G-Dragon's agency blames Bangkok show cancellation on heat wave, fan safety concerns
G-Dragon's agency, Galaxy Corporation, said Friday that the decision to postpone the Bangkok stop of the singer's ongoing world tour was due to Thailand's extreme heat wave and concerns over fan safety. The announcement came a day after the agency initially called off the show without explanation, citing only 'unforeseen circumstances,' prompting backlash from fans.
In a statement, the agency clarified that the 'Ubermensch' world tour performance originally scheduled for Aug. 2 at Rajamangala National Stadium, an outdoor venue in Bangkok, has been postponed rather than canceled.
'We regret to inform you that the Bangkok performance of G-Dragon's 'Ubermensch' tour, originally scheduled for Aug. 2, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances,' Galaxy Corporation said. 'This decision was made in light of the exceptional and record-breaking heat wave affecting the region, which has resulted in numerous heatstroke cases. Given the open-air nature of the stadium, we prioritized the health and safety of our fans.'
'We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please understand that every decision was made with your safety as our top priority. Details about the rescheduled venue and date will be announced as soon as possible, taking into consideration the heat and rainy season,' the company added.
No tickets had yet been sold for the concert, so refund procedures are not necessary at this time.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon's fans have been staging truck protests in Yeouido, Seoul, from Tuesday to Thursday, criticizing Galaxy Corporation for poor management and disorganized handling of the artist's comeback and overseas tour. Among their complaints were short-notice announcements, vague communication and concerns over venue arrangements and tour logistics.

I-dle to drop album, tour in Japan
Girl group I-dle is poised to release a namesake EP in Japan on Oct. 3, Cube Entertainment announced Monday. The upcoming set will be the band's first record released in the country in five years and the first since it changed its name from (G)I-dle. Hit producer behind Netflix animated film's original sound track returns with 'Cha Cha Cha' Vince, a singer-songwriter and producer under The Black Label, is set to unveil a new single titled 'Cha Cha Cha' on Aug. 18, the label announced Saturday. Paralympic Council Malaysia thanks the K-pop icon for inviting eight Malaysian Paralympic athletes to concert G-Dragon showcased a spirit of inclusivity by inviting Paralympic athletes to his world tour show. According to the Paralympic Council of Malaysia on Tuesday, G-Dragon welcomed eight Malaysian Paralympic athletes to his world tour concert held at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur on July 20. The invitation came to light through social media posts by the Paralympic Council of Malaysia. The organization expressed its gratitude via Instagram, writing, 'We sincerely thank the JusPeace Foundation and G-Dragon for giving us an unforgettable experience at the 'Ubermensch' concert held in Kuala Lumpur on July 20.' The JusPeace Foundation is a nonprofit organization established by G-Dragon on Aug. 8, 2024. The foundation conducts anti-drug initiatives and supports marginalized communities, among other activities. The Paralympic Council further stated, 'This warm gesture reminded us once again of the power of sports and music to transform lives. Thank you for recognizing and celebrating our athletes both inside and outside the arena.' The JusPeace Foundation also invited Paralympic athletes to G-Dragon's "Ubermensch" concert at Kyocera Dome Osaka on May 25. Japanese Paralympian Kota Kubota later sent a letter, sharing that G-Dragon's music had helped him give a solid performance at the Paralympic Games. G-Dragon's "Ubermensch" world tour, which kicked off in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, in March, continues across major cities in Asia, Australia, the US and Europe.
