One of UK's busiest airports unveils brand new £100 million upgrade

The new terminal is part of the first phase of Leeds Bradford Airport's £100 million terminal expansion project
Passengers at Leeds Bradford Airport have hailed the new terminal as 'brill' and even 'better than Manchester Airport' on its opening day.
The airport's £100 million terminal expansion project has unveiled a host of new facilities, including additional seating, two new lounges, an improved baggage reclaim area, and an upgraded passport control.

From Tuesday, all passengers arriving and departing via LBA will move through the upgraded terminal facilities. The terminal expansion includes a modernised arrivals process, including a new baggage reclaim area and an upgraded passport control facility incorporating advanced security technologies.

The new terminal has 83% more seating, an "food and drink offering" and two premium lounges, including the brand-new Six Eight One Premium Lounge.
Travellers heading to Krakow on Tuesday, June 17, shared their thoughts on the new amenities and how they stack up against Manchester.
Polish couple Szymon Machynia and Agata Koc, who were off to a religious ceremony related to their Rodzimowierstwo faith, which inspired elements in 'The Witcher' Netflix series, praised the new setup, reports Leeds Live.
Szymon, a mill operative, expressed his disdain for Manchester Airport: "I hate Manchester, I despise that airport. It's hard to get in there, it's easy to get lost around. If they change something you suddenly have to go from one spot in the airport to the other. It's awful.
"Leeds is nice and small. Security was brill, it was fast and simple. The new gate was great and the new machines improve the process. I still had to take my shoes off – but maybe one day we'll get there."

Agata, a photographer, also shared her approval: "I think this terminal is better than the other one. The old one was small but this one is open and everything was [clearly] signposted where to go."
Doncaster-based plumber Filip Dziegielewski, 39, set to embark on a European jaunt with friends, praised the convenience of his departure point, remarking, "It looks very nice and tidy, very modern. Good connections. Security was very fast today, everything was working."
He added, "Leeds will be better than Manchester once they finish work on the bus from Doncaster to Leeds. It's 40 miles but it takes one and half hour. Manchester is busy and here it is very quiet."

Wakefield local, technical logistics supervisor and father-of-three Slawomir Baokowski, 38, on his way to see family, expressed enthusiasm about the airport. He said "It's fantastic, honestly. It's really nice and fresh, good job. There's loads here. Honestly, and it's the first time I say this, but it's better in Leeds than Manchester Airport. In Manchester, there's too many people there."
Alan Brytan, 23, who specialises in quality control, heading to reunite with relatives, was not aware work was underway.
"It's quite surprising, to be honest, I wasn't aware of it. It's come together really nicely. This was completely new news to me. I got a notification on my phone saying 'gate seven', and I asked some guy about it. It's a whole new terminal, like a whole new world. It looks much nicer.," he said.
"If you want to travel, it's still better just to go to Manchester. If you're going closer to home then this is the better airport."

The guest gift bag from the nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in May 2018 is listed on the online marketplace, complete with mementos from the special day including a water bottle, shortbread biscuits, a fridge magnet, guest badge, large chocolate coin, a gift bag, a postcard and "associated literature." ‌ The Royal wedding was a significant event, attracting thousands to Windsor in the UK to witness the union of Harry and Meghan. The guest list boasted British royalty, aristocracy, celebrities and Meghan's co-stars from the Netflix series Suits. ‌ Priced at $419 (£312) on eBay, the listing provides a detailed look at the contents, which include documents for the guests and advice on bringing forms of identification. An order of service from the day and wristbands for the guest to wear are also included. The product description reads, "This product is a commemorative item for guests of the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Including water bottle, shortbread biscuits, magnet, badge, chocolate coin, gift bag, postcard and associated literature." Meghan, the brains behind the trendy lifestyle brand As Ever, has sent her followers into a tizzy by revealing a restock of her immensely popular items which had previously sold out in a snap after their April debut, reports the Mirror US. ‌ The former actress who launched her latest venture in conjunction with her Netflix series, has now made an announcement that fans have another chance to snag her much-coveted wares. This comes as a surprise shift from her prior thought not to restock or introduce new offerings till 2026. ‌ Her post read, "So much love has gone into I can't wait to share it with you this Friday, June 20th!". She also spilled the beans in a newsletter to her loyal customers about the return of the beloved brand, penning her gratitude: "First off, a sincere thank you for making the debut of As ever absolutely extraordinary. We had a feeling there would be excitement, but to see everything sell out in less than an hour was an amazing surprise. We are pleased to share that on June 20th, we're going live with the products you love – plus, some new delicious surprises.'". This joyous update comes hot on the heels of Meghan's candid revelations on her podcast, 'Confessions of a Female Founder', where she opened up about the trials and tribulations of establishing her brand and the private 'tears' she's shed along the way. She expressed, "So for me at the moment, with As Ever, it was great. We planned for a year we get and then everything sells out in 45 minutes. Yes, amazing, great news. Then what do you do? And then you say 'Ok, we planned as best as we could. Are we going to replenish and sell out again in an hour? Or is that annoying as a customer?" "I'm looking at it saying 'Just pause. That happened. Let's wait until we are completely stable and we have everything we need.''".

Popular Netflix film spin-off thrown into chaos as cast and crew are hit with illness during overseas shoot

A popular Netflix spin-off has reportedly been plunged into chaos after cast and crew were struck down with food poisoning. Production on Sherlock Holmes spin-off Enola Holmes, starring Millie Bobby Brown, had moved from Shepperton Studios to Malta for its final weeks of filming. However, things came to a screeching halt after members of the team fell ill due to suspected dodgy catering, according to The Sun. The unexpected setback has delayed the shoot, causing pressure on the team to hit the deadlines. A source told the publication: 'It's a nightmare because these productions run to such tight schedules and filming had to be stopped. 'There were a fair few affected and it meant everything had to grind to a halt until they got better. 'It ended up being a bout of food poisoning which is just really unfortunate. Luckily it wasn't anything too serious and everyone recovered but it put pressure on them in terms of hitting deadlines.' Earlier this year, Millie Bobby Brown confirmed she would be returning as Enola Holmes, the younger sister of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective Sherlock Holmes. Henry Cavill is back as Sherlock, with Himesh Patel returning as Dr. Watson, and Louis Partridge reprising his role as Enola's love interest, Viscount Tewkesbury. Helena Bonham Carter returns as Eudoria Holmes, while Sharon Duncan-Brewster continues to portray the villainous Moriarty. Production kicked off earlier this year for the third season, with Netflix targeting a late 2025 release. Plot details are under wraps but it will reportedly be a darker iteration than the previous two instalments. In the movie, the youngest member of the Holmes family goes off in search of her missing mother, even as her more famous brothers try to thwart her investigation. The film was originally planned for a theatrical release by Warner Bros., but it was picked up by Netflix in April amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Speaking about the second sequel in a statement for Deadline, leading lady Millie said: 'I can't wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family! 'Enola holds a special place in my heart – she's strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!' Millie previously revealed that she 'found it really challenging being British' in the role after five years in the American Netflix series Stranger Things. The actress, who grew up in Dorset, England, and settled in Florida with her family to pursue her acting career aged eight, said she 'had to learn how to speak again'. Speaking to Radio Times, she said: 'For the last five years I've been playing an American character in Stranger Things and I found it really challenging being British in this, even though I am a Brit. 'I had to learn how to speak again because I'm so used to speaking in an American accent.'
