Man, 50, Allegedly Beaten To Death By Railway Cops Inside Moving Train

A 50-year-old labourer died after being allegedly beaten by Government Railway Police (GRP) constables in the general coach of the Gondwana Express.
The incident occurred between Agra and Mathura, when the victim, Ramdayal Ahirwar, a resident of Palera in Tikamgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, was travelling with his son to Delhi for work.
According to the victim's son, Vishal Ahirwar, the duo boarded the general coach of the Gondwana Express from Lalitpur on Monday after arriving by the Geeta Jayanti Express. Their destination was Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi, where they were to proceed to Palam village, where Vishal works.
The tragic incident unfolded shortly after the train departed from Agra station. Vishal recounted that his father lit a beedi inside the general coach. GRP constables present on the train objected and allegedly started beating Ramdayal.
Vishal, who was asleep at the time, was awakened by the commotion and informed by fellow passengers about the assault. Despite his pleas to stop, the constables allegedly continued their assault.
Witnesses say the constables dragged Ramdayal from the general coach to the sleeper coach, which was connected, and continued beating him there. As Ramdayal's health deteriorated, the matter was reported to the Railway Control Room in Mathura.
When the train reached Mathura Junction, the constables reportedly got off the train with Ramdayal's body and then left, continuing their journey. A medical team was called, and the attending doctor declared Ramdayal dead on the spot.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) at Mathura took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem after conducting a Panchnama. An official investigation has been initiated following the serious allegations made by the victim's son.

Mumbra train mishap: Probe slows down as inputs from key CR staff awaited
Thane: The Government Railway Police (GRP) investigation into last week's Mumbra rail accident has apparently hit a standstill, with key technical staff from the Central Railway still unavailable to offer their statements, police officials said. A GRP team led by Assistant Police Commissioner, Mumbai CSMT, S Shirsat is conducting a parallel probe into the incident that led to the death of four and left ten injured. This is alongside the Central Railway investigations led by its expert team. The police said they have spoken and recorded statements of railway staff and a few injured passengers admitted to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital (CSMH) at Kalwa last week. A police unit has also been stationed at Mumbra station since the incident, while another police team led by ACP Shirsat and Thane railway police senior inspector Archana Dusane has meticulously mapped the track distance between platforms 3 and 4 and also the bend ahead of the platforms. "We've spoken to the injured passengers—some claimed that bogies of two local trains, running in opposite directions, brushed against each other. We've completed preliminary inquiries and are investigating further. There are several theories, but we will have to wait for inputs from the railway technical staff as their observations will be crucial for us to proceed and draw conclusions," said a senior police official. Meanwhile, six of the ten injured were discharged after undergoing orthopaedic surgeries from the CSMH, while one still admitted will undergo surgery on Monday, informed Dr Rakesh Barot, the hospital dean. One patient requiring neurosurgery was transferred to JJ Hospital last week, while two others remain in critical condition at Jupiter Hospital. The injured passengers told their relatives that the incident happened in a split second, giving them no time to react. "It felt like the bogie of the adjoining train came too close," said the elder brother of Adesh Bhoir from Kasara. Sneha Dhonde from Titwala, who suffered multiple stitches on her head, recalls she was travelling in the first ladies' coach of the CSMT-bound local when the mishap occurred.

Tripura Police arrest a man carrying a pistol, ammunition in North Tripura district
The Tripura Police arrested a man and seized six rounds of ammunition, a pistol, and a smartphone from his possession at Monacherra village under Khedacherra police station in North Tripura district on Sunday. The arrested person was identified as Lalit Kumar Reang, 54. 'A case was lodged against him under Sections 25 (1)(a) of the Arms Act, 1959, and 61(2)/3(5) of BNS, 2023. He will be produced before the court,' said a police officer in North Tripura District. On May 30, a 25-year-old woman was arrested along with a pistol, a few live cartridges, and 7,800 yaba tablets worth Rs 20 lakh in Bhagyapur under Dharmanagar sub-division of North Tripura district. Nearly three weeks ago, eight pistols and 16 empty magazines were seized from an express train at Agartala railway station. The operation was conducted jointly by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The seized pistols were all factory-made and smaller in size than the 9mm service pistols.

Blind man slips through train-platform gap, dies
: Days after an accident near Mumbra station that resulted in four deaths and nine injuries when two packed trains crossed on a curve, and caused those standing on footboards to fall, yet another mishap occurred at Ghatkopar railway station on Friday evening. A 51-year-old visually impaired man, Sanjay Jagjappa Matange, died after slipping through the gap between a local train and the platform. Sambhaji Yadav, senior police inspector, Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP), said the deceased slipped from the platform after he was overcome by a sudden spell of dizziness. The incident occurred at 7.44pm when the slow local running from Parel to Thane arrived at Ghatkopar station's platform number 1. Soon after the incident, the motorman alerted GRP and said the passenger was standing under the new bridge on the Kalyan side of the platform when he suddenly felt dizzy and slipped through the gap. 'He was trapped and suffered injuries, and was in a critical condition. Passengers gathered around him in the evening rush hour. Police staff, Home Guards, RPF staff present were deployed to help. After instructing the station master and the motorman to keep the train stationary, they pulled him out,' said Yadav. But he did not move and was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in a private rickshaw, added Jadhav. 'He was declared dead on arrival,' he said. 'On searching his shirt, we found an army canteen card identifying him as Sanjay Jagjappa Matange. The card also specified that he was 100% visually impaired,' said Yadav.
