3 arrested in Decatur for stealing car

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department said it arrested three people for stealing a car on April 2.
According to DPD, officers responded to a workshop on Stanley Street SE for a report of a burglary and a stolen vehicle.

When officers arrived, they contacted both victims and determined the shop had been burglarized and items had been stolen. Officers also confirmed that a 2006 gray Lexus ES330 had been stolen from the property.
On April 9, property crimes detectives found leads that led to the execution of a search warrant at a home in the 1000 block of Danville Road. During the search warrant, detectives found the stolen car and multiple items stolen from the shop.
DPD said Natasha Broomfield and Anthony Moon Jr. were on the scene during the search warrant. As the investigation continued, Broomfield and Moon were charged with first-degree receiving stolen property.
They were taken to the Morgan County Jail where they were each booked and held on a $5,000 bond.
Further investigation led detectives to identify Christopher John Ingram as a suspect in the burglary and theft of the Lexus. Warrants for third-degree burglary and first-degree theft were obtained for Ingram's arrest.
On April 10, DPD found Ingram during a traffic stop. He was taken into custody for his warrants and taken to the Morgan County Jail where he was booked and held on a $10,000 bond.

The Toyota crossed over the double-yellow lines and crashed into the Lexus in a head-on collision, CHP said. The driver of the Toyota was a man who was pronounced dead at a Napa hospital at 5:36 p.m. on Friday. The driver of the Lexus was a mother with her two children, a 15-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter. According to CHP, only one child was wearing a seatbelt. The mother was transported to a Napa hospital for major injuries. The children were transported by helicopters to the Oakland Children's Hospital for major injuries. What we know In each incident, the offender broke the passenger or driver side windows and, in several cases, took personal property from inside the cars. The offender was also reported to have been seen fleeing in a gray Lexus sedan with an Ontario, Canada, license plate, police said. The offender was described by police as an African American male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and a black/gray Nike Jordan gym shoes. Man accused of shooting, killing family member in altercation, police say

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Limestone County Sheriff's Office said a man is accused of shooting and killing a family member Friday. LCSO said around 7 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting incident in the 17000 block of Kelley Drive in Athens. Upon arrival, LCSO said deputies found the body of Todd Robert Jennett, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Also at the scene was Michael Stephen Esposito, 63, of Athens, Alabama. After securing the scene, investigators began a thorough investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Jennett and Esposito, his stepfather, had been involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the dispute, Esposito reportedly produced a firearm and shot Jennett multiple times. Michael Esposito was taken into custody at the scene without incident and was transported to the Limestone County Jail.
