UCLA-LSU game at CWS suspended due to rain, will resume Tuesday with Tigers leading 5-3
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The College World Series game between UCLA and LSU was suspended Monday night after steady rain and lightning moved into the Omaha area.
The game will resume on Tuesday morning.
LSU led 5-3 after three innings when the grounds crew rolled out the tarp as storm clouds moved over Charles Schwab Field. Rain had fallen for about three hours when the NCAA announced the game would resume at 11 a.m. EDT.
UCLA scored three runs against Anthony Eyanson in the first inning. The Tigers came back to take the lead in the bottom half with Jared Jones hitting a three-run home run off Landon Stump.
Jones' team-best 21st homer barely cleared the fence in right-center and put LSU in front 4-3. The Tigers added another run in the third.
The UCLA-LSU winner will advance to a bracket final Wednesday. The loser will play Arkansas in an elimination game Tuesday night.
More than 20,000 turned out for Monday night's game, which followed Gage Wood's no-hitter in Arkansas' 3-0 win over Murray State. Among fans cheering for LSU were Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes and his influencer girlfriend Livvy Dunne. Skenes was the 2023 Most Outstanding Player when LSU won the national championship.

PALESTINE, Texas (KETK) – Anderson County Judge Carey G. McKinney has declared a local state of disaster for the county after severe weather flooded parts of the county last week. Major flooding in Palestine as 3 inches of heavy rain drops McKinney declared the state of disaster in order to activate Anderson County's emergency management plan that will help them recover from property damage done by storms and flooding from June 10 to June 12. 'The Judge of the County of Anderson has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property,' McKinney said. Palestine Police Department Chief Mark Harcrow said the city got at least three inches of rain in an hour during the storms. The disaster declaration will last for seven days unless extended by the Anderson County Commissioner's court. Local farmers struggle to plant due to rainy weather
Litchfield Township, Pa. (WETM)— This season of heavy rainfall has caused local farmers to have to put a pause on planting. 'The rain has prevented us from getting crops in as early as we like the wet, cold winter and then the rain, rain, spring, so it just delayed everything, and you can't get in the field when it's too wet,' said Matthew Romberger, owner of Romberger's Farm. Free household hazardous waste event to be held in Troy Farmers from all across the area are waiting for the soil to dry so they can continue planting. 'I just spoke with a person this morning, and the gentleman usually has 100 acres of corn in and he was only able to plant 4,0, so he's behind schedule because of the wet weather,' said Romberger. According to Matthew Romberger, the Romberger's farm is about a month behind its regular planting schedule. Upcoming summer blood drives in the Southern Tier The crops that grow on the farm also serve as food for the animals, such as cows and pigs, that live there. 'We raise a few crops, and we raise, like I said, seasonal vegetables and potatoes, sweet corn, and stuff like that, but crops also, crops we feed the cattle and the pigs. We raise pigs,' said Romberger. The only thing that the farmers can do at Romberger's farm is wait for the soil to dry and the rain to clear so they can continue their planting.
