A woman whose vehicle was hit by a speeding driver in Long Beach has died almost a month after the crash, police said.
At about 8:30 a.m. on March 8, a 2022 Chrysler 300 'traveling at a high rate of speed' southbound on Atlantic Avenue hit a 2010 Pontiac G6 that was headed north on Atlantic and turning west onto Harding Street, the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release.
The crash sent both vehicles into the southwest corner of the intersection, and the Chrysler hit a cinderblock wall.
Both drivers were hospitalized, but on Sunday, the LBPD learned that the driver of the Pontiac, a 58-year-old Long Beach woman named Kay Lynn Dehorney, succumbed to her injuries.
The identity of the Chrysler driver has not been made public.
The crash remains under investigation, and police said 'speed is considered a contributing factor in the collision.'
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kevin Johansen at 562-570-7355.

15-year-old boy sitting at bus stop killed in Long Beach crash

A 15-year-old boy sitting at a bus stop was killed after being struck by a car in Long Beach. On June 11, Long Beach police responded to a crash at Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street shortly before 3 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it ran a red light at the Palo Verde Avenue intersection. The Infiniti struck a Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue. The impact caused the Infiniti sedan to overturn. The car skidded onto a sidewalk and struck the 15-year-old boy who was sitting at the bus stop. The boy was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The Infiniti driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition and the Prius driver was uninjured. 'At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision,' police said. The 15-year-old boy's identity was not released. The fatal crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call LBPD Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Person of interest in deadly Orange Mound shooting identified

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A photo has been released of a person of interest in a shooting that killed a man at a convenience store in Orange Mound last week. On June 2, officers say they responded to a shooting call at Save-A-Stop 1 on 1461 Pendleton Street, where a man was found on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Second arrest made in Hickory Hill gas station shooting Investigators say video footage showed the man was involved in a verbal argument with a man, later identified as 'Ray Ray', before the shooting. They say the video captured 'Ray Ray' going around to the south side of the store, which was out of camera view. The victim is then seen walking around the corner of the store with an unidentified woman wearing a green shirt and black pants, also walking the same way as 'Ray Ray.' After the shooting, police say 'Ray Ray' was seen getting into a white, 4-door Chrysler 300 with a black hood, and leaving the scene going westbound on Deadrick Avenue. The unidentified woman was seen running northbound on Pendleton Street. No arrests have been made at this time. But this is still an ongoing investigation. Family grieves boy hit and killed while riding his bike in northeast Houston

HOUSTON - A family is calling for someone to step forward about a hit-and-run incident that killed a 12-year-old boy Tuesday night. What they're saying 12-year-old Zachariah Benjamin was a middle school student at Forest Brook who had dreams of playing pro football. "A loving kid who wanted to be outside all the time, wanted to play with his friends, like he did yesterday. Just a people's person," said Benjamin's sister, Monique Brown. "(He) loved football, loved playing. Just loved being a regular kid, loved having fun." Zacariah was tragically killed Tuesday night while heading home on his bike after playing with friends. A route he took often. His sister said they are devastated. "To go through death like my family. We lost our mother in 2016. A couple months later, our grandmother. A year later, our sister from a car crash. So it hits home. You get numb to it, almost. Somebody who was innocent, that hasn't finished his full life yet, to be taken," said Brown. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said around 9 p.m. Tuesday along Suburban Road, Zachariah was riding his bike on the sidewalk when a dog ran out and chased him, causing him to lose control of his bike. He fell on the roadway and was hit by a car that drove off. "I just want the person to come forward. I feel like you're making it worse for yourself when you left the scene and all you could have done was a mistake something that could have been prevented if they weren't driving fast," said Brown. Authorities said they have surveillance video of the incident and found car and bike parts on scene. Witnesses told police they saw the car speeding and said the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says they are looking for the driver of possibly a black Chrysler 300 year model range from 2015 to 2023.
