Kavitha's letter good fodder for family drama on OTT space: Bandi
Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that Telangana, once a symbol of movements and self-respect, has become a hotbed for political dramas.
Taking a dig at Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha, he said on Friday that the letter written to the father of a liquor queen, entangled in the Delhi liquor scam, resembles an OTT family drama. If it had been released under 'The Arrow Dropped by Congress,' it might have set new records in the OTT space, he alleged.
Both Congress and BRS are lamenting over the BJP's inability to provide good governance in Telangana. The BJP has consistently opposed hereditary politics, whether it pertains to the Gandhi family or the Kalvakuntla family. It is evident that such family-run parties blame their troubles on the public, instilling unnecessary fears and anxieties, he said.
He stated that individuals who violate the law and engage in corrupt practices face legal consequences. The law will not overlook any wrongdoing in this regard. 'The people of Telangana are becoming increasingly aware of the current situation in the state and are largely uninterested in the political dramas played out by family-run parties. The era of family-centric politics in Telangana is coming to an end. The people now seek development and a party that aligns with their hopes and aspirations. That is why every survey indicates that the blooming of the lotus flower is essential. The people of Telangana are eager to break free from the control of family parties and desire transparent governance, waiting to usher in a change in leadership in the state,' he added.
Meanwhile, BJP MP DK Aruna responded to MLC Kavitha's letter by questioning why Kavitha wrote a letter to her father. Does she not have the opportunity to meet KCR directly, or is a political feud with her brother KTR influenced her decision to write the letter? She also asked whether Kavitha drafted the original letter herself, and if so, how it became public and who leaked it.

Three 800MW power plant units approved for Punjab
Chandigarh: Union power minister Manohar Lal Khattar approved the setting up of three additional 800 MW power generation units in the state, announced Punjab power minister Harbhajan Singh on Friday. Who will be next BJP national president? All eyes on these three heavyweights
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to shift focus to organisational matters, particularly the appointment of its next national president. While the party has made no official announcement yet, sources suggest that internal deliberations are underway and a formal process could begin as early as mid-June. According to sources cited by Live Hindustan, the BJP has completed organisational elections in most states, which are a necessary precondition under the party constitution before electing the next national president. The recent announcement of 70 district presidents in Uttar Pradesh has further fuelled speculation that the central leadership may soon decide on the BJP chief post. However, the process is said to have been briefly delayed in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu, and Kashmir on April 22. Party sources reportedly indicate that before the national-level appointment, the BJP may first finalise new state unit presidents in key states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. In Uttar Pradesh, where caste equations are pivotal, a Brahmin face was reportedly being considered earlier. However, a growing demand for an OBC leader has emerged within sections of the party, reported Live Hindustan. This shift could reflect the BJP's broader attempt to consolidate its OBC support base, particularly after recent electoral trends. In Madhya Pradesh, the current leadership structure has an OBC Chief Minister and a Brahmin state president – a balance that has so far worked for the party. However, sources suggest the party is now considering appointing a tribal leader as the state chief, given the relatively low tribal representation in the current state and national leadership. In Uttarakhand, a Brahmin leader is said to be the frontrunner for the state president's post, although no official confirmation has been made. Even as the state-level equations are being finalised, names of potential contenders for the national president's post have started doing the rounds in party circles. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a key OBC leader from Odisha, known for his organisational acumen and proximity to the central leadership is one of the key bigwigs in the race for the party's president post. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has emerged as another top contender. A former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and now a union minister, is seen as a mass leader with grassroots experience. Manohar Lal Khattar, who recently transitioned from his role as Haryana chief minister to the union cabinet, could represent continuity and administrative experience; hence, he is said to be one of the big three names the BJP may choose from. According to sources, the party's final choice is likely to factor in organisational experience, regional representation, and caste balance. The current national president, JP Nadda, has held the post since January 2020. His term was extended to steer the party through the 2024 general elections. With that mandate now fulfilled, leadership transition discussions have gained momentum. A central election committee is expected to be constituted to oversee the election process, which will include nomination filing, scrutiny, and, if necessary, voting. As of now, it is unclear whether Nadda will seek a second full term or the party will opt for a fresh face. Opposition parties , including the Congress and AAP, are said to be following the developments closely. The new chief will be instrumental in framing electoral narratives ahead of crucial state elections in 2026 and the next Lok Sabha polls in 2029.

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is working tirelessly with a vision to create a strong, self-reliant and self-sufficient developed country for future generations. While addressing the media during his visit to the BJP State Headquarters on Friday, the Minister noted that the Modi-3.0 administration will complete one year on June 9. Over the past 11 years, the government has operated with the motto 'Nation First,' aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 agenda. He emphasised that India has surpassed Japan and is now the fourth-largest economy in the world. Economists project that India could become the third largest economy, surpassing Germany, with a five trillion USD economy by 2027. Sanjay Seth urged BJP party activists and the public to actively participate in the Viksit Bharat agenda. He pointed out that previously, India was a major importer of defense equipment and had not achieved self-reliance in fulfilling a significant portion of its defense needs through domestic production. However, the country is now exporting defense equipment to around 90 countries. He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Indian defense forces demonstrated their valor during Operation Sindoor, which successfully destroyed nine terrorist hubs inside Pakistan in just 22 minutes. This operation showcases India's military prowess and the preparedness of its forces. Additionally, the Minister mentioned the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative, which involves the mass plantation of saplings across the country. He said that Tiranga Yatras are being organised even in villages, as the local populations wished to express their support for the soldiers guarding the borders thousands of miles away. Earlier, during a meeting with senior leaders of the state party, BJP National Vice-President and Mahbubnagar MP DK Aruna honored Sanjay Seth for his contributions.
