Galaxy Watch 8 series specs and prices leak, and it's expensive

TL;DR The specifications and the prices of the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra (2025) have leaked.
The report also confirms the color variants of the three smartwatches, including a Noir (presumably, black) Watch 8 Classic.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra remains largely unchanged, with the only notable exception being its additional blue color.
The Samsung Unpacked event, set for later this week, has been preceded by a flurry of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 leaks. While the foldables have seized most of the limelight, the Galaxy Watch 8 series is also grabbing attention with a recent leak.
Following recent leaks that highlighted Samsung's shift towards a squircle body, a new report by French website Dealabs reveals the specifications and tentative prices of the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025).
Confirmed specifications include details about the 40mm and 44mm variants of the Galaxy Watch 8, which will feature 1.44-inch and 1.47-inch displays, respectively. Color options are limited to silver and graphite, while Samsung continues to use aluminum for the chassis.
Both size variants witness a slight bump in individual battery capacities compared to the two sizes of the Watch 7. However, there is no information about the charging speed, which is expected to remain at 10W.

The Galaxy Watch 8 will reportedly also be reasonably slimmer than the Watch 7, now measuring 8.6mm across both sizes, down from 9.7mm previously. The lateral increase in size presumably allows Samsung to spread out the internals sandwiched between the front glass and the rear panel and make the smartwatch slimmer.
Despite its bigger dimensions, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic gets the same 1.34″ display as the smaller 40mm Watch 8. This is likely to accommodate a physical ring with indices around the display. The Classic, however, gets a large 445mAh battery and twice the internal storage as the regular Watch 8, at 64GB.

The Galaxy Watch 8 also gets a more premium build, complete with a stainless steel frame and the iconic rotating dial, which is absent from the standard variants. It will be available in 'Noir' and 'Blanc' color variants, which are French words for black and white. Notably, only the white (actually, silver) colorway was previously leaked.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) continues the tradition of being molded from titanium and will be available in blue, gray, white, and silver colors, along with sports-style bands. The Watch Ultra will sport a larger 1.47″ display, identical to the previous generation, and no visible design changes. Battery capacities and the dimensions of the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) remain unchanged, too.
Notably, another set of Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) images leaked by the Dutch site Nieuwe Mobile reveals that Samsung will keep the same model number as the last generation. So, the only change we witness here is the new Blue color.
Nieuwe Mobile
Notably, the displays across all three models have been upgraded; they will now boast 3,000 nits of brightness and be protected under Sapphire glass. The choice of processor also remains the same as last year, with Samsung's own Exynos W1000 driving all three. Given that the platform was only upgraded last year, a new one made little sense.
All models are also expected to run One UI 8 Watch, which is already available in beta for older models.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series leaked prices
Along with the specifications of the Galaxy Watch 8, the leak also discloses the probable pricing of these watches. Here's what each of the models is reported to be priced at in France: Galaxy Watch 8 : 40mm Bluetooth-only: €379.99 40mm LTE: €429.99 44mm Bluetooth-only: €409.99 44mm LTE: €459.99
: Galaxy Watch 8 Classic : Bluetooth-only: €529.99 LTE: €579.99
: Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) with LTE: €579.99
While the prices of the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic have increased by up to €60, the price of the Watch Ultra remains the same.

Groq launches its first European data centre in Helsinki

US-based artificial intelligence (AI) chipmaker Groq has unveiled a new data centre in Helsinki, Finland. The new facility will cater to the growing demand for AI inference services in the European region. Additionally, it will offer reduced latency, quicker response times, and enhanced data governance. The new data centre, Groq's first in Europe, has been established in partnership with US-based Equinix, a global digital infrastructure company. It further solidifies the association between both companies, building on their previous site in Dallas, Texas, US. Jonathan Ross, CEO and founder of Groq, remarked that the new European data centre offers the lowest possible latency and ready infrastructure. "As demand for AI inference continues at an ever-increasing pace, we know that those building fast need more – more capacity, more efficiency, and with a cost that scales,' he further added. Regina Donato Dahlstrom, managing director for the Nordics at Equinix, reaffirmed Finland as a standout choice for hosting the new data centre. She attributed it to the country's sustainable energy policies, free cooling, and reliable power grid. "Combining Groq's cutting-edge technology with Equinix's global infrastructure and vendor-neutral connectivity solutions enables efficient AI inference at scale,' she added. Headquartered in the US state of California, Groq builds AI accelerator application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). It has around 500 employees globally. Last year, it announced an expansion in Saudi Arabia. "Groq launches its first European data centre in Helsinki" was originally created and published by Investment Monitor, a GlobalData owned brand. One of Tesla's most important shareholders says all's well with Elon Musk and the EV maker

The CEO of Norway's $1.9 trillion sovereign wealth fund may have clashed with Elon Musk over his controversial Tesla (TSLA) pay package, but that hasn't shaken his long-term view on the EV maker. Led by Nicolai Tangen, the Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) is one of Tesla's top 10 shareholders, with a 1.1% stake. Last June, it voted against Musk's $45 billion pay plan, which resulted in a public rebuke from Musk. But Tangen insists there's no bad blood. "I don't think there's any problems there," Tangen told Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi on a new episode of the Opening Bid podcast (watch above; listen below). On whether the two might patch things up, Tangen briefly mentioned the possibility, saying the duo are "professional." This embedded content is not available in your region. NBIM's position in Tesla makes it one of the most influential voices in its shareholder base, not just because of its size, but because of its reputation for corporate governance and long-term investing. The fund holds nearly 1.5% of all listed companies worldwide; notable holdings include Nvidia (NVDA) and Google (GOOG). Tangen, who was just reappointed to a second term as CEO of the fund, acknowledged the controversy around Tesla and Musk, from the CEO's unpredictable social media posts to his political dustups, including a recent bout with President Trump. "There are a lot of elements which impact the share price of this company," Tangen said. "Tesla was one of the first electric cars into the Norwegian market, but in terms of the stock itself, I haven't got a strong view." He added, "It's a manufacturer, it's a tech company. It's all of the above." Those comments come as Tesla grapples with renewed scrutiny over its fundamentals. Last week, the company reported second quarter deliveries of 384,122 vehicles, a 13% year-over-year drop. In Europe, one of Tesla's key markets, new car sales fell for the fifth consecutive month in May, down nearly 28% from the prior year. William Blair analysts downgraded Tesla to Market Perform on Monday, warning that political and regulatory headwinds could weigh more heavily on the company than investors expect. In a note led by Jed Dorsheimer and Mark Shooter, the team flagged the loss of over $2 billion in annual credit revenue following the removal of corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) fines. "Instead of dismantling the CAFE standards, the BBB removed the teeth," they wrote, cautioning that the change could trigger a direct hit to Tesla's profitability and pressure its margins. The firm also slashed its earnings forecast for 2025 by 39%. The analysts estimated that 75% of Tesla's environmental credit revenue, which made up 16% of its total gross profit in 2024, could vanish over the next two years. Even so, some on Wall Street, including Piper Sandler, continue to see upside, especially when it comes to Tesla's autonomous driving efforts. In a note led by Alexander Potter, the firm labeled Tesla as the "most transformative company in autos," adding that in the long run, it was "likely to win." Meanwhile, Musk's decision to enter the political fray, launching a new "America Party" over the July 4 weekend, has William Blair analysts questioning his focus. "We expect investors are growing tired of the distraction at a point when the business needs Musk's attention the most," the firm wrote, anticipating a downside from his "dip back into politics." Amotio secures £810k to advance orthopaedic revision surgery

Welsh startup Amotio has raised £810,000 ($1.1m) to advance its technology for improving outcomes during orthopaedic revision surgery. The company's first major pre-seed funding round was led by a £500,000 ($682,000) investment from the Development Bank of Wales, with additional backing from European investment firm NLC Health Ventures and Orthopaedic Research UK. Implant fixation takes the approach of uncemented fixation, where an implant is anchored to the bone, or cemented, where an implant is fixed using a compound made of Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA). However, research from the UK indicates that around 7% of hip, knee, and shoulder implants require replacement due to issues such as implant failure, infection, loosening, or bone fractures. Amotio worked with biomechanical engineers from University Medical Center Utrecht to develop a solution for removing bone cement during hip revision surgery. The technology uses advanced digital joint mapping, 3D printing, and precision tools. Starting with a patient's CT scan, the system allows surgeons to collaborate with Amotio to create the surgical plan, including a custom-made guide and a specialised device for safe bone cement removal. Through early-stage investment and non-dilutive funding, Amotio has now raised around £1.6m ($2.1m), which will support the company's ongoing R&D and eventually help it progress to pre-clinical testing and regulatory approval for the technology. Amotio's eventual expectation is to expand its technology for use in all major joint surgeries for patients in global markets including the US, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific. Amotio CEO Iestyn Foster commented: 'In current financial conditions it is extremely difficult as a medtech start-up to attract initial early stage investment, but with the support of our co-founder and investor NLC Health Ventures, specialist venture funds from ORUK, and the Development Bank of Wales, they have all understood the complex needs of our business and the impact our solution will make, along with our ambitions for future growth.' In the US, major joint replacement surgeries among those aged 50 and above are projected to reach five million by 2030.
