MacGyver Mom Saves the Day After Teen Daughter's Prom Dress Rips 5 Minutes Before Photos (Exclusive)

In April, Allie Kampas and her parents were getting ready to take her younger sister, Lexie, to her prom photo location to meet her friends
But just five minutes before they were set to leave, the zipper on Lexie's dress completely split, leaving it wide open
Though Lexie was ready to rush to the mall for a new dress, her mom, Amy, 54, decided to try fixing it herselfAllie Kampas and her parents were getting ready to take her younger sister, Lexie, to her prom photo location to meet her friends. But just five minutes before they were set to leave, Lexie's boyfriend helped zip up her dress after filming a TikTok transition and the zipper completely split, leaving the dress wide open.
Panicking, the high school junior screamed, 'MOOOOMMMMM, SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED!'
Though Lexie was ready to rush to the mall for a new dress, her mom, Amy, 54, decided to try fixing it herself. After several failed attempts, Amy quickly realized that the traditional fix wasn't going to work.
At the time, the family, who lives in Orange County, Calif., was at their newly built house, which wasn't fully moved into and barely had supplies. But Amy wasn't deterred. She began scouring the house for anything that might help.
"I literally had to think fast about what I had access to in a house we don't even live in yet," Amy tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I learned how to sew at a young age, but I had nothing here. So I opened a bathroom drawer and thought, 'What do I have?' I saw dental floss and figured that could work."
"Then I needed something to feed it through, and I spotted bobby pins," Amy continues. "Then I needed to poke holes — so I grabbed the cuticle scissors. I started threading the floss with the bobby pins, poking holes along the broken zipper line. My daughter was panicking, ready to leave and find a new dress, but I just said, 'Nope, we're going to figure this out.' Stitch by stitch, the dress started coming back together, and Lexie calmed down. It took maybe five minutes, tops, and each stitch gave me more confidence.'
"Honestly, we were in a house we don't even live in full-time, so watching her open drawers and improvise was wild — but not surprising," Allie adds. "She always finds a way."
Throughout the whole dilemma, Allie captured the moment on camera. Later, she posted it to her TikTok account, thinking it was both hilarious and amazing.
Then, the video went viral, amassing more than 13.4 million views and 1,300 comments. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
'There's nothing a woman cannot do,' one user commented.
'I remember so many times saying, 'It's ok, my mom can fix it!' And that's the kind of mom I want to be,' another wrote.
Someone else said, "I just learned a serious life hack from your mother.'

After the first video went viral, Allie took to her TikTok again to share a video of the finished product.
"When the video went viral, the family was thrilled to read all the positive and relatable comments," Allie says. "It felt extra special with Mother's Day coming up. My mom was especially glad that people saw the value of being resourceful and not giving up — something she's always taught us."
"We were overwhelmed in the best way," she adds. "So many people shared similar stories of their moms swooping in during a fashion crisis. It felt like a big, warm group hug from the Internet."

"We Simply Do Not Care Anymore": Women Over 40 Are Sharing Things They're Fed Up With At This Point

If you have not ridden the rollercoaster known as perimenopause, congrats. Ditto if you're one of the lucky ones who can say it was "not that bad." But for many women, the years leading up to menopause can bring with them hot flashes, insomnia, vertigo, vaginal dryness, joint pain, and a host of other "fun" surprises. It's like a second puberty, but there's no Judy Blume book for this. So when I, a frequent flyer on Hot Flash Airlines, came across Melani (@justbeingmelani) on TikTok, it was like a breath of fresh air. Melani is the founder of the "We Do Not Care Club," a group for women in perimenopause and menopause. In the comments of her daily videos, women share things that we simply do not care about today. Then, the next day, Melani reads them back to the club, and commenters add new submissions. Here are some of my personal favorite "We Do Not Care Club" submissions that made me laugh and nod my head "yes" so hard I got a neck ache: 1."I don't care that I have a California king and I sleep on one half and the other half is a two-week pile of clothes out of the dryer." —sam_i_am_1968 2."I don't care what my family eats for dinner NO MORE! Miley Cyrus Surprises Fans With Intimate ‘Something Beautiful' Set At Chateau Marmont

There was a lot of love in the room at the Chateau Marmont Tuesday night as Miley Cyrus debuted her album Something Beautiful for a small crowd of about 100 fans — as evidenced by the couple that got engaged right in front of a surprised Cyrus after she wrapped up a performance of her song 'End of the World.' 'Go get a room, put it on my bill,' Cyrus said, jaw agape as the couple embraced and the crowd erupted in cheers. More from The Hollywood Reporter Edge of Seventeen: How the K-Pop Powerhouse Is Reinventing Itself How Reneé Rapp Says Her Mom Manifested Her Becoming a "Pop Star" Sass to Sobs, Diddy's Ex-Assistant Testifies About Gunpoint Kidnapping But Changes Some Details It was a fittingly intimate moment for the evening, hosted by TikTok, as the fans hand selected by Cyrus's team on the platform got to listen to Something Beautiful in full before Cyrus surprised the attendees with a 45-minute set. The crowd was made up mainly of fans, but also had a few friends like Anya Taylor-Joy. The crowd piled into the Chateau at 6 p.m., with most expecting just to listen to the album a few days early before its wide release this Friday. But by 7 p.m., the chatty room briefly went silent, wondering what was happening next before once again exploding with shouts and applause as Cyrus came out up front with her band. 'You like your style, and you love mine,' Cyrus quipped, glammed out in a shimmering silver old Hollywood-style dress as she started with Something Beautiful track 'More to Lose.' She then played latest single 'Easy Lover' before belting last year's smash hit 'Flowers,' telling the crowd she hopes all of her upcoming album's songs 'touch people the way this song has.' Cyrus, flanked pianist Michal Pollack, drummer Maxx Morando and guitarist Jonathan Rado, was loose and comfortable around her fans, opining between songs about growing up together and how the fans In the room have stuck with her through the many changes in her sound and personal life since her days as a teen idol as Hannah Montana nearly 20 years ago. 'We really did grow up together, that's why it's so emotional for all of us, we've been on this journey together,' Cyrus said. 'We start to even outgrow ourselves, there's things we gain but things we also leave behind. And I've never wanted that to be you. I've never wanted that to be my fans, everyone I grew up with. As I started to go deeper on my own personal journey, it's always been my hope and vision that you all would come with me. It's always greatly appreciated when you do, and you always do.' Talking about that growth and the 'different species' of butterflies she gets in the room with her fans, she then went into an impromptu performance of 'The Climb,' joking that she 'wasn't going to perform' the song before fans goaded her. She finished up with 'End of the World.' During her set, Cyrus had talked about making Something Beautiful, which will also have an accompanying film, over the past couple years amid the Endless Summer Vacation era, joking that 'I wasn't on vacation, I was making the next album.' 'The next time you're spamming the comments, just know I'm busy in my bikini,' she said. Cyrus walked fans through the concept of Something Beautiful, telling the crowd 'it's about taking these experiences, even when they're painful or we want to throw them away because they're just too much to bear, and wrapping them in beautiful bows and ribbons and appreciating all these gifts and experiences that we can't understand how they're going to serve us later in our life.' While she's days away from the Something Beautiful era even coming into full swing, before she finished up the night with 'End of the World,' Cyrus teased even more music, readying fans to come along for that ride too. 'My next album is about to be extremely experimental, so have fun with that,' she said as her fans cheered her on. 'Something Beautiful is just the appetizer.' Ron Howard Reveals How He Really Felt About His 'Happy Days' Co-Star Henry Winkler

Ron Howard is revealing if it was a happy day when he met his co-star Henry Winkler. In the 1970s, Howard and Winkler starred in the ABC sitcom 'Happy Days' as Ritchie Cunningham and Fonzie — 'The Fonz' to fans. Now, more than half a century since the show first aired, Howard is reflecting on their first meeting. In an interview posted on Thursday, Howard told People that the two actors 'clicked.' Although it began strictly on a 'professional level' at first, Howard said he 'looked up to' his co-star. 'Henry's a few years older than I am. Yale-educated, and he looked at acting in a way that was — it wasn't Hollywood,' he said. 'It was a little more intellectual. It was theater-based, and that was new to me. But more than anything, we just got along beautifully and worked well together.' Howard also stated that Winkler stood out from others in the industry at the time. The camaraderie between the two may not have initially started jukebox magic, but it grew to a lasting creative partnership and friendship. In a May 22 interview with the outlet, Howard also credited Winkler with helping launch his directing career. While working on their sitcom, Howard was honing his craft — and after he left the series, opportunity knocked in the form of the 1982 film 'Night Shift.' 'Henry was always so supportive of that. When Henry said yes to Night Shift, that's what got that movie greenlit,' Howard reminisced. 'He played a hand in helping my dream ultimately come true, which was to be a studio, Hollywood, feature director.'
