Hoffenheim consider snapping up Vladimir Coufal on a free
Coufal obviously constitutes a low-risk solution as the veteran can be obtained on a free. In terms of potential internal solutions, recently re-signed Hoffenheim defender Arthur Chaves has some experience on the right-hand-side of defense. German-Nigerian allrounder Kevin Akpoguma can also fill in at the position. Kicker notes that the club administrative team presently mulls over several options.
Coufal made 22 Premier League appearances for the Hammers last season and remains a regular on the Czech national team. The now 55-times-capped Czech international maintains an estimated market value of €5m and is one of the more valuable players at his position without a club. Over the course of five seasons in East London, Coufal made 147 English top flight appearances.

Man United: Ruben Amorim explains Onana's absence against Arsenal
André Onana Before the Premier League showdown between Manchester United and Arsenal, Red Devils coach Ruben Amorim spoke out about André Onana's absence. This Sunday, André Onana is not in the Manchester United squad for their first big clash of the season against Arsenal in the Premier League. The Cameroonian goalkeeper was deemed not quite ready to return to action. Ahead of the encounter with the Gunners, Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim explained his decision to leave Onana out. "He's not injured, he's recovered… but the other players worked well during pre-season, so I have to find a balance. Next week, it'll be a different story. This week, we chose these players." the coach stated. A tactical decision, then.

Real Madrid star risks punishment after arriving late to training
A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid reported for training late on Sunday morning. That's according to journalist Álvaro Esteban, who points towards Rodrygo as the Blancos star in question. Frontman Rodrygo has of course seen his name return to the forefront of the headlines in Spain's capital over the course of the last week. This comes amid the understanding that the Brazilian, out of favour under new head coach Xabi Alonso, has emerged as a leading transfer target on the part of Manchester City. Those of a Real Madrid persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be interested to learn of Rodrygo on Sunday setting himself up for a potential sanction on the part of Real Madrid. As per a report from Álvaro Esteban: 'Rodrygo, with his future still up in the air and Manchester City on alert, arrived at Valdebebas this morning at 9:42. The time stipulated by Xabi Alonso for those who aren't injured is 9:30.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Newcastle sign Ramsey from Aston Villa
Newcastle on Sunday announced they had signed midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa. "The 24-year-old becomes the Magpies' fourth first team addition of the summer after penning a long-term deal at St. James' Park," said the club on their website, without specifying the length of the contract or the transfer fee. British media reported the Magpies paid Villa £39 million ($52.9 million), with a further £4m in potential add-ons. Ramsey came through the youth system at Villa and made 167 appearances for the club. Last season, despite a mid-campaign hamstring injury, he played in 46 games, including 10 in the Champions League, but was often used off the bench. Newcastle pipped Villa to a Champions League berth at the end of last season. The two clubs opened their new campaigns by drawing 0-0 on Saturday. Ramsey was not part of the Villa squad for the game. "It's been a mad two or three days, but I'm really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started," said Ramsey on Newcastle's website. The club have signed Anthony Elanga, Aaron Ramsdale and Malick Thiaw, but have struggled to land other targets. Star striker Alexander Isak was not in the squad on Saturday following his reaction to the club turning down a bid from Liverpool. Coach Eddie Howe said it has been a "stressful" summer, but on Sunday was happy with his new signing. "Jacob is another fantastic addition to our squad," said Howe. "His qualities will bring us something different on the pitch and he fits the profile of being young and hungry to develop, but also with a wealth of Premier League football." Ramsey was part of England's European Under-21 Championship-winning squad in 2023 alongside new team-mate Anthony Gordon. bur-pb/nf
