‘As if his head wasn't big enough' says Muireann O'Connell as tensions rise on Ireland AM with multiple digs taken

THINGS heated up on Ireland AM this morning as Muireann O'Connell and Tommy Bowe took live digs at each other.

The Catholic Church is beginning the highly choreographed process of choosing its new leader following the
death of
Pope
Francis.
The presenters were speaking about who the new pope will be throughout the show.
Deric Hartigan, who was reporting live from the Wake Museum in
Waterford
to look through some artefacts, joked about Tommy becoming the new pope.
He said: "We have the pipe here. We could have some white smoke from Waterford. Papa Bowe, it's got a ring to it. Pope Bowe."

added: "I like that Deric."
Later on in the show, they were talking about whether or not people remove their
shoes
at their door when entering their home.

Alan said with surprise: "Well, we have been inundated with people who sort of said, 'Yes, that's exactly what we do'."
Muireann read out a viewer message saying: "Anita has a no shoe policy in her house. But for people who don't want to take them off, Anita has those little booties that you put over your shoes if you're in a hospital… the elastic blue booties."

native remarked: "My God, I use them when I'm viewing houses. Some houses have them when you're viewing them.
"That's the only time I've ever put one of those on is viewing houses."

Tommy asked: "If you turned up to Anita's house now and she asked to put the shoes on."
Muireann replied: "I'd have no issue with putting on the booties. I wouldn't take off my shoes."
Alan remarked: "Muireann just has a thing about taking off her shoes."
SHOE GATE
The presenter added: "Yeah, I just wouldn't like to do it."

Tommy quizzed his co-hosts further saying: "When you walk into the door, do you keep shoes on?"
Muireann and Alan both said in unison, "yeah".
Tommy disagreed saying: "I'd probably take the shoes off when I go in through the door."
And when Muireann admitted that she puts her slippers on, Tommy quickly said: "Well, then we're all the same."

Muireann replied: "No, I know, but I'd wear my slippers
running
out to the car as well. They're not just house shoes."
Tommy pointed out: "Yeah. But you're taking your shoes off at the front door."
'WE'RE NOT AS RIVETING'
Muireann argued back saying: "Not always. It's if I'm being comfortable."
Alan looked baffled by the extensive house etiquette conversation and said: "I swear to God, I never, never come across this."

Muireann joked about Tommy's podcast, who he hosts with his pal Donncha O'Callaghan, saying: "Lads, you know what? There's a podcast in that.
"Tommy will be talking about his podcast this week. [Saying], 'So Donner, do you take your shoes off when you go in?', 45 minutes, not a bit of rugby says."
The Monaghan native didn't take too kindly to her jibe and hit back saying: "It'll be a lot more riveting than talking to these two."
Alan burst out laughing while Muireann joined in on the laughs.

Teasing the
next
segment, Tommy said: "Alright then, coming up, we're going to talk about Pope movies with Brian Lloyd."
Muireann slagged him saying: "Oh my God, that's so riveting."
Speaking to the viewers, she added: "Plus up next, actor and playwright Stephen Jones, he's going to talk about his recent project.
"Alan's going to do that with me, because we're not as riveting."
