Shakira's world tour in turmoil after singer cancels SIX shows... leaving fans outraged
Shakira is currently in hot water with her fans after cancelling a sixth show on her sold-out Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour. Reasons for the multiple cancellations have included hospitalization, safety issues, and technical difficulties. The Colombian singer, 48, recently axed three shows in three days, with the most recent being for a WorldPride show in Washington, DC. Around 5pm EST on Friday, the venue posted a statement reading, 'Due to complications with the previous show in Boston, Shakira's full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time for her scheduled performance at Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31.' Shakira also issued a statement of her own, telling TMZ, 'I have been counting the days, excited to be reunited with my fans in both Washington and Boston, and my team and I have made every effort to make it happen, but it doesn't depend on any one of us right now, and I am devastated that these shows were just not possible this time.' She added, 'I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you as soon as I can.' It comes after the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker had to cancel two back-to-back shows scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Boston's Fenway Park. The cancellations were due to city inspectors identifying 'structural elements that were not up to standard,' according to TMZ. Fans online haven't taken kindly to the cancellations, with many flooding Shakira's Instagram account with angry comments. 'I traveled with my family from Pittsburgh, took time off work, and paid for an Airbnb — all for this one special occasion. This was supposed to be my daughter's birthday gift,' complained one. 'I've waited 30 years to see you. You wait less than 24 hours to cancel a sold out crowd in Washington DC. I thought highly of you and hoped you had the courtesy to not let your most devoted fans down. I'm heart broken. Lots of people traveled and took time off to see you. This is just gut wrenching,' wrote another. A third commented, 'Terrible! Never again! Second cancellation… first because the venues weren't big enough. Now because they can't bring equipment?! I guess those hips do lie.' A fourth wrote, 'Go out with the musicians and just sing! Without any show if it is impossible to do. I was at a concert where there were problems and the musician just took the pianist and made a concert. Don't leave people at the door. You are rich, and people save up for a trip to you and spend their last money and weekends. There is some kind of empathy. I am honestly in such shock.' Shakira officially kicked off the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour in Brazil back in February. Despite the string of issues, the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour has become highest grossing Latin American concert by a female artist Less than a month into the tour, the star postponed a total of four shows in Latin America – one for medical reasons and three due stage production issues. After postponing two back-to-back shows in Chile, Shakira attempted to make it up to her fans by delivering an impromptu performance of Antología from her hotel balcony, where hundreds had gathered to catch a glimpse of the star. She also issued a statement, blaming production problems. 'When an artist travels to a country, their production and team become directly dependent on the local producers,' she explained. 'My staff and I trusted at all times that the production company hired by the local promoter would follow to the letter the specifications that were diligently provided by us so that a show of the magnitude of this one could take place.' She also rescheduled a number of North American dates last year, citing the need to upgrade venues from arenas to stadiums to meet demands. Despite the string of issues, the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour has become highest grossing Latin American concert by a female artist, surpassing Karol G's Mañana Será Bonito tour. Her Mexican and South American shows have already grossed a staggering $130 million with just 21 shows. As reported by Billboard, Shakira's is the only Latin tour to reach Top 10 of the 2025 midyear Boxscore Report, ranking number two globally. It falls behind Coldplay, who earned $142 million with 1.3 million people turning up for 20 shows between October 31, 2024 and March 31, 2025.

Moment Shakira slips and falls on stage - a week after measles scare at concert
Shakira fell on stage during a performing Whenever, Wherever last Tuesday at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The three-time Grammy winner, 48, was in the middle of performing the high-energy track - a top 10 hit on Billboard 's charts in late 2001 - when she slipped and hit the ground. A fan posted a clip of the fall on Instagram Stories, depicting the South American singer, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, losing her balance sideways and hitting the ground. The three-time Grammy winner, last year speaking with The Sunday Times, said that the rumors she learned about ex Gerard Piqué's alleged cheating after discovering an out of place jam jar were 'not true.' The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker and former soccer player, 37, parted ways in June of 2022; they are parents to two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine. In the wake of his split with the South American singer, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, Piqué began a romance with Clara Chia Marti. Adding to the speculation about the jam incident was the music video for Colombian singer's single Te Felicito, a collaboration with Rauw Alejandro, in April of 2022. The video included a sequence in which Shakira was seen rummaging in her refrigerator, spurring on speculation about potential hints she was dropping ahead of the end of her relationship with Piqué. The Hips Don't Lie vocalist faced questions about the sequence in a May 2022 appearance on the U.K. television show This Morning. According to a translated transcript of the exchange on ShowNews Today, she said that she peered into the fridge in the clip in an effort 'to find the truth.' The Whenever, Wherever artist added, 'It is when I go to the fridge and find the head of Rauw Alejandro.' According to ShowNews Today, the Spanish TV show Socialite was the first to connect the jam incident, citing an interview with Shakira. Shakira figured out someone else had been in the house, according to the outlet, leading her to suspect Piqué of two-timing her. The jam theory persisted via legions of the singer's fans posting on social media about it. In the chat with The Sunday Times, Shakira also spoke about how she balanced her personal life with her professional life. 'For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football,' Shakira said. 'There was a lot of sacrifice for love.' The musical artist is slated to release her next album, the Spanish language record Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry), via Sony Latin Friday. She said that she channeled her strong emotions about her personal life into the album, as she focused on transforming her 'pain into creativity, frustration into productivity, anger into passion, vulnerability into resilience.' She added, 'There were so many pieces of my life that crumbled in front of my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, picking up the bones from the floor and putting them all together. And the glue that kept it all together was music.'

Shakira Falls Onstage During ‘Whenever, Wherever' Performance at Montreal Concert
Shakira experienced a slight mishap during her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour stop at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on Tuesday (May 20). While performing her 2001 hit 'Whenever, Wherever,' the Colombian superstar slipped and fell onstage. Fan-captured footage shows Shakira just about to launch into the song — which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 — when she lost her footing, slid forward and tumbled sideways onto the stage. 'She handled it like the boss that she is,' one fan wrote on X. Another added, 'A great example of resilience! I hope she didn't get injured. Such falls cause pains and injuries the next morning.' This isn't the first setback of Shakira's Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour. Back in February, she was forced to postpone back-to-back shows at Lima, Peru's Estadio Nacional due to a health issue. 'I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,' she shared on Instagram at the time. 'I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today,' she added, expressing how much she had been looking forward to reuniting with her fans in Peru. Since its launch on Feb. 11 in Rio de Janeiro, the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour has featured surprise guest appearances from musical heavyweights like Grupo Frontera, Carlos Vives, Maluma, Wyclef Jean, Alejandro Sanz, Ozuna and Rauw Alejandro. The global trek landed Shakira at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Tours chart for March. She previously led February's list with $32.9 million in reported earnings and doubled that figure in the another recent update. As of late April, the tour had brought in $70.6 million from 11 reported shows, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. The North American leg continues with upcoming stops in Toronto, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco. The tour heads to Mexico in August and September, followed by a return to Peru in November for the two resculed shows. Shakira decided last minute to add 'Hips Don't Lie' to her album
Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' almost never made it onto her album. The 48-year-old singer had completed work on her 2005 record 'Oral Fixation, Vol. 2' but she then got into the studio with Wylcef Jean and knew instantly they had a hit on their hands, so she called her record company boss and begged him to pull the LP so the extra track could be added. Speaking on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she said: "I remember my album was already distributed, and then this idea came up, and Wyclef and I met and we started working on this track.'I started working with Wyclef, and I knew I had a hit, so I called Donny Lenner, who was in charge at the time of [Epic Records], and I said, 'Donny, you have to pick up the albums from the stores,' and he's like, 'No way, these albums are already out there. "I'm like, 'You've got to believe me. You've got to trust me. You do that, we have a hit.' And he said, 'OK, so I'll listen to you. I'll listen to you on this one,' and he did it and we kind of had to repackage the albums, and it changed my story." The collaboration with Wyclef came right after Shakira had spookily had a dream about him. She said: "You know, the funniest thing is that I had a dream, the most random dream about Wyclef. It wasn't a sexual dream! It was just a dream. And then I woke up and my manager called me and said, 'Wyclef wants to work with you.' " Meanwhile, Shakira is proud to have sold out 11 shows in Mexico City and have the number one tour in the world for the second month in a row and she thinks its a special experience for fans. She said: 'It's incredible. I've been working on this tour for a year, preparing every single detail, from the visuals to the music. I've put together my biggest set list. I'm singing some of my classic songs, from 'Hips Don't Lie' to 'Whenever, Whatever' to the most recent ones. 'And it's a pretty huge production. It's a huge effort to tour with this production around Latin America. It's probably the biggest production that's ever traveled Latin America. It weighs like 93 tons. The screen is huge and it's 145 people traveling… "So when you show up and you see so many people dancing and singing and crying and getting emotional. It's a party, but people really, really connect with this music. It's been like the soundtrack of their lives, for many of my fans.'
