Plattsburgh Holds on for Playoff Win

Yahoo26-02-2025

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Plattsburgh men's basketball team would hold on for a 69-66 playoff opening win verse Morrisville.
The Cardinals would break up a 28 all tie at the half, thanks to Franklin Infante producing some early point via shots and assists. The Cardinals would never trail again, building as much as a nine-point lead in the second half.
That would almost all completely go away, before Kevin Tabb would score 4 key points down the stretch to have enough and win on the Mustang's last effort three miss.
The win is the Card's first in 7 years, which was the last time they won the SUNYAC Championship. This is also the first playoff win for head coach Mike Blaine, since joining the Plattsburgh program 6 years ago.
The number 4 ranked Cardinals will now travel to New Paltz, the top seed, for a semifinal match up this coming Friday night.

Arizona Cardinals with 5 players taking it easy during mandatory minicamp

Arizona Cardinals with 5 players taking it easy during mandatory minicamp The Cardinals began mandatory minicamp with 100% attendance, but a few players will not have a full workload. The Arizona Cardinals began mandatory minicamp on Tuesday with 100% attendance, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Tuesday before practice. This makes sense, as it is mandatory and no one on the team is known to have any contract issues. However, a few players would not be getting a full workload. Gannon said the team is going to "take it easy" and "be smart" with a handful of players. Who are the players? Gannon mentioned: OLB Josh Sweat DL Justin Jones DL Dalvin Tomlinson WR Zay Jones CB Will Johnson He also said "a couple of other guys," which could include guys like linebacker BJ Ojulari, who missed all last season with an ACL tear, and tackle Jonah Williams, who played in only six games last year dealing with a knee injury that sidelined him twice. Sweat and Tomlinson are offseason additions in free agency. It would appear, based on their lack of participation in the open parts of voluntary OTAs the last two weeks, that they are dealing with minor injuries. Sweat, though, was seen getting some work in on the field during the open part of Tuesday's practice. Justin Jones is coming off a torn triceps that ended his season last year after only three games. He did participate some in OTAs. Zay Jones must be dealing with a minor injury, as he was in photos participating in practices in OTAs. Johnson, the Cardinals, second-round draft pick, has not signed his rookie contract yet and has dealt with some injuries. He had a foot injury that caused him to miss time last season at Michigan and he had a hamstring injury that limited his pre-draft work. Arizona Cardinals sign 1st-round pick Walter Nolen to rookie contract

Arizona Cardinals sign 1st-round pick Walter Nolen to rookie contract Nolen gets a four-year deal with a fifth-year team option worth $19.3 million, fully guaranteed. The Arizona Cardinals, on the first day of mandatory minicamp, signed their 2025 first-round draft pick. They announced Tuesday that defensive lineman Walter Nolen III signed his rookie contract, a four-year deal with a fifth-year team option. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $19.3 million with a $10.7 million signing bonus. Contracts for first-round picks are fully guaranteed. With Nolen under contract, the Cardinals have signed all but one of their seven draft picks. The only one left unsigned is cornerback Will Johnson, their second-round pick. Second-round picks are trickier to sign because they often get guaranteed salaries but have to negotiate how much of the deal is guaranteed. First-round contracts are fully guaranteed. Players drafted in the third round and beyond don't typically get any guaranteed salary. Nolen was drafted 16th overall by the Cardinals out of Ole Miss. 89 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 89?

89 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 89? With 89 days till the Cardinals open the season against the Saints, we look at the players who have worn No. 89. We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals and are now less than 13 weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 89 days away. As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let's look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals. Who has worn No. 89? Cardinals players to wear No. 89 No. 89 now belongs to second-year wideout Xavier Weaver, who made the team last year as an undrafted rookie. WR Xavier Weaver (2024-?) TE Blake Whiteheart (2023) TE Stephen Anderson (2022) TE Evan Baylis (2020) WR Andy Isabella (2019) TE Hakeem Valles (2016) TE John Carlson (2014) WR DeMarco Sampson (2011) TE Ben Patrick (2007-2010) TE Adam Bergen (2005-2006) WR Nate Poole (2003-2004) WR Larry Foster (2003) WR David Boston (1999-2002) WR Fred Brock (1997-1998) TE Jarius Hayes (1996) TE Wendell Gaines (1995) TE TErry Samuels (1994) TE Pat Beach (1993) TE Walter Reeves (1989-1992) TE Mark Walczak (1988) TE William Harris (1987) TE Cap Boso (1986) TE Greg LaFleur (1981-1986) TE Robert Stallings (1986) TE Gary Parris (1979-1980) WR Warren Anderson (1978) DL Tom Beckman (1972) TE Robert Brown (1969-1970) DL Dave Long (1966-1968) LB/DL/OL Chuck Weber (1956-1958) DB/DL Frank McPhee (1955) LB Denver Mills (1952) FB Marshall Goldberg (1941) No. 89 has rarely been for a player with any longevity. Boston clearly was the most impactful in team history. Anymore, No. 89 either is for a back-of-the-roster receiver or a tight end.
