Dead man found near railway tracks in Hulu Selangor was strangled, say cops

The Star4 days ago
KUALA LUMPUR: A post-mortem on the body of a man found near the railway tracks in Sungai Serian, Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor on Thursday (July 31) confirmed that the victim died from strangulation using a rope.
Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ibrahim Husin said the victim's identity has yet to be determined, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"There were strangulation marks on the victim's neck, believed to have been caused by a rope. The marks are suspected to match the rope (resembling a chain) worn around the victim's neck,' he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 1).
The man's body was discovered by a member of the public at around 10.30am on Thursday, with his hands and feet bound, and his head wrapped in cloth and secured with black and white tape.
According to Supt Ibrahim, preliminary investigations suggest the body was likely thrown off the Kampung Sungai Serian bridge, which is 11.15m high.
Checks revealed that the victim had been dead for more than four days, and no identification documents were found on him.
Members of the public with information are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Fadli Abdul Aziz at 03-6064 1222 or the nearest police station. — Bernama
