Harvey Willgoose murder accused said he was 'bullied'
The teenager told the court the bullying had affected how he controls his temper and said: "I'm upset all the time."The defendant's barrister, Gul Nawaz Hussain KC, asked him about social media.The boy said he had been bullied online by "strangers" and by pupils at All Saints.The barrister asked him: "When bullying was happening on social media, did you feel you could get away from it?"The boy said no.When Mr Hussain asked him about the worst threat he had received on social media, the defendant replied: "Someone said, 'I'll stab you up'."The defendant said he began to believe the threats and, when his barrister asked "how did that make you feel?", the boy said: "Scared."
The defendant held a fidget toy and was supported by an intermediary as he gave evidence.The jury has previously been shown CCTV footage of Harvey being stabbed in the courtyard at All Saints during the lunch break on 3 February.The court has heard that the defendant has admitted manslaughter but denies murder.He has also admitted possession of a knife on school premises.Addressing the jury last week, Mr Hussain said: "The defendant did not set out to kill or seriously hurt anyone."The defence say the defendant's actions that day were the end result of a long period of bullying, poor treatment and violence, things that built one upon another until he lost control and did tragically what we've all seen."The trial continues.

POLICE are frantically searching for missing mum Rachel Booth miles from where she was last seen - and mystery surrounds her disappearance. Sniffer dogs and underwater search teams have been brought in to assist in scouring the area for the mum-of-three. 12 12 The 38-year-old was last seen at Sandiway Garage in the Northwich area of Cheshire, at 3.50am on Saturday, July 19. Police are today searching the surrounding area of Wild Shore Delamere water sports park in Northwich - which is around two miles away. As concerns grow for her welfare, many questions have cropped up concerning the circumstances in which she vanished. Where is Rachel Booth? Rachel's family reported her missing in the early hours of Saturday. They last saw her in the village of Barton, where they live. The "very active" mum had gone jogging and never returned. An increasingly desperate search is ongoing to track her last movements and find Rachel. 12 12 What was her jogging route? At 3.50am, Rachel was seen wearing black leggings and a black top. CCTV showed Rachel in a Shell petrol station, on the A556. This is nearly seven miles away from her home. Issac Carolan, 19, who works at the garage, told The Sun: "I spoke to my colleague who had served her on Saturday morning. He added: "But it didn't seem weird, she didn't seem disturbed or flustered." What did the neighbour capture her on her doorbell camera? Cops have asked anyone who may have seen the missing mum to get in touch. A family believes they sighted Rachel walking past their house five minutes after she was seen at the Shell garage. A local mum said: "I am fairly sure it's her that walked past my house at 3.55am. I have a video." Why are cops searching a water park so far away? Police were spotted at the Wild Shore Delamere water sports park in Northwich - which is nearly nine miles away from her home. They have deployed sniffer dogs to help with the desperate search. Underwater search teams were recruited to help scour the waters for Rachel. Superintendent Paul Hughes said: 'We are currently following a number of enquiries to trace Rachel and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare." Cops said as part of the investigation, agencies, including the Underwater Search Team and Cheshire Search and Rescue, are carrying out enquiries in the Oakmere and surrounding areas where it is believed Rachel travelled to. 12 12 Superintendent Hughes continued: 'Investigators are following all lines of enquiry and anyone who has seen Rachel since she was reported missing is asked to contact us. "The same goes for anyone who has any information on her whereabouts." The force closed the local holiday attraction as part of their investigation. Wild Shore Delamere, a water-based adventure hub, said: "Due to ongoing police investigations in the surrounding area, Wildshore Delamere will remain closed tomorrow, Sunday, July 20th. "We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. "The incident is unrelated to Wild Shore - however, we wish to help as much as possible - so we will be closing the site until further notice. Mikel Arteta: Arsenal followed correct protocols over Thomas Partey
Mikel Arteta has said that Arsenal '100 per cent' followed the correct procedures regarding Thomas Partey, the midfielder who was charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault this month. Arsenal are facing questions over their decision to play Partey while he was under police investigation after allegations of rape and sexual assault. He was first arrested in July 2022. Partey was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The charges relate to three women and the offences are alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2022. He denies all the allegations. Arsenal have said they will not comment on Partey due to ongoing legal proceedings. Arteta said in May that he was keen to extend the player's contract beyond its expiry at the end of June. Partey was released as a free agent on June 30 and charged four days later. 'The club was very clear in its statement,' Arteta said. 'There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that.' When asked if he was confident and comfortable that the club followed the right processes, Arteta replied: '100 per cent.' Partey is due to appear at Westminster magistrates' Court on August 5. The winger Noni Madueke, who has joined from Chelsea, will begin training after taking a holiday, having played at the Club World Cup. Arteta was keen to have all his signings on board for the tour but the club were unable to conclude a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, the Sweden forward. Sporting Lisbon are continuing to negotiate over the structure of the payment of the £8.6million (€10million) in add-ons in addition to the initial fee of £54.6million (€63million) that was agreed in principle last weekend. 'You know I cannot comment on any player that is not part of our group yet,' Arteta said. 'There's still a long time in the window and we are seeking [to add players]. In terms of numbers, we are short and we have to improve depth and quality. Ideally, you want it [transfers] done on day one in pre-season. We've done very, very well so far. I'm very pleased with the way the club is supporting the necessities and improvements that we required in the team. 'It's like shaking the tree again and bringing [in] new faces. They bring new excitement, a new energy. We signed very important players as well. Again, everybody feels like their height has to go to a different level, and that's what we're seeking.' Gyokeres could still join the squad, who play friendlies against AC Milan on Wednesday and Newcastle United on Sunday, both in Singapore, and Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong a week on Thursday. Arsenal then play two home friendlies before starting their league campaign away to Manchester United.
