Energy Minister lays stone for substation
During his visit to Kandukur constituency on Monday, Minister Ravikumar, along with Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and local MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao, laid the foundation stone for a 33/11 KV electrical substation in Mannetikota of Ulavapadu mandal, being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 4 crore, and inaugurated CC roads and a water head tank at Baddipudi village in the same mandal.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gottipati explained that the substation is being built to address low-voltage issues affecting farmers in the agricultural sector. He emphasised that substations are being constructed based on load requirements to ensure neither farmers nor the general public face difficulties.
He highlighted the PM Suryaghar scheme, which enables households to install solar panels on their rooftops to generate electricity, potentially reducing power problems.
The Minister said that under this scheme, SC/ST communities will receive free connections while BC communities will get subsidised rates. He said that they would provide solar power through the PM KUSUM scheme in areas with substations to benefit farmers.
He revealed that the government has set a target of providing 10,000 Suryaghar connections in each constituency across the state, with approvals already secured for 20 lakh connections with central government support.
The Minister said that while the previous government allegedly spent nothing on road repairs during their five-year term, the coalition government has already allocated Rs 800 crore for road repairs and Rs 600 crore for repairing tar roads.
He added that they have also restarted the Anna Canteens and are providing free gas cylinders as part of the 'Super Six' scheme, with other promises to be fulfilled in phases.
The Minister concluded by stating that the government is encouraging investment in renewable energy projects in the Rayalaseema region, with plans to establish two solar parks in the Darsi and Kanigiri areas soon.

The charge sheet was filed on Wednesday at the special PMLA court. It mentions that Sinha allegedly had a role in a nexus that involved taking money from school jobs aspirants, according to the ED. Following the filing of the charge sheet, Sinha rushed to the CGO Complex office of the agency on Thursday morning to meet officials. Sources close to Sinha said none of the officials met him. The central investigating agency had asked Sinha to appear before it last month. But Sinha evaded the appearance, citing his preoccupation with political matters. Sinha's name surfaced in the case after both Kuntal Ghosh and Tapas Mandal spoke about him. Ghosh and Mandal, two allegedly key persons in the nexus are said to have mentioned Sinha's name in their statements. However, he could not justify the source of the whole sum of money. Two of his mobile phones were seized by officials. Later, when they summoned Sinha to the agency's CGO Complex office in Salt Lake, he failed to appear before them. He, instead, sent his lawyer. ED officials alleged they had found certain discrepancies in his statements and needed clarification. Sources close to Sinha said that he is looking at legal options after the agency filed the charge sheet. Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, "A charge sheet is not gospel truth. ED charge sheets very often falter in courts. On the specific case, the minister and his legal advisors are in a better position to respond to what ED says." Centre okays T to reschedule Rs 25k cr high interest loans
Hyderabad: In a significant financial relief for Telangana, the Centre has reportedly agreed to restructure high interest loans taken by the state over the past decade. Sources said the Reserve Bank of India has approved the repayment of nearly Rs 25,000 crore in fresh borrowings over the next two years — at lower interest rates and with longer repayment periods. The move is expected to save Telangana around Rs 2,000 crore annually, compared to the burden under previous terms. On Aug 5, the RBI disbursed Rs 5,000 crore, which the state govt immediately used to clear old, high interest loans availed from the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC). You Can Also Check: Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad The state had long raised concerns over loans contracted at steep interest rates from private financial entities, often routed through various government-owned corporations. These borrowings, scheduled for repayment over 10 years, placed a heavy fiscal load on the state exchequer due to their high servicing costs. In contrast, RBI loans come with lower interest rates (7% to 7.5%) and longer tenures of 25 to 30 years, offering significant relief. By comparison, loans from the REC carried an 11% interest rate and a 10-year repayment term, which became increasingly unsustainable. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy had repeatedly urged the Centre to allow rescheduling of such liabilities. Following a detailed review of Telangana's fiscal health, the Union finance ministry agreed to the proposal. In a parallel development, the Centre had earlier brought all off-budget borrowings under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) framework, which reduced Telangana's eligibility to raise funds from the RBI during 2020–21. After these corporate loans were clubbed under FRBM, the state govt intensified its push for rescheduling, which was now accepted by the Centre. The state has raised funds through monthly bond issuances. With the RBI's green light, it can now rework the Rs 25,000 crore loan burden over two years. Funds raised from bond issues, such as the Rs 5,000 crore obtained recently, will be used solely to retire high-interest loans, not for new programmes or expenditure. Financial analysts said this restructuring will ease fiscal pressure and save nearly Rs 2,000 crore per year, giving the state room to stabilise its economy.
