College Students Perform ‘Dangerous' Car Stunt In Navi Mumbai, Booked After Video Goes Viral
A video of college students performing "dangerous" stunt went viral on social media, prompting the authorities to file a case against them.
Three college students were booked after a video of them performing a stunt in a moving car in Navi Mumbai went viral on social media, officials said on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Palm Beach Road at around 8.30 pm on Monday. The students were detained after the video surfaced on social media.
In the viral video, recorded by an unknown driver on Palm Beach Road (Vashi lane) between Sarsole Signal and Moraj Signal in Sanpada, one man is seen leaning out of the car's open sunroof while it was moving. Another man was sitting on the edge of the backseat window, with the upper half of his body outside. Later, the woman who was originally driving the car switched seats with her friend and leaned out of the sunroof herself while her friend drove, Times of India reported.
A top police official said that the cops traced the vehicle's owner to Sector 20, Belapur Village using the registration number.
'It was learnt that the car owner's son, Hari Gholpe (20), was driving the vehicle. He was accompanied by his friends Vinay Rawal (19), a Sanpada resident, and Kavya Joshi (20), residing in Nerul. While Gholpe dangerously leaned out of the moving car's window, Rawal leaned out through the sunroof, while Joshi was at the wheel. Thereafter, Joshi took a turn to perform a stunt by leaning out of the sunroof while one of her friends drove the car," Devidas Kathale, Senior Inspector of Sanpada, was quoted as saying by the outlet.
The three students were booked under relevant sections of the BNS for rash driving and for activities endangering human life. Motor Vehicle Act was also slapped against them for 'dangerous driving", according to the report.
The accused were not arrested as per the provisions of the law; however, they were served with a notice under BNSS, asking them to cooperate in the police probe and appear in court whenever summoned.

Noida daycare horror: Attendant ‘slaps and bites' 15-month-old toddler, ‘bashes head into wall'
A teenage attendant and the owner of a daycare centre at a residential complex in Noida's Sector 137 have been arrested after the parents of a 15-month-old toddler accused the former of allegedly assaulting and biting their child. CCTV footage from the daycare centre surfaced on social media, in which the attendant is seen repeatedly slapping, hitting and throwing the child on the floor as she cries in pain. In the 10-minute-28-second video, the attendant holds the toddler in her arms and shuts the door of a room in the centre. The attendant is then seen picking up a green plastic bat from the floor with her foot and hitting the toddler's head multiple times. She then walks around the dimly-lit room, hitting the toddler's head against the wall and later throwing her on the floor. The parents later noticed the marks on the child's body and rushed her to a doctor. In her complaint to the police on August 7, the mother said her child goes to the daycare centre for two hours every day. On August 4, when she brought her child from the centre, she was crying. 'I was changing her clothes when I saw bite marks on both her thighs. I rushed her to the doctor, who said it was a bite mark,' the woman said in her complaint. 'To find out what happened, I went to the daycare centre and asked them to show me the CCTV footage. I saw the attendant slapping my child, throwing her on the floor, and hitting her with a plastic bat. It was the attendant who bit her on her thighs,' alleged the mother to the police. She said that despite her daughter's frantic cries, the daycare owner did not intervene. The complaint further alleged that when the mother confronted the owner and attendant, they misbehaved with her and issued threats. The Noida Police has registered an FIR against the two under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace) of the BNS. Speaking to The Indian Express, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vir Kumar, said they had taken both women into custody on the same day the FIR was filed. 'They were arrested, but since it was a bailable offence, they filed a bond. The girl who was assaulting the child was a minor and had joined the daycare only 10 days earlier,' he said. 'The toddler underwent a medical examination to assess her injuries,' said the ACP.. Neetika Jha is a Correspondent with The Indian Express.
