Overlooked Colwyn Bay rescue dog still waiting for new home
Zeus - also known as Yogi by the dedicated staff and volunteers at RSPCA Bryn Y Maen Animal Centre in Colwyn Bay - has been in RSPCA care for more than year, but sadly has had little interest.
In December, Zeus made the 215-mile trip from RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre in Durham to Upper Colwyn Bay in the hope that a change of location would help introduce him to potential new adopters and increase the chances of finding him a new home.
Despite press and social media appeals, Zeus is still waiting. Although one application came in for him, sadly it wasn't his perfect match.
This has meant that Zeus - who arrived in RSPCA due to concerns for himself and multiple other dogs - has seen countless other dogs find homes before him.
Animal Care Assistant Sarah Davies said: 'Zeus - who we now affectionately call Yogi - is just overlooked time after time. He is a larger boy - but he is so clever and has so much love to give.
'He watched so many of his furry friends find their perfect match before him - and we just don't want to see him spend one day longer than he needs to in kennels.
'Not many dogs travel across the country in search of a new home but Yogi is one of them. We'd love anyone who thinks they can offer him the right home to get in touch and arrange to come to the centre to meet her as we think they will be smitten.
'We hope to spread the word further than North Wales, to the borders to Cheshire, Liverpool, Shropshire, Staffordshire - as well as across Wales. If Yogi can travel the country - we know the perfect match for him will do the same for this loveable pooch!!'
The three-year-old Lurcher crossbreed is looking for a home where he is the only animal and also needs a secure garden to run about in. He would be suitable to live with children of secondary school age.
'Yogi is such a clever boy who is always willing to learn new things,' said Sarah. 'He loves to play and would love an active home so he can enjoy walking, running and playing to his hearts content.'
Other long stays at the centre include rabbit Sesame, who has been at RSPCA Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre for 314 days with no interest!
Chilled natured Sesame is looking to be gradually bonded with a female rabbit and could live either indoors or outdoors.
While cats Bean and Sprout have been waiting for 174 days with no interest from adopters.

The duo came into RSPCA care due to welfare concerns and are looking for a quieter home without other cats or a dog. After being a little anxious at the centre at first - they have blossomed into inquisitive, interactive boys who enjoy spending time playing with toys together or relaxing in the same bed.
On Sunday, May 18, RSPCA Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre will be holding their annual dog show and fete which will run between 11am and 4pm.
The Colwyn Bay centre will be opening its doors once again for all the family to enjoy a special dog show, a selection of stalls from local small businesses, bargain pre-loved pet goods along with VIP tours of the centre.
The event, which is supported by the Friends of Bryn Y Maen, will involve 10 competition classes along with a selection of stalls from local small businesses, bargain pre-loved pet goods along with VIP tours of the centre. Entry on the field will be £4 per car and £3 entry per dog class and it will be a cash-only event.

Two arrests and birds seized in Bradford in cockfighting probe

Woman arrested after police find bodies of 37 dogs at Essex home
A 25-year-old London woman has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after the discovery of 37 dead dogs. Essex Police confirmed the woman was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities also found the remains of four additional animals at the scene. Officers, together with staff from the RSPCA and Basildon Council, discovered the 37 dead dogs during a joint visit to a property in Crays Hill, Billericay, last month. A 25-year-old man, Ovaeed Rahman, of Hope Road in Crays Hill, Billericay, was last month charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. Rahman is also charged with an offence contrary to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and three counts of fraud by false representation. He appeared before Southend Magistrates' Court last month and was remanded in custody until a plea hearing at Basildon Crown Court on June 9. A second man, who was arrested on suspicion of fraud relating to transfer of ownership of dogs and animal cruelty offences, has been conditionally bailed until July. Police said that 21 live animals were recovered. The force said that following information provided by a member of the public, officers from Essex Police and the RSPCA carried out further investigations at the Crays Hill location on Wednesday. The original scene had been stood down on May 14. Police said the remains of four further animals were identified when buildings were dismantled by the landowner, with liaison with Essex Police. An Essex Police spokesperson said: 'We are now working to respectfully remove these remains from the scene and the Basildon Neighbourhood Policing Team will work to establish if they are linked to our investigation.' Inspector Steve Parry, of Basildon Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: 'We understand the concerns of the local community. 'We would ask people not to speculate and allow us to carry out our complex and thorough investigations.'
