unfortunate that the tragic and untimely death of a beloved young star Sushant Singh Rajput has become a media circus. In the same breath, as a woman, my heart breaks at the vilification of Rhea Chakraborty. Isn't it supposed to be 'innocent until proven guilty', or is it now 'guilty until proven innocent'?"

Kangana Ranaut criticises Kunal Kamra, calls remarks '2 minutes of fame' stunt

Ranaut, a BJP MP from Mandi, questioned the credibility of individuals who, in her view, use insults for attention. "Who are these people, and what are their credentials? If they can write, they should do so in literature… Abusing people and our culture in the name of comedy is unacceptable," she said. Her remarks come as Kamra faces an FIR over a satirical song he performed during a show. The parody, set to a tune from Dil Toh Pagal Hai, referred to Shinde as a "gaddar" (traitor), a reference to his split from the Shiv Sena. The venue distanced itself from his remarks, saying it had no involvement in the making of the video that sparked the backlash. Despite the legal action and political storm, Kamra remains defiant. "I will not apologise. What I said is exactly what Deputy CM Ajit Pawar himself has said about Eknath Shinde. I don't fear this mob, and I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down," he said. The police have issued Kamra a summons, and further legal proceedings are expected. The case has reignited debates on free speech in India, with supporters arguing that political satire should not be met with crim–inal charges.
