On the Korean side, more than 60 representatives from various companies joined the event in person and online.
Ambassador Kim Yonghyon highlighted the significance of this year, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Egypt.
He noted that over the past three decades, the two countries have developed robust economic ties in trade, investment, and infrastructure project, with manufacturing playing a central role in the bilateral partnership.
Ambassador Kim emphasized that combining Egypt's potential as a regional manufacturing hub with Korea's technological and industrial competitiveness could lead to a mutually beneficial cooperation model.
He also noted that Korean companies currently operating in Egypt are actively contributing to the local manufacturing ecosystem through collaboration with Egyptian firms. Furthermore, major Egyptian corporations are building partnership models with Korean SMEs, producing tangible results in industrial cooperation.
He expressed hope that the seminar, which focused on promising sectors such as automotive, electronics, power equipment, healthcare, and defense industries, would lead to expanded mutual benefits and sustainable growth in the manufacturing sectors of both countries.
As a follow-up to the seminar, KOTRA will organize a two-week online business matchmaking event from May 15 to 29, enabling one-on-one consultations between Korean and Egyptian companies to explore concrete opportunities for cooperation in manufacturing.

Gaza's Cry Against Global Silence
Cairo – Ehab Abdullah In the heart of the Middle East, where civilizations meet and generations pass, lies a small piece of land called Gaza . A land that, to this very moment, witnesses ongoing chapters of tragedy and genocide under the world's watchful silence. It is an asymmetric conflict that spares neither child, elder, nor woman. Gaza has become a dark oil painting—painted with the blood of martyrs, decorated with the dust of demolished homes, amputated bodies, and the cries of grieving mothers. Gaza bleeds from a deep wound and screams against a disturbing global silence. Chapter One: Numbers That Don't Lie Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has faced unprecedented Israeli aggression. The figures tell a chilling story of systematic extermination: more than 60,000 martyrs, including at least 20,000 children and 10,000 women. The percentage of children killed in Gaza in just three months surpasses the number of children killed in all conflicts worldwide over the past four years. Beyond lives lost, nearly 80% of residential buildings have been destroyed, most hospitals are out of service, and essential infrastructure—water, electricity, communications—lies in ruins, rendering life in Gaza nearly impossible. Chapter Two: A Painful Comparison Compared to previous wars, Gaza's suffering is unparalleled. During the Bosnian war, which lasted three years, about 100,000 people were killed, including 8,000 in the Srebrenica massacre. Yet in Gaza, over 30,000 people were killed in just five months. The indiscriminate bombing of Gaza exceeds in brutality any air campaign witnessed since World War II, with tons of explosives dropped on densely populated areas, wiping out entire neighborhoods. Chapter Three: Human Suffering Beyond Description Every corner of Gaza tells a story of pain. Thousands of orphans, displaced families stripped of everything, cancer patients dying due to lack of treatment, and the wounded left without medicine. Schools and mosques became shelters, but they too were targeted. Gaza today is a prison in the open air, enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises of modern history. Chapter Four: The Silence of the World Perhaps the greatest tragedy is the world's silence. International conventions, such as the Geneva Conventions designed to protect civilians, are blatantly violated in Gaza, yet the world watches passively, as if witnessing a scene from a distant film. Conclusion: Gaza Between Pain and Hope Gaza is not just a geographical location—it is a symbol of resilience under siege. It is a cry against silence, and a call for every conscience to rise against injustice. Gaza is the fire that refuses to be extinguished until the Palestinian people gain their freedom and dignity. History will not erase this dark page of injustice, nor will the world forget Gaza's sacrifices. تم نسخ الرابط

Overhauled floating hotel Eugenie relaunched in Aswan - Urban & Transport
The Port Said Engineering Works and Shipbuilding Company, a subsidiary of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), announced the relaunch on Wednesday of the floating hotel Eugénie in Aswan after completing extensive maintenance and repairs. The ceremony was attended by the ambassadors of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, alongside senior local officials and security leaders from the governorate. The 72-metre-long, 13-metre-wide vessel, weighing 1,600 tons, underwent a comprehensive overhaul that included the replacement of 30 tons of damaged steel and extensive repairs supervised by the Polish Classification Society. Further works—including electrical and mechanical upgrades, insulation of the engine room, servicing of deck equipment, and repainting of the superstructure—will continue after the vessel's return to the water. In a speech delivered on his behalf, SCA Chairman Admiral Osama Rabie highlighted the authority's progress in upgrading its shipyards and subsidiaries as part of a broader strategy to maximise asset utilisation, diversify revenue streams, and reinforce the SCA's developmental and service roles in line with presidential directives. He noted that the modernisation drive is creating new opportunities to localise marine industries and to position Egypt as a regional hub for vessel maintenance in Africa and the Middle East. In a recorded address, Aswan Governor Major General Dr Ismail Kamal praised the SCA's contribution to development and tourism. He described the expansion of the company's facilities in Aswan as a significant boost for Nile tourism ahead of the upcoming season, in line with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's directives to promote river tourism. Company Chairman Eng Yasser Nour El-Din said the new expansions represent an essential step in strengthening the company's regional standing. He noted that hotel vessel lifting and launching operations in Aswan are carried out using advanced airbag technology, supervised by Alexandria University's Faculty of Engineering and approved by the River Transport Authority. Mustafa El-Gendy, owner of the Eugénie and Honorary Vice-President of the Pan-African Parliament, thanked the SCA and the company for completing the project on schedule. He also announced plans to begin maintenance on another floating hotel, Kasr Ibrim, and expressed hope for broader cooperation to promote Egyptian shipbuilding and repair services across Africa. This expansion marks the company's first operations behind the High Dam, with its new site on Lake Nasser dedicated to servicing floating hotels and tourist vessels operating between Abu Simbel and Aswan—routes unable to cross the dam.
