Meghan Markle's 'inappropriate' living request 'firmly denied' by late Queen
Despite serving as a senior working Royal for just a few years, Meghan Markle experienced the full Royal lifestyle during her tenure within the Firm, savouring all the privileges that accompany membership of the Royal family.
Following her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, the Sussexes made two Royal properties their home, despite less than two years passing between their wedding ceremony and their dramatic departure from Royal duties in 2020.
Prior to their star-studded Windsor ceremony, Meghan moved in with Harry at his modest Nottingham Cottage residence on the Kensington Palace grounds, which served as the location where he proposed to his future wife. This follows revelations about Prince Harry's devastating loss in the Royal rift, with Meghan reportedly 'holding the cards'.

Several months after exchanging vows, the pair then moved to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Royal estate, having received the property as a gift from Queen Elizabeth II.
Whilst the Duke and Duchess grew quite attached to Frogmore Cottage, The Times revealed that the newlyweds initially had their hearts set on a different Royal residence, reports the Mirror.
As has been extensively documented previously, Meghan reportedly desired to reside at Windsor Castle, with the Sussexes enquiring whether "living quarters could be made available after their marriage".
The late Queen Elizabeth II apparently "firmly" declined this possibility, finding the request "inappropriate", given that at the time, only the Queen and Prince Philip maintained private apartments within the castle. Royal author and historian Hugo Vickers previously told The Times: "There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments which the Sussexes may have had their eye on, or perhaps some former living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things.
"But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there."
According to Royal aides, Windsor holds a special significance for the Sussexes as it was the venue for their wedding and Archie's christening.
In her book 'The New Royals', Royal expert Katie Nicholl discussed the late Queen's decision to gift Frogmore Cottage to Harry and Meghan. She quoted Lady Elizabeth Anson, who passed away in 2020, saying: "The cottage was a big deal. The Queen's entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her backyard, her solitude, and her privacy.
"She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said 'I hope they'll respect it'."
Prince Harry expressed his fondness for Frogmore in his 2023 memoir 'Spare', writing: "We loved that place. From the first minute. It felt as if we were destined to live there.
"We couldn't wait to wake up in the morning, go for a long walk in the gardens, check in with the swans. Especially grumpy Steve. We met the Queen's gardeners, got to know their names and the names of all the flowers. They were thrilled at how much we appreciated, and praised, their artistry."

Jeremy Clarkson lashes out at JD Vance's security
Jeremy Clarkson has lashed out at security officers after finding himself caught up in JD Vance's visit to the UK. The so-called 'no-fly zone' was set up around the Cotswolds for the US Vice President's trip to the UK this month. Vance is staying at the 18th Century Dean Manor in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. As the controversial politician and his security team descend upon the small-town English hamlet, local residents have had their lives disrupted by 'the circus' his visit entailed. One such local is Diddly Squat boss Jeremy Clarkson, who found himself entangled in the Hillbilly Elegy author's no-fly zone. With his drone intercepted by members of Vance's security team, the miffed Grand Tour host snapped back in typically Clarkson fashion. Clarkson had been using the drone to film the latest series of his hit show Clarkson's Farm, which uses the gadget to shoot certain scenes. As he explained in The Times, Clarkson was approached by a member of Vance's security team who asked him: 'Is that your drone?' When he responded in the affirmative, the TV presenter-turned-farmer was reportedly told: 'You aren't allowed to fly that today.' Clarkson claims that he then told the officer to 'f***k off,' to which he replied: 'OK.' Clarkson had previously shared a picture of Vance's no-fly zone to his Instagram account. He captioned the map: 'The JD Vance no-fly zone. We are the pin. So on the downside, no drone shots today. On the upside, no annoying light aircraft.' The TV star's pin showed Diddly Squat's location on the outskirts of the red circle. Meanwhile, one unnamed source told The Daily Mail: 'Dean Manor is as close as possible to Mr Clarkson's farm house as can be. I'm willing to bet Clarkson can see it out of his bedroom window.'
