Odyssey AI1 'zero-torque' putters
Odyssey's AI1 square-to-square putters are designed to have zero-torque, meaning they stay square to your stroke.
Golfweek
Odyssey's new Ai-One Square 2 Square Max 1 and Max 1 Stripe putters offer extreme stability and forgiveness.
Designed with zero-torque balance and high MOI, these putters resist face rotation for improved consistency.
The AI-designed insert normalizes ball speed across the face for better distance control.
Gear: Odyssey Ai-One Square 2 Square Max 1 and Max 1 Stripe putters
Price: $399.99Specs: High-MOI center-shafted mallets with AI-designed urethane insert, forward press shaft lean and toe-up, zero-torque balance.Who it's for: Golfers who struggle with face rotation and consistency during the stroke and want more stability, easier alignment and dependable roll across the face. What you should know: Odyssey's most stable zero-torque putters to date, the Max 1 models pair extreme MOI with AI-designed inserts and multiple alignment aids in a center-shafted design meant to help keep the face square throughout the stroke.
The Deep Dive: The center-shafted, zero-torque putter category is having a moment — on tour and in pro shops. Despite some unconventional shapes and, in some cases, premium pricing, more players are giving these putters a try. And for many, the results have led to long-term switches.
Odyssey introduced its Square 2 Square line in early 2024 as a fresh take on face stability and rotation control. Now, with the launch of the Ai-One Square 2 Square Max 1 and Max 1 Stripe, the company is doubling down — adding new options to the lineup and emphasizing forgiveness and consistency.
When they balance freely, the toe of both the Ai-One Square 2 Square Max 1 and the Max 1 Stripe goes up, and heads balance in a way that encourages the faces to resist rotation. Instead of naturally opening or closing, they want to stay square to the stroke's path from takeaway to follow-through. The elimination or severe decrease in face rotation is what makes zero-torque putters so intriguing for so many golfers. It helps players get the putter face pointed at their established target line at impact more often, and that leads to improved consistency and more holed putts.
These are also Odyssey's most stable zero-torque designs yet. Each model boasts a moment of inertia above 6,300 g-cm², meaning off-center hits should twist less and stay more on line. If you tend to miss toward the toe or heel, the Max 1 and Max 1 Stripe are built to give you a fighting chance at staying on target.
Inside the head, Odyssey is using its AI-One insert, which pairs the familiar White Hot urethane feel with a backer plate designed using artificial intelligence. The insert has variable thickness zones to help normalize speed across the face, making it easier to control distance even when contact isn't perfect. According to Callaway's research, that means fewer three-putts and better feel from a wider area of the face.
Both putters feature a built-in 3.3 degrees of shaft lean to promote a natural forward press, and each is finished in a navy blue PVD for a clean, modern look. The standard Max 1 model has a single white alignment line running through the center of the crown, while the Max 1 Stripe uses a bold, high-contrast design. A golf ball–width white stripe spans the top of the putter, split by a black center line to help with precise aiming.

Google Bets on Nuclear to Power AI Data Centers by 2030
Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is turning to nuclear power to keep its AI-fueled future running. On Monday, the company said it's building its first small modular reactor (SMR) in Tennessee, with energy expected to start flowing by 2030. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with VWDRY. The deal could deliver about 500 megawatts of capacity for Google's data centers in Tennessee and Alabama, using Kairos Power's advanced reactor technology in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). TVA CEO Don Moul framed the project as bigger than just Google's energy needs. Nuclear is the bedrock of the future of energy security, he said, adding that Google's investment helps shoulder the cost and risk of developing new nuclear tech without passing the burden to TVA's 10 million customers. It's the latest sign of how energy-intensive AI has become. Back in October, Google signed deals to source power from multiple SMRs. This Tennessee project shows the company is willing to bet on first-of-its-kind nuclear solutions to keep its data centers and AI ambitions running on clean, steady power.
