5,000 people participate in yoga event at Gandikota
The event was organised by the Department of Tourism and named 'Paryataka Yogandhra'. Jammalamadugu MLA and Government Whip C. Adinarayana Reddy took part in the event along with Collector Sridhar Cherukuri.
'The ancient yogic practice has been known to rejuvenate the senses and keep ailments at bay. This is the lesson we have to learn, promote and practice in the forthcoming days,' Mr. Adinarayana Reddy said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sridhar said that the government was keen to promote the concept of 'Happy Andhra Pradesh - Healthy Andhra Pradesh' by encouraging the citizens to take up yoga and meditation. At the district and mandal level, we have trained 5.70 lakh people in yoga through 6,000 trainers, and have enrolled 9 lakh persons, including workers, farmers and students, to participate in Yogandhra event, he added.

Pet owners have to hurry up as there are as many as 17,000 doses of anti-rabies vaccines ready to be administered to pet dogs in Kadapa district. Launching an anti-rabies vaccination drive on the occasion of 'World Zoonosis Day' at the veterinary polyclinic in Kadapa on Sunday (July 6, 2025), district Collector Sridhar Cherukuri called upon pet owners to make use of the facility. He also gave a clarion call to the animal activists to help spread the message so that the doses are put to productive use during the free vaccination drive period. Anti-rabies vaccine alone is not enough when children suffer deep stray dog bites, says Tamil Nadu Directorate of Public Health Recalling the origin of the day when the first vaccine was administered on July 6, 1885 by Louis Pasteur to a boy bitten by a rabid dog, he called upon pet owners to make out a point to get their family members vaccinated, in view of their closeness with pet animals, and as such, a higher risk of virus spread through potential bites. Mr. Sridhar also called upon veterinarians, who also stay in the midst of animals, to make it mandatory to get vaccinated periodically to steer clear of risks. Marking the 'Fodder week' observed from July 7 to 14, the Collector formally released a poster brought out by the Department of Animal Husbandry.

Mass yoga events mark International Yoga Day in Tenali and Vijayawada; officials highlight health benefits
GUNTUR: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nandendla Manohar took part in a large-scale Yoga event organised in Tenali on Saturday to mark International Yoga Day, under the State government's 'Yogandhra' initiative. The programme was organised by Tenali Municipality and witnessed enthusiastic participation from all sections of society. The Minister actively performed various Yoga asanas alongside trained instructors and participants, motivating citizens by joining them in their practice. Hundreds of residents, including government employees and youth, gathered at the venue from as early as 6:30 am to participate in the hour-long session. Addressing the gathering, Minister Manohar emphasised that Yoga offers a sustainable path to healthy living without reliance on medicines, noting that it forms an integral part of India's cultural heritage, contributing to both physical and mental well-being. Grand Yoga Day fete at IGMC stadium in Vijayawada The District-level International Yoga Day celebrations were held with great enthusiasm at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada on Saturday. Chief Commissioner of Land Administration G Jaya Lakshmi, Collector G Lakshmisha, Commissioner of Police Rajasekhar Babu, Joint Collector S Ilakkiya, former Minister Pithala Sujatha, APNGOs State President A Vidya Sagar, and DCP Saritha joined thousands of participants and trainers in performing Yoga asanas. Collector Lakshmisha announced that around 8.5 lakh people participated in Yoga sessions across the district and urged citizens to adopt Yoga for managing diabetes, hypertension, and stress. Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu praised the district's efforts and noted their achievement in setting a world record with floating Yoga.

Hindupur: 'Focuson your breath and practice yoga daily to attain complete health,' urged Sri Sathya Sai District Collector TS Chetan, speaking at the Yogandhra programme held at MGM Grounds in Hindupur as part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations. The event saw participation from SP Ratna, Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar, yoga gurus, and numerous public representatives and citizens. Addressing the gathering, he said that International Yoga Day, celebrated globally on June 21, is a source of pride for both India and the world. He described yoga not just as a symbol of Indian heritage but as a pathway to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. He encouraged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily routine, highlighting that even 30 minutes of daily yoga at home could enhance physical health and mental peace. He praised the youth and the public for their enthusiastic participation and noted that such interest would spread awareness about health and well-being. 'A society that practices yoga every day will be a healthy society,' he remarked. The State Government has been actively promoting yoga awareness through the month-long Yogandhra Mahotsavam, conducted from May 21 to June 21, across Dharmavaram, Kadiri, Penukonda, Lepakshi,and other locations with theme-based yoga sessions. These were organised in collaboration with the AYUSH and Health Departments, reaching from district-level centers to rural areas. He thanked everyone involved in making the month-long celebrations a grand success. As part of the International Yoga Day celebrations, certificates and mementos were awarded to district and state-level winners of yoga competitions by the Collector. Dignitaries and participants also took part in the Swachh Andhra – Swarna Andhra initiative by planting saplings. The event witnessed large participation from local leaders and officials, including Puttaparthi MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy, former Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Municipal Chairman Ramesh, Penukonda RDO Anand Kumar, DMHO Fairoza Begum, Municipal Commissioner Mallikharjuna, TDP District President Vadde Anjanappa, as well as students, yoga instructors, and the general public.
