During an operation focused on promoting road safety and law enforcement on the Bethal Road, women in blue conducted a roadblock.
'During the operation, several illegal immigrants were arrested and traffic fines were issued to motorists for various traffic violations, ensuring safer roads for all commuters,' said police spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall.
Colonel One Thobejane, the acting station commander of Witbank SAPS said, 'Operation Basadi is a key initiative to not only enhance the safety of our community but also to empower and showcase the dedication of our female police officers during Women's Month. We remain committed to protecting our community and ensuring compliance with the law.'
SAPS Witbank will continue with similar operations throughout the month to maintain law and order and encourage responsible driving.

A man is on the run after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend and wife in a double femicide in Lusikisiki. As South Africa marks Women's Month, an Eastern Cape man is wanted for killing his reportedly pregnant ex-girlfriend and then going home and shooting his wife while she slept. According to reports, the suspect first shot his ex-girlfriend at a tavern in the Chithwayo locality before he then proceeded to his home in Unity Park. He then allegedly shot his wife while she was asleep. The suspect fled the scene in the family's vehicle, which police later discovered abandoned. According to the South African Police Service (Saps), over the past year, the Saps Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit has made significant inroads in tackling GBV and related crimes. In the wake of a brutal Gender-Based Violence attack involving two women who were torched by a man in Kwa-Guqa, another woman died in hospital after enduring the same. Captain Vusi Mnisi, spokesperson for the Vosman Police Station, confirmed that on the evening of August 2, police officers were summoned to Witbank General Hospital, where they were directed to a woman from Vosman who had severe burn wounds all over her body. 'Upon preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the woman was poured with petrol by her boyfriend and was set alight,' Mnisi said, adding that the suspect has already been arrested and investigations into the case are underway. Online dating turns horrific: Pretoria man faces rape and murder charges
A 37-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Central Magistrate's Court for allegedly raping and murdering a woman he met through an online dating platform. The suspect is linked to at least 10 rape cases and is believed to have used Tinder to lure his victims. He was arrested during a joint police operation in Limpopo on Monday, 4 August, and is facing multiple charges, including rape, murder, and defeating the ends of justice. According to police, after raping and killing one of his victims, he buried her in a shallow grave at his residence. The case was brought to the attention of authorities, and a thorough investigation was launched. The Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, urged the public to exercise caution when meeting people online. 'As we celebrate Women's Month, let's remain vigilant and mindful of who we associate with.
