Arrest of 5 Haryana men in Mumbai for ‘attempting to sell' illegal firearms raises fears of Bishnoi gang links
The seizure of sophisticated ammunition and firearms from the accused in a crowded city area has alarmed authorities. Police suspect the men were attempting to sell the weapons illegally and are examining the financial and communication trails to determine if any contract or conspiracy was underway.
Mumbai crime branch is now probing whether the accused were part of a broader plot to target Kapil Sharma or any other high-profile individuals.

On Monday, the anti-extortion cell, acting on a specific tip-off, laid a trap and arrested five persons—Sunny Nareshkumar (26), Ravi Angrez (23), Rahul Prithvi Singh (27), Anuj Kuldeep Kumar (28), and Aditya Yogesh Kaushik (23)—near Cotton Green railway station. Police recovered three country-made pistols, a handmade knife, 44 live cartridges of 7.65mm calibre, seven 8mm cartridges, five mobile phones, and cash from their possession.

All five accused were produced before the 37th Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday and remanded to police custody.
While seeking their custody, police told the court that all the accused have criminal antecedents. Sunny Nareshkumar was arrested in a theft and arms case by Delhi crime branch and Alipur police. Rahul Singh was arrested by Karnal police in Haryana under the Arms Act. Anuj Kumar has records with Delhi, Gurgaon, and Haryana police, and Aditya Kaushik has offences of kidnapping, extortion, and Arms Act with Haryana and Karnal police.
Police have also found some videos on Kaushik's mobile phone of his connection with the Goldie Brar gang.
During the course of interrogations, prima facie, the accused said they had come to sell these weapons, but police are not buying this theory and think otherwise. "They said that one Harish alias Yogesh had given them the assignment to supply these weapons in Mumbai. This could be a ploy to mislead the police. A team is likely to visit Haryana to do the case study of each of the accused," said a police source.
Sources in the crime branch said coordination with central intelligence agencies and Haryana police is ongoing to trace the accused's connections and possible instructions from gang operatives outside the country.
Kapil Sharma, who is currently based in the US, has not publicly commented on the matter. Security around him remains tightened in light of recent developments.

1 2 Mohali: Mohali police have registered a case against the former director of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Punjab, Ashwani Kalia, on charges of tampering with evidence and using caste-based abuse in connection with a corruption case against former Punjab health minister and AAP Mansa MLA Vijay Singla. On Dec 11, 2024, Kalia reportedly split the unit into audio unit-1 and unit-2, assigning pending cases from 2021–23 to Kaur (unit-2) and new 2024 cases to himself (unit-1). She said the controversial case involving three audio parcels was received for examination and was finalised on Aug 8, 2024. Later, Kalia allegedly began demanding the case file while claiming it fell under his jurisdiction. He repeatedly directed junior staff to break open the sealed parcels and re-examine them, despite being told the report had already been submitted. Kaur alleged that Kalia's actions were aimed at altering the findings in a politically sensitive case involving the former minister. Congolese man, who acted in Kannada film as peddler, arrested with drugs in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In a case of reality emulating reel life, a Congolese man who played a drug peddler in a Kannada film was caught with 180 grams of MDMA by a special team of Electronics City police. His associate, a Congolese woman, was also arrested after police seized around 1.8kg of MDMA from her residence. In all, cops seized 2kg of MDMA worth over Rs 5 crore from them. The accused — Joel Kabong, 28, from Hulimavu, and Joy Sunday, 23, of Vidyaranyapura — were selling MDMA in and around Electronics City to students and professionals. Police found photographs in Kabong's mobile clicked during the shooting of Kannada film Bheema, with lead actor Duniya Vijay waging war against the drug mafia.
