India poised to succeed at all layers of AI stack: OpenAI's Jason Kwon
India is becoming a global artificial intelligence (AI) powerhouse with the second-highest number of users of OpenAI's ChatGPT, a thriving community of developers that are among the top 10 countries globally building on OpenAI's application programming interfaces (APIs), the company's chief strategy officer, Jason Kwon, said.
'With the vast and growing pool of AI talent, a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, and strong government support to expand the critical infrastructure, India is poised to succeed at all layers of the AI stack,' Kwon said.
The executive was in India on Thursday as part of his global tour. On Thursday, OpenAI launched the OpenAI Academy India, the first international expansion of the company's education platform. Through the academy, OpenAI will support the IndiaAI Mission's FutureSkills pillar by expanding access to AI skills training for a wide range of learners — students, developers, educators, civil servants, nonprofit leaders, and small-business owners, the company said.
Apart from this, the company will provide educational content on the government's Karmayogi platform, which aims to enhance skills and build capacity among public servants and government officials.
On Thursday, OpenAI said it now supported 3 million paying business users of ChatGPT, up from 2 million in February.
The company announced the launch of the beta version of Connectors, a tool that can help enterprises find granular data from their third-party tools without leaving ChatGPT.
'Additionally, deep research connectors (beta) are now available with HubSpot, Linear, as well as many popular Microsoft and Google tools. These build on Deep Research, an agent that conducts multi-step research for complex tasks, by gathering, synthesizing, and presenting information from third-party tools and the web,' the company said in a press note.

Google Gemini now supports scheduled actions, introduces new swipe gesture for Live
Google was one of the few companies that jumped on the AI bandwagon early on, but the tech giant still seems to be playing catch-up with startups like OpenAI. Earlier this year, in January, the Sam Altman-led company introduced a new feature that enabled users to schedule tasks in ChatGPT to run automated prompts. Now, in a blog post, Google has announced that it is bringing 'Scheduled Actions' to Gemini. Announced at this year's I/O, Google says the new functionality is 'designed to proactively handle your tasks.' Similar to ChatGPT's schedule tasks, Gemini users will now be able to streamline their routine tasks and even get personalised updates from the AI chatbot. The tech giant says users can now ask Gemini to do things like completing a task at a specified time, or changing the prompt you are already using for a recurring task. Moreover, Gemini can now show you a summary of your calendar, unread emails, and fetch information and give updates about your favourite sports team on the go. However, the scheduled actions feature is limited to users with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription and eligible Google Workspace business and education plans. Also, it is still unclear if Gemini, like ChatGPT, has limited scheduled action to ten active tasks and if they can pause or delete an old task if they hit the limit. Google also said that Gemini will soon get an 'upgraded preview' of Gemini 2.5 Pro. The new large language model builds on the company's recently unveiled 2.5 Pro model, which is better than its predecessors in coding. The company is also making it easier for users to access Gemini Live. Instead of tapping on the dedicated Gemini Live action from the bottom of the screen, you can now simply swipe from the right side of the screen to the left to open Gemini Live.

It's essentially your digital butler, now with a teased at Google I/O, this new functionality is finally rolling out to select users on Android and iOS, and it's designed to do more than just answer questions. With Scheduled Actions, you can instruct Gemini to carry out tasks on a recurring or timed basis, and it'll follow through without further prompting. India will need 50L new CAs by 2050, says ICAI president
Vadodara: By 2050, India will require 50 lakh new chartered accountants (CAs) to support its rapidly expanding economy, said Charanjot Singh Nanda, president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), on Friday. Nanda was speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day national conference titled 'Veda Excellence', hosted by the Vadodara branch of ICAI's Western India Regional Council in collaboration with the Anand and Bharuch branches. "Currently, India has around 4.85 lakh registered CAs. With economic growth, the demand for qualified professionals will increase significantly," Nanda said. Highlighting ICAI's digital initiatives, he said the institute has provided students free access to ChatGPT and launched CA-GPT, an AI-powered tool that sources answers exclusively from ICAI's internal resources. "This tool has been widely appreciated for aiding professionals in areas like accounting, auditing, and taxation," he noted. Responding to the move by company secretary and cost accountant bodies seeking inclusion of their members in the definition of 'accountants', Nanda maintained that tax and other audits should remain the domain of CAs, as they are best equipped and trained for these responsibilities. Nanda also announced the launch of a certificate course on artificial intelligence — AI for CAs (Level 1) — aimed at helping professionals adapt to emerging technologies. The second level of the course will be launched soon, he added. The two-day conference in Vadodara will cover eight sessions, including those on technical and non-technical topics like direct and indirect taxes, capital market, and even work-life balance. Around 650 participants from across the country are participating in the conference.
