Manchester United fans' group postpones protest against owners
The 1958 has overseen numerous demonstrations in recent years, principally aimed at unpopular majority shareholders the Glazers, but frustration has now spread to Ratcliffe.
🗣️Postponement of Protest – Arsenal (H), August 17th
After careful reflection, and in light of the survey results. We have made the decision to postpone the planned protest for the Arsenal home game on Saturday, August 17th.

The billionaire British businessman, who owns a 28.94 per cent stake in United, has instigated wide – often unpopular – changes since taking over day-to-day operational control from the Glazers in February 2024.
'Jim Ratcliffe chose to get into bed with the Glazers and, in our opinion, is helping keep them in charge,' said a group representative, who added Ratcliffe was 'no saviour' and 'like a (red) devil in disguise,' last week.
However, after conducting a survey, the group has acknowledged opinion is split and the time is not right for a protest.
A statement read: 'With a fanbase as diverse and passionate as ours, finding the right balance isn't always easy. We've had to consider momentum, timing, fan appetite, broader consequences of protest activity whilst assessing how current and future decisions may impact us as fans.
'Given the current sentiment within the fanbase and particularly in light of these recent survey results, it's clear there is no unified view on the direction of the club under Ratcliffe.
'That split is real, and we believe it would be irresponsible to risk creating a situation that could result in any 'red on red' conflict inside or outside the stadium.'
The group say almost 63 per cent of the near 26,000 respondents to their survey said Ratcliffe and his Ineos company should be held to account for their decisions so far by means of a protest. However, 68 per cent also believed they should be given more time.

Daniel Dubois vs Oleksandr Usyk final drug test results released
Oleksandr Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round last month to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion for a second time Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois have both turned in NEGATIVE doping tests following their heavyweight sequel last month. The pair went head-to-head at Wembley Stadium, two months on from their initial encounter. It was the Ukrainian who emerged victorious in 2023 after stopping 'Triple D' in the ninth round - despite the fight being marred by drama. Dubois sent his foe crashing to the canvas in the fifth round, but the shot was eventually deemed low. Two years on, Usyk was eager to silence his doubters once and for all. The 38-year-old would go on to put on a more dominant display, dropping Dubois in the fifth round before delivering a knockout blow just seconds later to become the undisputed heavyweight champion for a second time in his remarkable career. As is the case with any fight, both fighters were subject to doping tests after the contest in London. The WBC have today revealed that the results from the pair have come back negative. The WBC wrote on its official website: "The Clean Boxing Program has announced that all doping tests for both fighters have come back negative. "The second fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois ended in a stunning fashion at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The Ukrainian champion delivered a powerful knockout against the British fighter in front of his home crowd, allowing Usyk to retain the heavyweight belts and reclaim the title that Dubois had held. "VADA, the independent agency that conducts the anti-doping tests for the Clean Boxing Program, reported the conclusion of the process, solidifying the victory and legacy of the undisputed Ukrainian champion. The 'Clean Boxing Program' was implemented in 2016 to conduct doping tests in the WBC. The WBC has an agreement with VADA, the association responsible for sample collection, chain of custody, and laboratory analysis." Since moving up to heavyweight, the Ukrainian has beaten Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Dubois on two separate occasions. While several stars within the boxing world have called for Usyk to take on Joseph Parker next, the Ukrainian's long-time friend Alexander Krassyuk believes his good friend should call it a day. 'I don't see him fighting anymore, at least in boxing," he told World Boxing News. "He has proved it all; there's nothing more to gain. For sure, there're going to be some dossers around pushing him to the ring again. As a friend, I will do my best to convince him to retire.' Fans were left stunned a few weeks before the heavyweight rematch after Usyk and Krassyuk decided to part ways. The heavyweight king turned over as a professional with Krassyuk's K2 Promotions in 2013 after winning gold at the London Olympics. When asked why the decision was made to part ways with Usyk during the training camp, Krassyuk explained to World Boxing News: 'I felt the momentum. That was the right time to go. I wished Usyk to become the triple undisputed and told that I would stay the lifetime promoter of the two-time undisputed.' When is Oleksandr Usyk's next fight? It appears Usyk will take a well-deserved break for the remainder of the year to relax and enjoy precious moments with his family before considering his next move in the squared circle. Following his victory over Dubois, the Ukrainian champion reflected on his age, declaring: "38 is a young guy, remember! 38 is only the start! "I want to say thank you to Jesus Christ. I want to say thank you to my team and Wembley, thank you so much! It's for the people. Nothing is next. It's enough, next, I don't know. I want to rest. My family, my wife, my children, I want to rest now. Two or three months, I want to just rest." He continued: "Maybe it's Tyson Fury," Usyk added. "Maybe we have three choices, Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. Listen, I cannot now say because I want to go back home."

Liz Truss slams beloved UK event claiming it was made by people who 'hate Britain'
She managed to take a swipe at the NHS, Isembard Kingdom Brunel, Shakespeare, Peter Pan, Jerusalem, Mary Poppins, Elgar, Pink Floyd, The Clash, James Bond and the Queen all in one sentence Liz Truss has slammed the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, claiming it was made by people who "hate Britain." The former Prime Minister, who was ousted after 49 days, claimed the performance, watched and beloved by millions, was out of touch with the views of Brits. She'd been asked by hard right podcaster Ben Shapiro whether she agreed with the NHS being such a focus of the celebration of the best of British. And she managed to take a swipe at the NHS, Isembard Kingdom Brunel, Shakespeare, Peter Pan, Jerusalem, Mary Poppins, Elgar, Pink Floyd, The Clash, James Bond and the Queen all in one sentence. "The views expressed in the Olympic ceremony are not those of the average Briton," Ms Truss replied. She added: "The problem is we have an elite that hates Britain, and they have done for some time. And that is the history of Jeremy Corbyn, Keir Starmer. They want to help the human rights of anybody who doesn't live in Britain but they're very reticent to defend our own interests." In 2013, Ms Truss said praised the ceremony for having "seamlessly combined Isambard Kingdom Brunel and William Shakespeare, Tim Berners-Lee and Mary Poppins." And in 2019 she called for the "spirit of the 2012 Olympics - a modern, patriotic, enterprising vision of Britain" to be revived. Ms Truss has been eager to build a profile in the US in recent years - appearing at a number of conferences and giving interviews to a string of pro-Trump outlets. In 2024, she failed to challenge host Steve Bannon, formerly a Trump advisor, on his claim that Tommy Robinson is a "hero". A year later, she again appeared on Bannon's podcast, just hours after he'd been accused of giving a nazi salute at a MAGA rally. At the same conference, she sat down for an interview with the Epoch Times, a far-right media organisation affiliated with the Falun Gong religious movement. Ben Shapiro, a prominent conservative commentator, has made a string of controversial statements, including claiming transgender people have a "mental illness".

Police swarm luxury estate with JD Vance reportedly making trip to Scotland
The US Vice President is said to be coming to Scotland on holiday with his family, having spent time in the Cotswolds already these last few days. Police officers were seen swarming a luxury country mansion today - ahead of a reported holiday by US Vice President JD Vance and his family. Donald Trump's deputy is in the UK with loved ones for their summer break and are said to be heading north of the border to the Carnell Estates in Crossroads, East Ayrshire. The "historic and luxurious" estate - which costs over £3,000 per night and has a 9.8 out of 10 rating on - is known for its private hospitality. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and family stayed at the retreat in 2011, when they were in Scotland as the Fight Club star was filming World War Z in Glasgow. The Hollywood A-listers - who have since separated - stayed in the 16th century manor at Carnell, commuting to and from the estate and Glasgow by train. It's understood JD Vance and family will arrive at Prestwick Airport on Wednesday, August 13, having spent time in the Cotswolds during their trip to the UK. The Carnell Estates, which are owned by Michael Findlay and are run by him and his partner Adrienne Eastwood, have been in his family's hands since the 1300s. Described as "very much as a private house rather than an hotel", the 14th century tower and "historic and luxurious" mansion house is often used by corporate think tanks, golfers and shooting groups as well as being a wedding venue. Vance met Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Kent, and the pair engaged in carp fishing. A trip to Scotland would come just weeks after President Trump spent five days in Scotland. Police Scotland said previously officers were planning for a visit from the US Vice President during his holiday in the UK. The Daily Record has contacted the force over Tuesday's police presence at the estates.
