Moment Shakira slips and falls on stage - a week after measles scare at concert

Daily Mail27-05-2025
Shakira fell on stage during a performing Whenever, Wherever last Tuesday at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
The three-time Grammy winner, 48, was in the middle of performing the high-energy track - a top 10 hit on Billboard 's charts in late 2001 - when she slipped and hit the ground.
A fan posted a clip of the fall on Instagram Stories, depicting the South American singer, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, losing her balance sideways and hitting the ground.
The three-time Grammy winner, last year speaking with The Sunday Times, said that the rumors she learned about ex Gerard Piqué's alleged cheating after discovering an out of place jam jar were 'not true.'
The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker and former soccer player, 37, parted ways in June of 2022; they are parents to two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine.
In the wake of his split with the South American singer, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, Piqué began a romance with Clara Chia Marti.
Adding to the speculation about the jam incident was the music video for Colombian singer's single Te Felicito, a collaboration with Rauw Alejandro, in April of 2022.
The video included a sequence in which Shakira was seen rummaging in her refrigerator, spurring on speculation about potential hints she was dropping ahead of the end of her relationship with Piqué.
The Hips Don't Lie vocalist faced questions about the sequence in a May 2022 appearance on the U.K. television show This Morning.
According to a translated transcript of the exchange on ShowNews Today, she said that she peered into the fridge in the clip in an effort 'to find the truth.'
The Whenever, Wherever artist added, 'It is when I go to the fridge and find the head of Rauw Alejandro.'
According to ShowNews Today, the Spanish TV show Socialite was the first to connect the jam incident, citing an interview with Shakira.
Shakira figured out someone else had been in the house, according to the outlet, leading her to suspect Piqué of two-timing her. The jam theory persisted via legions of the singer's fans posting on social media about it.
In the chat with The Sunday Times, Shakira also spoke about how she balanced her personal life with her professional life.
'For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football,' Shakira said. 'There was a lot of sacrifice for love.'
The musical artist is slated to release her next album, the Spanish language record Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry), via Sony Latin Friday.
She said that she channeled her strong emotions about her personal life into the album, as she focused on transforming her 'pain into creativity, frustration into productivity, anger into passion, vulnerability into resilience.'
She added, 'There were so many pieces of my life that crumbled in front of my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, picking up the bones from the floor and putting them all together. And the glue that kept it all together was music.'

Minnesota Vikings' male cheerleaders hit back at seismic backlash with pointed Instagram post

The Minnesota Vikings' male cheerleader Blaize Shiek appeared to take a dig at his critics after making his NFL debut. A rookie member of the Vikings' squad, Shiek is one of two male cheerleaders joining the sidelines ahead of the 2025 season, alongside Louie Conn. However, Shiek and Conn's inclusion in the squad has sparked shocking backlash from NFL fans, with some of Minnesota's supporters even threatening to cancel their season tickets. But the duo blocked out the noise as they hit back at their detractors with a pointed comment in a social media post. The beaming pair shared a photo of themselves waving their golden pom-poms as they posed in their cheerleading uniforms. 'wait... did someone say our name?' Shiek wrote in the caption, referencing the furor around their inclusion. Shiek and fellow male cheerleader Louie Conn took to Instagram to take aim at the critics The duo took to the field for the first time earlier this month when the Vikings opened their preseason schedule against the Houston Texans at US Bank Stadium. Male cheerleaders have been present in the NFL since 2018 but with their growing prominence in the league, some fans have begun to take issue with it. Yet, the Vikings also fired back at the critics, defending Shiek and Conn amid the ongoing controversy. 'While many fans may be seeing male cheerleaders for the first time at Vikings games, male cheerleaders have been part of previous Vikings teams and have long been associated with collegiate and professional cheerleading,' a statement from the team earlier this week. 'In 2025, approximately one third of NFL teams have male cheerleaders. Every member of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders program has an impressive dance background and went through the same rigorous audition process. 'Individuals were selected because of their talent, passion for dance and dedication to elevating the game day experience. We support all our cheerleaders and are proud of the role they play as ambassadors of the organization.' The Vikings aren't the only NFL team to have faced backlash over the past week over the male members of their cheer squad. The New Orleans Saints also found themselves on the receiving end of outrage during preseason after announcing that they have hired more male cheerleaders ahead the upcoming season. The franchise confirmed that there will be a total of 13 men on the 2025 Saints Cheer Krewe Roster after three women were replaced following tryouts. Joining the Saints and the Vikings, this season, the Panthers, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Colts, Titans, Patriots, 49ers, Eagles, Rams, abd Ravens will all feature male cheerleaders in their squad. The Los Angeles Rams claimed to have made history in 2018 when they added Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies to their dance squad. However, despite co-ed cheerleading squads becoming common practice in the league, some football fans still take issue. But many within the sporting world have defended the male cheerleaders, including former Fox Sports analyst Joy Taylor, who mocked those critics. 'So teaching kids (that) slavery was not a big deal is acceptable but male cheerleaders is where "conservatives" draw the line,' she wrote on social media alongside three laughing emojis. 'Also this isn't new so as usual, OUTRAGE over nothing.'

"Weapons" maintained top spot during second weekend, scaring off newcomer "Nobody 2"

'Weapons' scared its way to the top of the box office in its debut and managed to stay there during its second box office weekend, beating out 'Freakier Friday' and newcomer 'Nobody 2.' Zach Cregger's horror earned $25 million in 3,450 North American theaters, a 43% drop from its first weekend. The highly anticipated film benefitted from strong audience reviews and social media trends to attract large crowds. 'Freakier Friday,' which lost the battle for first place to 'Weapons' during its double premiere, also maintained its second spot, bringing in $14.5 million domestically. The films' staying power comes during a slower box office weekend, said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for the data firm Comscore. Both films also prevailed against 'Nobody 2,' the R-rated action sequel. The Bob Odenkirk-led film earned $9.25 million across 3,260 North American theaters in its debut weekend. 'August came on strong last year, so it makes comparisons tough,' Dergarabedian said, noting the box office success of movies like 'Deadpool and Wolverine' and the horror sci-fi 'Alien: Romulus' that premiered this time last year. This summer is unlikely to hit the $4 billion benchmark, but succeeded in provided movie goers a dynamic and diverse slate of movies, he said. "I can't find a genre that's not represented or a demographic that wouldn't be attracted to one of these films out there," Dergarabedian said. 'It's just that eclectic mix of films with appeal to every demographic.' 'Nobody 2' follows the pandemic success of the first in the series, 'Nobody," which released in 2021. In the sequel, Hutch Mansell, the assassin-turned-nice-guy, played by Odenkirk, returns to the big screen, this time taking a much-needed family vacation that goes awry. The calm weekend turns anything but as Mansell uncovers a corrupt town. Jim Orr, president of domestic distributions at Universal Pictures, said he hopes the movie's reaction scores — a 89% Audience score and B+ CinemaScore — point 'to a long and successful run at the domestic box office.' 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps" took the fourth spot during its fourth weekend in theaters, bringing in $8.8 million domestically. The film stumbled at the box office after its initially strong $118 million debut. Another sequel, 'The Bad Guys 2,' took fifth place with $7.5 million during its third weekend in theaters. Notably, Dergarabedian said, international movies made a splash in the top 15 this weekend. 'Coolie,' an Indian action thriller, debuted domestically and snatched the tenth spot, followed by 'War 2,' another Indian action movie, at number 11. The domestic re-release of 'Shin Godzilla," a Japanese film that initially premiered in 2016, came in at the 12th spot. Top 10 movies by domestic box office With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore: 1. 'Weapons,' $25 million. 2. 'Freakier Friday,' $14.5 million. 3. 'Nobody 2,' $9.25 million. 4. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' $8.8 million. 5. 'The Bad Guys 2,' $7.5 million. 6. 'Superman,' $5.3 million. 7. 'The Naked Gun,' $4.8 million. 8. 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' $2.9 million. 9. 'F1: The Movie,' $2.6 million. 10. 'Coolie," $2.4 million.

Fake Or Fortune drama as art collector takes a gamble and turns down HUGE sum for his 'lost masterpiece' painting

An art collector is set to cause some 'high drama' on BBC show Fake Or Fortune? as he turns down a huge sum of money for his 'lost masterpiece painting'. Artist David Taylor originally purchased the oil canvas for £2000 for its appearance alone before experts later identified it as the missing artwork by 20th century Canadian impressionist Helen McNicoll. However, David raises plenty of eyebrows when he rejects the whopping offer of £300,000 from a private collector and instead decides to take a gamble at auction, reports The Mirror. The painting in question, called The Bean Harvest, had been 'missing' for 110 years, having last been spotted at an exhibition at London 's Royal Academy in 1915. David appeared on the BBC programme last year, where presenters Fiona Bruce and Philip Mould helped him prove the painting's authenticity. Helen McNicoll's signature was only discovered when David removed the artwork - which depicts a woman picking beans in a field - from the frame, with art dealer Phillip then estimating it to be worth between £150,000-£200,000. Helen McNicoll, who went deaf from the age of two, is one of Canada's most celebrated artists and known for her impressionist representations of rural landscapes. Her flourishing career was cut short in 1915 when she died aged 35 following complications from diabetes. When the hosts later revisited David, he was keen to sell, with billionaire philanthropist and private collector Pierre Lassonde - who is a major collector of McNicoll's work - showing a keen interest in the art. Canadian Pierre flew to London to see the painting in person before going on to offer David £300k for the masterpiece. He said of the work: 'For a painting that has been missing for 110 years, I think it's fantastic... I wouldn't mind adding one more piece to my collection.' However, David went on to reject the offer and decided to try his luck at Sotheby's auction house in London, with the hopes that the cash from the sale would help fund the purchase of a bungalow which he needed for health reasons. The results of this auction is set to be seen in an upcoming episode of Fake Or Fortune. Commenting on David's actions, host Fiona remarked: 'There's some high drama with this picture', states the publication. The Bean Harvest artwork went on view at London's Sotheby's in November 2024, with viewers set to see in an upcoming episode whether David's gamble has paid off While Lincoln-based artist David noted: 'I needed to sell it. I couldn't insure a £300,000 painting so I had to do something with it. 'Sotheby's were there and they said: "we have got a sale coming up", so I thought that tis was perfect. I am hoping for a record price.' A source told The Mirror: 'Who'd guessed that Fake Or Fortune? would end up like David Dickenson's Real Deal? Owner rejects a huge offer and tries his luck at auction, it's gripping stuff.' An insider added: 'Viewers are left waiting until the very last minutes of the show to find out whether he is a big winner - or a big loser.' The results of the auction will be aired on Fake Or Fortune: What Happened Next on Monday 25 August at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
