Ayush sector moving towards 200 billion dollar target: Jadhav
New Delhi, Aug 20 (PTI) The Ayush industry is steadily moving towards the 200 billion dollar target aided by a strong network of research councils, statutory bodies and national institutes, Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav said.
He made the remarks at a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Ayush held here on Tuesday.
Jadhav, who chaired the meeting, highlighted that for the first time since the Ministry of Ayush became an independent ministry in 2014, a dedicated Parliamentary Consultative Committee has been established, according to a statement.
He said this important step will help ensure focused discussions, better attention to Ayush-related matters, and stronger policy direction. It will further enhance the ministry's role in promoting a more holistic and globally recognised healthcare system, the statement said.
Highlighting the growth of Ayush, he said, 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister, Ayush has grown rapidly with a strong network of research councils, statutory bodies and national institutes".
'Through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and the National Ayush Mission, health services are reaching millions, while the Ayush industry is steadily moving towards the 200 billion dollar target." Speaking on global outreach and innovation, Jadhav said, 'The International Day of Yoga 2025, held under the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' marked a remarkable milestone with over 3 lakh participants joining in Visakhapatnam this year. 'This powerful display of unity and wellness reflects the growing global embrace of yoga. Alongside, initiatives such as Prakriti Parikshan and moringa-based Ayush diets showcase our commitment to evidence-based research, preventive healthcare, and the promotion of healthy, sustainable lifestyles," he said.
During the meeting, MP Purshottam Rupala suggested that the Ministry of Ayush enhance public awareness through campaigns.
MP Laxmikant Bajpayee noted that Ayurveda played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic and may have helped save many lives, the statement said.
He also recommended the establishment of new Ayush Wellness Centres to further expand access to traditional healthcare.
MP Dr Swami Sachidanand Hari Sakshi said the Committee members have expressed solidarity in the expansion and promotion of AYUSH, the statement said. MP Krishna Prasad stated that a developed India (Viksit Bharat) can become a reality only if AYUSH continues to grow and expand.
He urged efforts to increase the availability of AYUSH services and to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding AYUSH, the statement said.
Highlighting the Korba tribes of Chhattisgarh, MP Jyotsna Charandas Mahant proposed a systematic field engagement to document their traditional healing practices and integrate these insights into AYUSH. PTI PLB DV DV

Celebrating Senior Citizens Day: Tata AIG Extends Legacy of Trust with Tata AIG Elder Care Health Insurance
NewsVoir Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 21: On the occasion of Senior Citizens Day, Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd. reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of India's elderly population by spotlighting its dedicated health protection policy - TATA AIG Elder Care. Designed exclusively for individuals aged 61 years and above, the policy offers holistic coverage that addresses both medical and lifestyle needs, unique to this stage of life. According to a recent report published by the NITI Aayog, report titled "Senior Care Reforms in India - Reimagining the Senior Care Paradigm: A Position Paper", only around one-fifth of the elderly population in India is covered by health insurance, while nearly 78% remain without any pension coverage. This stark reality underscores a widening protection gap for India's ageing population -- where the majority of seniors are entering their most vulnerable years without any safety net of medical or financial security. With longer life expectancy, rising healthcare costs, and the growing prevalence of lifestyle and chronic diseases, this gap poses a dual challenge: increased dependence on family support and heightened risk of financial distress in the face of medical emergencies. Mr. Dinesh Mosamkar, Senior VP of Consumer Underwriting, Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd., said, "Senior Citizens Day is a reminder of the importance of safeguarding the health and dignity of our elders. With Tata AIG Elder Care, we are ensuring that our senior customers get the right mix of healthcare protection, specialized care, and support services. Health insurance is not just about covering hospitalization costs -- it's about enabling a healthier, more confident life in the golden years." Tata AIG Elder Care covers hospitalization and many more benefits like- * Home Physiotherapy Services through network. * Home Nursing Service for post operative care. * Personalized Health Manager for telephonic assistance with booking appointments, scheduling, and service coordination. * Annual Preventive Health Consultation for dental, eye, and orthopedic consultation. * Home care treatment for dialysis, chemotherapy and pandemic care. * AYUSH treatments (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) at certified AYUSH hospitals and centres, making healthcare inclusive of traditional systems. * Compassionate Care to assist the insured person in the 'Activities of Daily Living' post discharge from the hospital. * Home Assessment and Modification for Elderly Care/Disability. Financial and technical support for mobility adjustments at home. * Pre-existing Disease Coverage after 24 months of continuous coverage with us. * Exclusive coverage for high end diagnostic tests on OPD basis, ensuring seniors do not compromise on quality care. With a network of 12,000+ hospitals across India, Tata AIG Elder Care ensures that senior citizens and their families can access seamless, cashless treatment without financial stress. Nidhi Pandya's latest on bringing Ayurveda back to everyday life
For those new to Ayurveda, the prospect can feel intimidating—but Pandya insists it doesn't have to be. In Your Body Already Knows, she distills the concepts of Ayurveda into simple, relatable language that makes the ancient wisdom feel accessible and practical for modern life. Far from restrictive, she sees Ayurveda as profoundly liberating. 'I meet people exactly where they are. I don't ask them to give up their cultural foods or their indulgences—I show them how to enjoy them, what to pair them with, and how to return to balance afterward.' The title of her book underscores her core belief: the answers are already within us. 'We're all born with intuition—just look at a newborn who knows exactly how to feed, or animals who instinctively know how to heal,' she says. 'But somewhere along the way, we lose that connection, buried under conditioning and noise.' That's what sets her approach apart from diet culture. 'As long as the earth rotates and the sun rises and sets, Ayurveda will remain relevant,' she says. 'This isn't another plan to follow—it's a way to return to yourself.'
