Yamal, Raphinha, Flick: Barcelona Dominate Season Awards
Barcelona player Raphinha has been named La Liga player of the season, while his teammate Lamine Yamal gets the best youth player of the year.
The duo were key players in helping Barcelona win the domestic treble: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa.
The 28-year-old netted 34 goals and 25 assists in all competitions, including 18 goals and 9 assists in 36 La Liga games.
The Brazilian winger also shone in the Champions League – scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists. His 22 goal contributions in the Champions League matched Cristiano Ronaldo's record from the 2013-14 season.
The Catalan club was looking for a way to offload Raphinha, but instead, new coach Hansi Flick named him captain and offered him a contract extension until July 2028.
'The truth is that, for me, it changed pretty much everything. As I've said before in interviews, I was leaving the club before the season even started. The coach was super important in changing my mind and convincing me to stay,' Raphinha said in a press conference after the Celta Vigo game.
Yamal, still only 17, confirmed his status as one of the world's top talents this season, after scoring 18 goals and 21 assists in 55 games this season, including 9 goals and 13 assists in La Liga, along with five in the Champions League.
Hansi Flick has also been named La Liga's Best Coach of the Season after leading Barcelona to their third domestic treble in their history, making the Catalan club hold the record for the most trebles in Spain
Hansi Flick is the only coach to win the sextuple with Bayern Munich, following Pep Guardiola's historic triumph with Barcelona in 2009. Tags: BarcelonaHansi Flicklamine yamalRaphinha

Kevin De Bruyne Set to Join Napoli
Rabat – Kevin De Bruyne is on the verge of ending a decade at Manchester City after reaching a verbal agreement to join Napoli on a free transfer once his contract expires on 30 June. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano says final paperwork is being completed today, clearing the path for the Belgian player to become Antonio Conte's headline signing of the summer. The 33-year-old will fly to Napoli on Thursday for medical tests before signing a two-year contract that includes an option for a third season. According to multiple Italian outlets, the contract will pay about €6 million net per year for the first two campaigns, dropping to €5 million in the optional third, plus a signing-on bonus befitting his free-agent status. De Bruyne departs England as one of the Premier League's defining players: 422 appearances, 108 goals and 177 assists for City, with six league titles and the club's first Champions League crown on his career. Even in an injury-interrupted 2024-25 season, he produced 4 goals and 7 assists in 28 Premier League matches, still averaging a direct goal involvement every 155 minutes. Napoli coach Antonio Conte, who won Serie A in his debut season, sees De Bruyne as the creative core to reinforce his 4-3-3 formation. The Belgian can drop deep alongside Scott McTominay and Andre Anguissa to control the tempo, or push forward behind Lukaku to break defenses. For Napoli, the move is opportunistic. By bringing a Champions League-winning playmaker without paying a transfer fee, if De Bruyne delivers a bit of his Etihad form, he can help Napoli defend their Serie A title and mount a deep Champions League run. Florian Wirtz Set to Jump from Leverkusen to Liverpool
Rabat – Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have reached a verbal agreement on a €150 million deal for Florian Wirtz, a figure that would make the German player the third most expensive player in the Premier League, and only behind Neymar and Kylian Mbappé on the all-time global transfer list. Wirtz is expected to land in Liverpool within days for a medical and to finalize a deal that would tie him to the club until 2030, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 22-year-old joined Bayern Leverkusen in the 2019/2020 season, and since then, has scored 57 goals and 62 assists with the German club. Wirtz was a key player in Leverkusen's unbeaten 2023-24 Bundesliga title run, scoring 11 goals and 12 assists in 32 matches. He followed that with 10 goals and 12 assists this season, plus 6 goals in nine Champions League appearances. Those numbers made him one of the most wanted talented players in European clubs. Liverpool manager Arne Slot sees Wirtz as the connective player between midfield and attack. Whether deployed as a classic No. 10 or drifting from the left in Slot's fluid 4-2-3-1, the German's quick turns, disguised passes, and knack for late-arriving runs should complement Dominik Szoboszlai's ball carrying and Darwin Núñez's movement. Liverpool's owners are making a big but strategic investment. The fee surpasses Caicedo's €133 million move to Chelsea in 2023 and far exceeds the €85 million they paid for Núñez. Liverpool has a history of record-breaking transfers, including Virgil van Dijk, once the world's most expensive defender, and Alisson Becker, the priciest goalkeeper at the time. If Wirtz keeps progressing, the deal could prove smart, and soon, Liverpool fans might be chanting his name at Anfield. Tags: Bayer LeverkusenLiverpool
