'Feeling of general apathy' despite win at Old Trafford

Before this season it was hard to imagine a world where West Ham fans would struggle to care about doing the double over Manchester course it was great watching us win 2-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, after our 2-1 victory in October at London Stadium. But given how woeful United's Premier League season has been and their upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham (come on you Reds, by the way!) their players could not have cared less, and it arguably the most important factor, and the most disheartening, in why there was a feeling of general apathy after the win is how abject 2024-25 has been for West Ham - proven by the fact the victory moved us to the heady heights of 15th!It's a shame really and sadly I can't see next season or beyond being much also bid farewell to some club legends at the end of the season, with Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal and Lukasz Fabianski all leaving when their contracts in my 30s, I still feel emotional saying goodbye to players who have given so much to our club. All three were integral in our recent historic European runs while Cresswell is the only player, along with Michail Antonio, who was there for the iconic last season at Upton I can't help but feel Coufal's departure is a little premature, I wish them all the very best for the future and thank them from the bottom of my heart for everything they have done for West more from Will Pugh at We Are West Ham, external

Did Cresswell and Fabianski deserve new deals?

We asked for your views on the impending departures of Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal and Danny IngsHere are some of your comments:Alison: Real professionals all of them. Their influence in the dressing room will be missed - would have possibly offered Cresswell and Fabianski another year. Go with my thanks for their contributions over the Sorry to see them go but it's time for change. Fabianski and Coufal have been consistently great and Cresswell was excellent until a couple of years ago. But unfortunately Ings never quite got going, he's talented, scored some important goals but didn't make a big Only gutted about Coufal leaving really. I think he's still got a lot to offer as a squad player and back-up to Wan-Bissaka. Cresswell and Fabianski have been great club servants but are getting on now. Danny Ings never had the best of times A mixed bag regarding the four departures. They are all good enough to be playing more first-team football than they currently are and if they want to leave for this reason then I'm happy for them. Ings leaving is the biggest plus and perhaps Cresswell the saddest - for his longevity, adaptability and presence off the pitch. I thought he may get another year to mentor Scarles and slot in at LB or left CB in a back three, but he leaves as a near-legend for the It's always hard to see long-serving players move on. Coufal. Cresswell and Fabianski have all played a big part at West Ham but Ings never really fitted in and certainly didn't get the number of goals we hoped for.. but good luck to them all.
