How KADesigns Blends Aesthetics & Function Across the Middle East
At the heart of Egypt's evolving urban fabric, a number of landmark projects share one thing in common: KADesigns. From Emaar Misr's Mivida to the dynamic District 5 by Marakez and the coastal elegance of Orascom's Abu Tig Hill, the firm's signature lies in its holistic coordination and deeply considered user experiences. These aren't just large-scale developments - they're living, functional ecosystems shaped by a design team that prioritises seamless collaboration across disciplines.
Founded by architect Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Kader in 2002, KADesigns has grown from a focused architectural studio into a multidisciplinary design consultancy firm with services that span architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape, MEP, site supervision, and more.
'After my Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, I returned to an Egypt that was transforming,' Dr. Abdel-Kader tells SceneHome. 'New developers, large-scale ambitions - there was a gap for quality-driven designs that truly serve the user.'
This realisation became the cornerstone of KADesigns' philosophy. Today, their portfolio spans a diverse range of projects, from residential compounds and resorts to commercial hubs and educational institutions across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the broader Middle East.
Over the past two decades, KADesigns has built enduring relationships with the region's most prominent developers—names like Hassan Allam, Madinet Masr, and Al Rajhi Saudi Group. Their continued trust in the firm is a direct result of KADesigns' ability to consistently deliver comprehensive, well-coordinated designs that translate vision into value. In a real estate climate where time and cost overruns can derail entire projects, this level of reliability has proven invaluable, streamlining construction phases and enhancing profitability for clients.
That level of consistency stems from the team itself. At the heart of KADesigns is a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and specialists who approach each project as an integrated ecosystem.
'Our team is the first player we should thank for the firm's growth, both in Egypt and regionally,' says Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Kader. This tightly coordinated structure enables the firm to design not only for aesthetics and functionality, but also for the lived experience of end users—ensuring that what is promised on paper fully materializes in real life. 'We don't see coordination as a constraint,' Dr. Abdel-Kader emphasises. 'We see it as an opportunity for deeper integration between form and function.'
At the heart of KADesigns' success is their commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration. By housing architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape, MEP engineering, and project management under one roof, the firm ensures a cohesive vision from concept to completion.
'A project isn't successful just because it looks good in renderings,' notes Dr. Abdel-Kader. 'It has to deliver on that promise when someone lives, works, or visits that space. Our job is to make that transition invisible.'
This user-centric approach is evident in their meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every design element serves a purpose and enhances the overall experience. 'Our clients know that when we design something, it's not just aesthetic—it's coordinated, cost-efficient, and executable,' Dr. Abdel-Kader states.
Embracing technology, KADesigns integrates advanced drafting systems and AI-powered tools into their workflow, enhancing both creativity and precision. 'We're always looking to improve our process without losing the human side of design,' he adds.
Beyond their technical expertise, KADesigns places immense value on client relationships management. Their collaborations with their clients often extend beyond a single project, evolving into long-term partnerships built on trust and mutual respect.
'Design is about trust,' Dr. Abdel-Kader reflects. 'When a client gives you their vision, when a family buys into that dream, or a visitor walks into your space—you have to honour that trust.'
As KADesigns continues to grow its presence across the Middle East, its work reflects more than technical execution or aesthetic decisions. At its core, the firm's approach suggests a mission: to design spaces that endure beyond handovers, serving not only the visions of developers but the everyday needs of the end users.

Egypt, Turkey discuss Gaza, Libya, aim to boost trade to $15bn
The foreign ministers of Egypt and Turkey on Saturday discussed the 'humanitarian catastrophe' in Gaza and other regional crises, and agreed to work on boosting bilateral trade to $15bn, Egypt's foreign ministry said. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty hosted his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in the coastal city of Alamein for a bilateral meeting followed by an expanded session of talks. The two ministers expressed a shared desire to enhance cooperation in all fields, especially as this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the ministry said in a statement. Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, held in Istanbul in September 2024, to launch a new phase of cooperation. He said Egypt looks forward to increasing direct Turkish investments and intensifying cooperation in production, manufacturing, energy, transport, and tourism. The talks also covered regional and international issues, with a focus on the situation in the Palestinian territories. The ministers condemned the 'Israeli cabinet's decision to occupy the entire Gaza Strip' and affirmed the need to counter what they called 'Israel's arrogance of power, which undermines security and stability in the region.' Abdelatty warned that Israel's policy of 'systematic starvation and genocide' fuels conflict and extremism. He reviewed Egypt's efforts, in partnership with Qatar and the United States, to reach a ceasefire agreement and deliver humanitarian aid to the strip. The discussions also covered developments in Libya, with Abdelatty emphasizing the need to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, dismantle militias, and ensure the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries. On Sudan, the ministers discussed the importance of reaching a ceasefire and allowing aid access. Abdel-Aty reiterated Egypt's support for Sudan's state institutions and respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Regarding Syria, the Egyptian minister rejected any moves that would affect the security and stability of the Syrian people and condemned Israeli violations and its occupation of Syrian lands. The talks also touched on the situation in the Horn of Africa, with Abdelatty stressing the need to respect Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. During the meeting, the Egyptian foreign minister also expressed his appreciation for Turkey's support for the Egyptian candidate, Khaled El-Enany, for the post of Director-General of UNESCO.

Egypt, Turkey affirm rejection of Israeli plan to reoccupy Gaza - Foreign Affairs
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Turkey's foreign minister, Hakan Fidan, reaffirmed Cairo and Ankara's rejection of Israel's plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip during talks in Cairo on Saturday. Egyptian presidency spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the two sides called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza war, the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid to the strip, an exchange of captives and prisoners, and rejection of any displacement of Palestinians from their land. On Friday, Egypt and Turkey issued statements rejecting the Israeli cabinet's decision to expand its 22-month-long genocidal war on Gaza, seize full control of Gaza City and reoccupy the strip. Earlier this week, the Egyptian president said the war on Gaza was no longer about hostages or political aims, but 'a war of starvation, genocide, and an attempt to eliminate the Palestinian cause.' The meeting, which was attended by Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, also covered the situations in Libya, Syria, and Sudan, with El-Sisi outlining Egypt's vision for peace and stability. Both sides stressed respect for sovereignty, the preservation of territorial integrity and the protection of national resources. El-Sisi praised progress in Egyptian-Turkish ties since a February 2024 agreement to upgrade the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meetings to head-of-state level. The two governments agreed to boost economic cooperation towards their goal of $15 billion in bilateral trade, set by El-Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during talks in Ankara last September. El-Sisi stresses Arab unity, warns against external interference - Foreign Affairs
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi underscored on Wednesday the strength of Egypt's relations with Arab states and the necessity of overcoming disagreements to preserve Arab unity, affirming that any external interference aims to destabilise Arab states. El-Sisi's remarks came during an inspection visit to the Egyptian Military Academy at the State's Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. According to the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi emphasised that Arab security is an integrated whole to which Egypt is closely linked, noting that the Arab region has been experiencing exceptional circumstances since 2011, not just since October 2023. He added that ensuing events have proven the soundness of Egyptian policies based on balance, non-interference, respect for state sovereignty, and developmental efforts, El-Sisi said, warning against attempts by media outlets to sow discord among Arab peoples amid regional threats. Regarding the situation in Gaza, the president noted that Egypt has made immense efforts since 2007 to avoid escalation and stressed that the Palestinian people in the Strip would pay the price in any confrontation. El-Sisi affirmed that the current destruction in Gaza is unprecedented and that the Egyptian state continues efforts to stop the war and deliver humanitarian aid. He also highlighted Egypt's efforts to secure the release of captives and detainees, despite the distortion and misinformation campaigns that target the state's pivotal role. Furthermore, the president pointed out that the geopolitical circumstances, including the war in Gaza, have negatively impacted Suez Canal revenues, which declined by $7 billion. However, he added, the path of economic reform is ongoing and witnessing significant progress, as affirmed by international organisations. El-Sisi emphasised that when state institutions operate efficiently, with knowledge and expertise, economic achievements will be realised and development goals will be met. He also highlighted the importance of scientific progress and technological advances, including social media platforms, which he described as not inherently bad but whose impact depends on how these advances are employed. In contrast, El-Sisi indicated that if used correctly, social media platforms can be a helpful tool. Still, he maintained that as things stand, social media has been used to sow discord, spread rumours, and undermine morale among Egyptians, who he described as facing challenges with increasing awareness. Domestically, Egypt, the president continued, is stable thanks to the state's policy of transparency and credibility, which has proven effective over the past decade. Moreover, El-Sisi noted that though Egypt has faced significant security challenges for over a decade, the state has successfully overcome them and continues to make tangible progress despite the difficult regional situation. During the visit, he expressed his profound appreciation for the Academy's leadership, faculty, and students. The president also noted that the Academy is not merely an institution for building character, but also prepares men and women for facing the challenges that beset various state institutions in the modern world. In addition, El-Sisi commended the courses the Academy offers to civilian cadres, stressing the importance of its training and educational programmes in multiple disciplines.
