In an age dominated by superheroes, the best of these movies are on Disney+. The streamer has all the MCU films, meaning you can watch many superhero movies there.
If you're trying to narrow in on a single movie that's worth your time, though, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the best movie to start with. The film, which is a sequel to 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, isn't part of the MCU but is nonetheless one of the more inventive superhero movies ever made. Following Miles Morales in the aftermath of the first film, we see him learn about an entire multiverse filled with spider-people and also come to understand just how much he wants to forge his own path. It's absolutely stunning to look at
Perhaps the most important reason to check out Across the Spider-Verse is to witness the stunning visual achievement. The movie's animation changes style as its characters move between various universes inside of their multiverse, and the animation also means that shots can be expressive of their characters' internal lives.
Gwen Stacey's watercolor-inflected universe is beautiful, but every spot the characters visit in this movie is a visual feast, so much so that if you pause any random frame, there'll be a dozen fascinating things to look at.
It features an utterly relentless plot
Although Across the Spider-Verse is fairly long at two hours and 20 minutes, the film moves at a pretty relentless clip. We follow Miles as he reunites with Gwen. Miles learns that Spider-People from all over the universe are collaborating to prevent breaches between universes, and then Miles decides to write his own story.
It's a remarkably linear film that nevertheless seems to know where it's going and has a firm handle on its central characters and how they relate to one another.
It's referential in all the best ways
Much like Into the Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse is referential to the rest of the Spider-Man universe without being obnoxious about it. It's a movie about what it means to love Spider-Man that nevertheless acknowledges all the ways loving a character can lead you to reject anyone trying to do something new with it.
Few movies understand the appeal of a character as well as this one does, even as Across the Spider-Verse dares us to ask whether any character should ever be forced to stay the same for decades and decades.

Ted Danson admits he's 'nauseatingly in love' with wife Mary Steenburgen as couple reunites on screen
Ted Danson and wife Mary Steenburgen are "nauseatingly in love" after nearly 30 years of marriage. During SiriusXM's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" podcast, Danson – who hosts the show with Woody Harrelson – told guest Brett Goldstein that he will be working with his wife, actress Mary Steenburgen, in season two of "Man On The Inside." He also explained that starring alongside each other in the show has made them fall in love again. "Oh, it's just magical. We're falling in love. The story evolves, but I'm just head-over-heels in love with her and to sit there on camera and look into your wife's eyes…. And we're nauseatingly in love in private life and to just disappear into her eyes in front of a camera is pretty astounding," Danson said. Goldstein asked Danson how working alongside his wife has been, and the actor replied, "Oh, it's delicious." Goldstein was full of questions and told Danson, "I am freaked out by the idea of couples who act together. How does it work? And how do you leave your house? You go to work together, in the car? And then what happens? Did you act together before you got together?" Danson explained that he met his wife on the set of a movie, but he learned quickly he had to check his ego "at the door." "I realized part of my job is to host my wife. I was here last year. I am this 'Man on the Inside.' And if she doesn't have a wonderful time, I'm an a--hole. And that's on me. And that's just my attitude," Danson said. Danson and Steenburgen first met in 1983 and married in 1995. They each have two children from previous marriages. In January, Steenburgen admitted that she thought Danson was a bit of a ladies' man before she met him – similar to the character he played on "Cheers" from 1982 to 1993. "I admired him so much as an actor, but I didn't personally know him, and I had this stupid idea that he was, like, maybe kind of a slick guy," she told People at the time. However, she soon realized "how wrong" she was. "Slick guys don't say, 'gosh-a-rooni,' after making love. I'd like to apologize to my granddaughters," she jokingly added. She added that there's a reason Danson is "treasured" by everyone he works with. "He's just so loving and takes such joy in acting that all of us who are hard at work away from our families for long hours get to work on a set that is dictated by his kindness," she said. She continued, "I also fell in love with the sort of father that he is and with his beloved daughters... Ted loves them with all his heart and yet had space in there to love my Lilly and Charlie so perfectly as well. It's pretty thrilling to go through life with Ted Danson." The couple's best quality time is very early in the morning, according to Danson. "The most fun is the early mornings," Danson told People of their 4:30 togetherness time. "Coffee in bed, playing Wordle, Connections, and Spelling Bee, talking and laughing and sharing. To both of us, it's like heaven on Earth." He added, "Even if she's working in a different time zone, we will wake up in time to be able to play our games and have coffee over the phone."

Henry Winkler Recalls 'Arguing' with Now-Wife Stacey's Then-4-Year-Old Son After the Child Called Him 'Fonz' When They Met
During a June 9 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Henry Winkler recalled his first date with his wife, Stacey Weitzman He recalled "arguing" with her son, Jed, and a funny realization that his future bride had when they arrived at the movie theater for their fateful night out The couple wed in 1978 and went on to have two more kidsHenry Winkler is looking back on his very first date with his wife of nearly 50 years, Stacey Weitzman. While making an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, June 9, to discuss his new show Hazardous History, the 79-year-old Happy Days alum fondly shared some memories from the first time that he took his wife out after they met in 1976. Notably, Winkler recalled two conversations that took place on that fateful night when he took his future bride to see a movie. "We go to the movies, and I said, 'It would be better if we sat toward the back of the theater.' And Stacey said, 'Why?' And I said, 'It's hard to describe. It would be better if we sat at the back of the theater,'" Winkler shared, adding that she still did not understand. He explained to host Seth Meyers that their night out came amid the height of his fame on Happy Days, where he played the iconic character Fonzie. What happened? "We sat down in the middle of the theater, and all of a sudden, the entire theater stood up to come over and say hello. And Stacey turned to me and said, 'Oh.'" While it was shocking at first, the actor noted that his wife was quick to adapt. The other conversation occurred just as the date was getting started and involved Weitzman's son from a previous marriage, Jed Weitzman, who was 4 years old at the time. "I picked her up, and her 4-year-old son answered the door and said, 'Fonz.' And I said, 'My name is Henry. Would you like it if I called you Ralph?' And so I'm arguing with a 4-year-old about typecasting," Winkler recalled. Of course, the first date went well and led to years of a happy life together. He and Stacey exchanged vows in 1978, and they went on to have two more children together — daughter Zoe Winkler and son Max Winkler. Henry also developed a close bond with Jed. That bond was strengthened when they found one more thing that they shared in common — dyslexia. 'In third grade, he had to write a report and couldn't do it,' Henry told PEOPLE in 2023. 'I said to him everything that was said to me: 'Go back to your room. You're being lazy. Live up to your potential. You're so verbal.' I then had him tested and we read everything they said. I went, 'Oh my God, Stacey, this is me. I have something with a name.' " He shared more about the diagnosis in his 2023 memoir, Being Henry: The Fonz…and Beyond . 'I didn't find out I was severely dyslexic until I was 31. For all the years before that, I was the kid who couldn't read, couldn't spell, couldn't even begin to do algebra or geometry or even basic arithmetic," he wrote within the book's pages.
