Sixers star Tyrese Maxey marvels at LeBron James' fitness regimen

Tyrese Maxey is one of the NBA's brightest young stars, and he's a bright spot on a Philadelphia 76ers team that is facing some tough questions these days. The guard eclipsed 25 points a game in both of the last two seasons, and during the 2023-24 campaign, he earned his first trip to the NBA All-Star Game.
With major injury concerns surrounding fellow Sixers stars Joel Embiid and Paul George, Maxey has been putting in work this summer with the hope of raising his game another notch this fall. He had the privilege of getting to work out with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, and he was left marveling at James' passion and work ethic even after 22 seasons in the league.
Maxey told ClutchPoints what impressed him about the NBA's all-time leading scorer.
'I think the biggest thing is for me and what I can take from him is just his passion for the game,' Maxey told ClutchPoints. 'Like, I'm extremely passionate. I love basketball. Anytime I can do anything that pertains to basketball, I want to do it. But this man is going on like Year 23 and he was working out and talking and involved like it was probably Year five for him, you know what I'm saying? And that's amazing to see. I think anybody who's able to watch him, not just work out but play should feel honored because it's amazing.'
James' legacy is secure at this point, and many consider him one of the two or three greatest players in basketball history. But he will be returning for at least one more season, and his agent, Rich Paul, affirmed earlier this summer that he wants to win a fifth NBA championship.
Maxey also said that James has been helpful toward his own efforts.
'I don't know how many times I've worked out with him now,' Maxey admitted. 'I mean, that's crazy to say and, I guess, that's how I know I am getting a little old. But yeah, it's good work, man. It's good work. He does a good job of talking and just being vocal and helping. I'm very appreciative of him. He's done a lot.'
Maxey, who is 24 years of age, happens to also be represented by Paul's Klutch Sports Group.

Pocket pancakes? Brewers selling ballpark flapjacks after Pat Murphy's viral moment

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers are bringing manager Pat Murphy's strange eating habits to fans. Murphy went viral in a recent interview for pulling a pancake out of his uniform pocket and taking a bite — sharing the flapjack with the reporter — as he detailed different ways he shoves food into his pockets to snack on in the dugout. The moment has spawned quite the movement in Milwaukee. The ballclub announced Friday that 'Murph's Pocket Pancakes' will be sold at American Family Field during Sunday games for the rest of the season, starting with this weekend's series against the New York Mets. The Brewers haven't lost since Murphy whipped the pancake out of his pocket last week, building the best record in the major leagues. He went on to continue eating his pancake in the postgame press conference while detailing other food items he has brought into the dugout. 'Waffles, pancakes, pizza,' Murphy said. Murphy then was asked how he can put a slice of pizza in his pocket without staining the uniform. 'If it's cold pizza, you fold it up like a sandwich, you know what I mean,' Murphy said. 'You can eat it during the game. And then when I wear a hoodie, I have the pocket right here, and that's full of crumbs.' The Brewers will be selling a 'Ball Four Pocket Pack' including four pocket pancakes and a choice of maple syrup or strawberry compote dipping sauce for $4.99. The 'Double Chicken 'n' Pancakes Pocket Pack' costs $7.99 and includes two pancakes stuffed with chicken tender and topped with chopped bacon and a maple syrup drizzle. ___ AP MLB:

Kevin Warren says Bears are 'extremely focused' on building stadium in Arlington Heights

The Chicago Bears are in the market for a new stadium, and team president/CEO Kevin Warren shared a stadium update on Friday. Warren said the Bears remain "extremely focused" on building a stadium in Arlington Heights, the 326-acre property the organization bought in 2023 for nearly $200 million, and he said the organization is making great progress. The Bears are only considering Arlington Heights in Cook County, per Warren, and they are having weekly meetings with their leaders. 'We are still extremely focused on Arlington Heights," Warren said Friday. "…Plan is still to proceed forward this year.' The biggest thing standing in the way of the Bears breaking ground is a Mega Projects bill that remains on the docket. If it passes, Warren said the team is prepared to start construction immediately. Still, the goal is "to move dirt this year" and Warren is confident they'll be able to break ground in 2025. As for why the Bears won't be building in Chicago? Warren said finances didn't make sense for them to build a new stadium on the lakefront.
