Nets' Egor Demin voted as biggest reach of the 2025 NBA Draft
"Even if you believe in [Demin] as a starting NBA point guard -- and I don't -- it seems like he would've been gettable at the end of the lottery, or even later," an Eastern Conference executive said of Demin, per ESPN's Jeremy Woo. Woo conducted a survey of 20 "anonymous NBA executives and scouts" asking for their opinion on the 2025 rookie class, including the biggest reach.
"Brooklyn held five first-round picks and ultimately made and rostered all five of them, enabling a strategy that led to several swings on playmaking prospects, including Demin," Woo wrote while discussing why the Nets would take a chance on Demin. "At 6-foot-9, Demin has excellent passing skills but was divisive for teams all season as he dealt with ups and downs adjusting to college basketball at BYU."
Demin, 19, is coming off a 2025 NBA Las Vegas Summer League in which he did not put up gaudy numbers, but answered some questions surrounding his shooting ability to play off the ball. Demin played three games during the summer league and averaged 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 40.7% from the field and 43.5% from three-point land.
Demin received seven votes among executives for the biggest reach of the 2025 Draft, followed by Portland Trail Blazers center Yang Hansen (four votes) and Memphis Grizzlies guard Cedric Coward (three). While Demin is regarded as a reach, it's still too early to be sure of his career. One scout that spoke to Woo echoed that sentiment by saying that he didn't cast his vote because "If [your] team believed in the guy, then take your guy," per Woo.

Even then, the teams may not have interest in parting ways with what it would take to acquire James. Dallas Mavericks One of those teams is the Mavericks. They have been linked to James on multiple occasions. Kyrie Irving is one of the faces of the franchise and he is close friends with James. The two have talked about reuniting at some point in time. Dallas has the contracts necessary to pull off a trade for James, but it wouldn't be easy. New York Knicks Another potential option would be the Knicks, who have plenty of big salaries that they could match for James. New York might have interest in bringing in a superstar like James, but the team isn't far off from being a championship contender. Trading for James would require a major breakup. 2026 Potential Free Agency Suitors This would be the most likely route for James' departure from Los Angeles. If he does hit the open free agency market next offseason and wants to keep playing, teams could show heavy interest in signing him. Cleveland Cavaliers One team to monitor would be the Cavaliers. They have been linked to having interest in a third stint with James, but they aren't among the teams who would have interest in trading for him. Depending on the price tag, James finishing out his career where it started would likely be an interesting option. Being able to play alongside of Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley could be a major draw for him as well. Teaming Up with Bryce James Finally, James has already been able to play on the same team as Bronny James with the Lakers. Bryce James will be draft eligible next offseason and he might have interest in playing with his younger son. Whether or not he will enter the 2026 NBA Draft remains to be seen, but that would be a situation to watch closely if he does. Post 2 falls to Charleston Post 65, 11-4, faces elimination game Saturday against Beckley
MORGANTOWN – Morgantown Post 2 managed only four hits and committed three errors on Friday night in an 11-4 loss to Charleston Post 65 on Day Two of the 2025 WV American Legion Baseball State Tournament. Post 2 outfielder Kane Williams continued his hot streak at the plate with two doubles to lead Morgantown, but Charleston tallied 11 hits to score their 11 runs and advance to the 2-0 game against Wheeling Post 1 on Saturday night. Morgantown will square off with Beckley Bash Post 32 on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in an elimination game. Charleston starting pitcher Trisdon Ciampanella tossed 4.1 innings with only one hit allowed and ten strikeouts on Friday night. 'He (Ciampanella) threw a lot of pitches we weren't ready for,' Post 2 head coach Jacob Goonight said. 'He didn't have his fastball to start the game and was getting us to swing at pitches that were tough to hit. I don't think we honed in on our approach until the fourth inning when he left the game. We didn't change anything or try to adjust enough to win that game.' Charleston broke the ice in the third inning as Landon Nida singled home a run to give his team a lead it wouldn't surrender. Five more runs came for Post 65 in the top of the fourth on only three hits. Luke Buckner doubled, scoring two runs before an error allowed two more. Grant Barclay added a final one in the inning with a single. Post 2 got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Parker Jeffries scored on a wild pitch. Mason Chaney and Nate Wolfe then each singled home a run to cut the lead in half, 6-3. But Post 65 scored another run in the top of the sixth and added four more in the seventh to slam the door on the tournament hosts. 'It started from the bats for us, when you aren't hitting well, it feeds into other areas of the game,' Goodnight said. 'It just wasn't a clean game for us. We preach clean, fun baseball, and I don't think we played the opposite of that today.'
