Michael Porter Jr opens up on women being his vice and Jontay's being gambling
Michael Porter Jr. released a vlog recently where he spoke about vices. While he confessed that women were his vice, he said that his brother, Jontay, had gambling as his vice. Here is what Porter Jr. said about his brother's addiction to gambling:
'My brother, Jontay, he didn't struggle with that vice (women).
I didn't struggle with gambling addiction. I never struggle with that vice. God gave me a lot of money cuz he figured I could handle it and not lose myself in that area. And maybe Jontay, he was not blessed with tons of money because he struggled with that area of the idolization of money. I have not been blessed with a wife because maybe I am not prepared to handle that because of my struggles.
'
As per Porter Jr., his brother's inability to manage funds pushed him into gambling.
The revelation threw light on various vulnerabilities that the NBA players struggle with.
Jontay Porter received a lifetime ban from the NBA owing to his involvement in high-stakes prop bets. He pleaded guilty to the same and said he did it to come out of gambling debts, as per a report by AP News. In January 2025, CBS Sports released a court document that detailed how Jontay texted a co-conspirator to help bettors gain from prop bets.
