NSA Ajit Doval's Moscow visit called off after his seasonal flu diagnosis
Doval was to hold bilateral meetings with his various counterparts during the summit, including Shoigu, and was also expected to meet with Russian officials to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security issues.Had Doval attended the meeting, it would have been his first visit to Moscow following Operation Sindoor. The meeting also assumed significance due to Indian air strikes on Pakistani terror launch pads and the role played by BrahMos missiles, an India-Russia joint venture, and the S-400 air defence system. It was likely that discussions with Russian authorities would have taken place over ongoing tensions with Pakistan apart from defence cooperation with Moscow and other regional security challenges.Like India, Pakistan is also a member of the SCO, and its NSA Lt Gen Asim Malik is also expected to be in Moscow for the meeting, news agency PTI reported.Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh cancelled their Russia visits earlier this month owing to the security situation after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed.Tune InMust Watch

Rubio: Trump-Putin progress warrants Zelenskyy, European leaders' Washington meeting
Talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have created enough momentum for a follow-up meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders in Washington. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed progress on key issues, including borders, security guarantees, and Ukraine's military alliances, though he warned significant compromises would be required from both Russia and Ukraine. Talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin sparked enough momentum to warrant a meeting with Ukrainian and European leaders, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told CBS on Sunday. Rubio also stated that both Russia and Ukraine would have to make compromises to stop the war, and that the US may be unable to create a situation that ensures peace. European leaders will accompany Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Washington on Monday, hoping to buttress him as Trump urges Ukraine to accept a speedy peace accord following his meeting with Putin on Friday. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'I'm not saying we're on the verge of a peace deal, but I am saying that we saw movement, enough movement to justify a follow-up meeting with Zelenskyy and the Europeans,' Rubio told the 'Face the Nation' show. Rubio's comments were among the first by senior US officials present at the talks with Putin. In a social media post, Trump wrote, 'BIG PROGRESS ON RUSSIA. STAY TUNED!' he gave no details Speaking separately to Fox News' 'Sunday Morning Futures' program, Rubio said the talks had narrowed down the key issues. These included drawing borders, long-term security guarantees for Kyiv, and which military alliances Ukraine could have, he said, adding 'there's a lot of work that remains.' Putin has ruled out Ukraine becoming a member of NATO. Article 5 of the alliance's charter is a mutual defence pact obliging allies to defend a member from attacks. Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy to Russia, told CNN that the US side had won 'the concession that the United States could offer Article Five-like protection.' Pressed for details, he said, 'the United States is potentially prepared to be able to give Article Five security guarantees, but not from NATO, directly from the United States, and other European countries.' This would be one of the topics for discussion on Monday, he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD According to sources, Trump and Putin discussed proposals for Russia to relinquish tiny pockets of occupied Ukraine in exchange for Ukraine ceding a swathe of fortified land in the east and freezing the front lines elsewhere. 'We may not like it, it may not be pleasant, it may be distasteful, but in order for there to be an end of the war, there are things Russia wants that it cannot get, and there are things Ukraine wants that it's not going to get,' said Rubio. In a separate interview with ABC, Rubio said if a deal could not be reached to end the war, existing US sanctions on Russia would continue, and more could be added. When Zelenskyy visited the White House in February, the meeting ended in a shouting match. Rubio, speaking to CBS, dismissed the idea that the European leaders were coming to Washington to protect Zelenskyy. 'They're not coming here tomorrow to keep Zelenskyy from being bullied. They're coming here tomorrow because we've been working with the Europeans,' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'We invited them to come.'

Putin's ‘jelly legs' in Alaska meeting with Trump spark conspiracy theories online
As Russian President Vladimir Putin met US President Donald Trump in Alaska, a video of their conversation after their joint press conference has gone viral. It showed the Russian leader's legs 'twitching suspiciously' as he bid farewell to Trump. In the clip, the Russian leader kept dipping one knee as he stood beside Trump, making his legs appear wobbly.(X/ghostofRoc) The Kremlin footage showed Putin's knee jolting repeatedly as he stood in a corner talking to his US counterpart, along with a translator, flanked by security teams and aides. In the clip, the Russian leader kept dipping one knee as he stood beside Trump, making his legs appear wobbly, as he continued to raise his left toe and heel. Ukrainian social media users and news outlets were quick to float conspiracy theories to explain the Russian leader's actions. While some accused him of wearing "hidden platforms" in his shoes due to a 'Napoleon complex', others claimed that he donned an "exoskeleton' to better his posture. On X, many began theorising that the twitching and 'jelly legs' were caused by a "mysterious" health condition. "Putin may be suffering from a mysterious illness. The 72-year-old Putin with a swollen face is suffering from jelly legs (uncontrollable leg twitching)," claimed one user. Another remarked, 'What the heck is wrong with Putin? Look at his body, almost convulsing, unable to stand still.' Others theorised that the Russian leader never landed in Alaska and a body double was sent in his place to meet Trump. "I don't think a KGB Master Spy would shake his legs so much when standing. This guy ain't Putin," said one of them. Many also pointed to Putin's absence of his usual 'gunslinger gait.' The Russian leader usually walks with one arm still by his side and the other swinging, likely due to his KGB training, in which agents hold a gun close to themselves when walking.
