Megyn Kelly slams Trump administration over Epstein scandal and warns them: 'You reap what you sow'

Daily Mail29-07-2025
Megyn Kelly has no 'sympathy' for the Trump administration after it came under heavy fire over its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein crisis.
Speaking on Monday's episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Kelly said it was 'hard to have a lot of sympathy' for the administration due to its numerous missteps on the issue.
She specifically pointed to Attorney General Pam Bondi's decision to issue a memo insisting Epstein did not not have a 'client list' and killed himself in jail.
'Whoever told the [Justice Department] that this could somehow be buried and that people would move on and that the Trump administration could get away with that ridiculous two-page summation of "You're not getting any more information because there's no there there" should be fired,' Kelly said.
'That person is an idiot and didn't understand the Republican base - certainly the core MAGA base.'
Kelly noted that Trump appointed Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, two outspoken supporters of the theory that Epstein was murdered in jail to protect his powerful associates, to lead the FBI.
'And by the way, of course [the MAGA base's] hackles have been up and their interest in this story has been at a peak in large part because of the two men Trump put in charge of his FBI - you know, there were no bigger proponents of there being more to the Epstein story than Kash Patel and Dan Bongino,' she said.
'And it's actually one of the reasons why the Republicans were so thrilled to see them get put in charge of the FBI. So, you reap what you sow.'
Kelly went on to comment on Epstein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently speaking with investigators from her Florida prison.
The former Fox News host branded the move a weak attempt by the administration to get on top of the scandal, while also calling its bid to release grand jury transcripts from Epstein's criminal proceedings another empty gesture.
Trump made the move knowing the court was not likely to release the transcripts, Kelly claimed.
As for Maxwell, she said: 'Can we really trust anything this woman says when she - it's either this: give something up or someone up, or spend 20 years in jail?
'So, they've really created this own pickle for themselves and we still haven't had a presser by Pam Bondi or even a long-form interview.
'So, it's hard to have a lot of sympathy for the complaints of why won't this go away.'
The Justice Department memo enraged many in the MAGA movement, who have criticized the administration for what they see as backtracking on past promises to release classified information pertaining to Epstein's case.
As calls from Congress for more information increase, Trump has attempted to deflect the controversy - dismissing it as a politically driven 'witch hunt.'
Asked about the case during a recent Oval Office appearance, Trump said: 'I don't really follow that too much,' before turning to unrelated claims about the Obama administration and Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The case is also causing political pushback for Republicans in Congress, including House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Epstein died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal child sex trafficking charges. His close associate Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for facilitating Epstein's abuse of young girls.
Trump was friends with Epstein for more than a decade. They had a falling out surrounding Epstein 'stealing' some of Trump's hired staff, the president claimed Monday.

‘Former Russian America': Ex-Trump adviser tells CNN that for Putin, Alaska is next best thing to Moscow for summit

Former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton appeared on CNN on Friday night, comparing the meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to Trump inviting the Taliban to peace negotiations at Camp David. Trump announced on Truth Social earlier that the 'highly anticipated meeting' would take place on Friday, August 15. 'It's very gracious of Putin to come to former Russian America for this summit,' a sarcastic Bolton noted. 'This is not quite as bad as Trump inviting the Taliban to Camp David to talk about the peace negotiations in Afghanistan, but it certainly reminds one of that.' Trump later canceled the talks with the Taliban in September 2019. 'The only better place for Putin than Alaska would be if the summit were being held in Moscow,' Bolton added. 'So, the initial setup, I think, is a great victory for Putin. He's a rogue leader of a pariah state, and he's going to be welcomed into the United States.' He went on to argue that the situation 'is sliding very quickly in Russia's direction.' 'We're not quite back at February the 28th, in the Oval Office, when Trump told [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, 'You don't have any cards.' But what's happening is that Russia and the United States are discussing what terms they're going to present to Zelenskyy, and it may well be that Zelenskyy has no choice here,' he added. 'Surrendering is always one way to get a peace deal.' Bolton suggested that 'even without the meeting, Putin's got his old magic back with Trump.' 'All that disappointment, all that outrage … now you're talking about a deal between Trump and Putin? Think of the press that will get. I have to say, from the strategic perspective, from the U.S. interest perspective, this was not a good day,' said the former U.N. ambassador. Host Kaitlan Collins noted that Putin can't go to Europe for a meeting, as there's an International Criminal Court warrant out for his arrest. Bolton argued that they could have met in Vienna or Geneva, where Putin met then-President Joe Biden in 2021. 'They're basically considered U.N. cities, and the ICC warrant could have been waived, and I don't think anybody would have objected, frankly,' he said. Bolton said, 'If Trump really wanted to get an equitable peace deal,' he could 'certainly listen to what Putin had to say.' 'But they're doing a lot more than listening. They could receive the material and send it to Zelenskyy, and hear what he thought of it first,' he added. Bolton, who served as national security adviser during Trump's first term, said, 'This sounds an awful lot' like the peace plan proposed by Vice President JD Vance during the campaign last year. 'Russia keeps all the territory it currently holds, a demilitarized zone, maybe with a peacekeeping force on the Ukrainian side is set up, and Ukraine pledges not to join NATO,' said Bolton. 'If Ukraine agrees to a ceasefire here, it's agreeing to its new border with Russia, effectively. I think this is a very dangerous point for Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian government.'

Donald Trump posts video of UK 'free Tommy Robinson' march saying 'amazing to see'

The US President posted footage of a far-right march that took place in July 2018 - during his first term - which coincided with his visit to the UK Donald Trump posted a video of a "Free Tommy Robinson" march chanting his name on social media, saying it was "amazing to see". ‌ The US President posted on Truth Social footage of a far-right march that took place in July 2018 - during his first term - which coincided with his visit to the UK. ‌ The post came shortly after Keir Starmer told Volodymyr Zelensky that he had Britain's "unwavering support" - following the Ukraine president's angry rejection of Donald Trump's proposals for a deal to end the war. ‌ It's an acutely sensitive moment for relations with the US, as Europe risks angering the US President by standing firm behind Ukraine's refusal to give up territory following Putin's illegal invasion. The video shows a crowd of a few thousand people on Whitehall chanting "We Love Trump" as a speaker on stage declared the "deplorables" of the UK backed him. ‌ Trump sparked shock and anger during his first term by retweeting videos made by Jay Fransen, the leader of Britain First. And his former adviser Steve Bannon repeatedly called for Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon to be released from prison, while he was locked up for contempt of court after making false claims about a refugee. And it was reported at the time of the rally that Sam Brownback, Trump's ambassador for international religious freedom had raised concerns over Robinson's safety in prison with the British ambassador in Washington. ‌ Get Donald Trump updates straight to your WhatsApp! Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday rejected the idea that his country would give up land to end the war with Russia after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested a peace deal could include "some swapping of territories." Zelensky said Ukraine "will not give Russia any awards for what it has done" and that "Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier." The remarks came after Trump said Friday that he would meet with Vladimir Putin even if the Russian leader would not meet with Zelenskyy.

Russia is running ‘slave catalogue' of Ukrainian ‘orphans' with kidnapped children ‘treated like animals'

The profiles can be searched by hair colour, eye colour and even "personality" in the latest twisted move by Mad Vlad Putin's regime. But campaigners insist many were forcibly taken from their families, re-registered under Russian documents and are now being "matched" with Russian families as if they were animals in a pet shop. Mykola Kuleba, head of Save Ukraine, described it as 'digital trafficking' and a 'slave catalogue'. He warned: "This is not adoption. This is not care. This is digital child trafficking, masked as bureaucracy. "These children are not 'war orphans'. They had names, families and Ukrainian citizenship." According to The Times, the depraved search tool reportedly allows users to filter children by age, gender, health and physical traits - even by whether they are "calm" or "active". The portal is run by Luhansk's so-called Ministry of Education and Science — part of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), a Russian-installed regime in territory internationally recognised as Ukrainian. While some of the children listed were born after Russia seized the area in 2014, Kuleba says most were born before occupation and held Ukrainian citizenship. Kyiv says the catalogue is just the latest stage in Moscow's mass child-snatching campaign — a programme that Ukrainian officials claim has seen tens of thousands of minors abducted since Putin's full-scale invasion in 2022. Yale researchers, UN experts and legal bodies have said the deportations could amount to war crimes. Nazi lies, Vlad's propaganda & troops on border… chilling signs Putin ready to invade ANOTHER European nation after Ukraine In 2023, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Putin and his children's commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova, over the illegal transfer and adoption of Ukrainian children. Russia has long defended these relocations as "humanitarian" - but Ukrainian officials and returned captives tell a far darker story. Survivors have described being beaten, starved, locked in basements, forced to sing the Russian national anthem, and banned from speaking Ukrainian in re-education camps. Some say they were told their parents had abandoned them. 9 Pictures show children inside Russian 're-education' camps in a bid to rid them of their Ukrainian heritage Credit: Bring Kids Back Ukraine 9 A chamber in Kherson where Ukrainian children were allegedly abused Credit: Security Service of Ukraine 9 Vitaliy was held at a camp in Yevpatroia and spoke of horrors he saw after begging to be released from an isolation cell Credit: BRING KIDS BACK UKRAINE 9 One 11-year-old, Illia, was forced to have shrapnel removed without anaesthetic after he was snatched by Russian soldiers Credit: BRING KIDS BACK UKRAINE Earlier this year, Moscow announced plans to send 60,000 kidnapped Ukrainian children to remote summer camps in the wilderness - a move critics see as deepening indoctrination. Ukraine's presidential adviser Daria Zarivna has accused Putin of 'weaponising' these children, warning they are being groomed to fight for Russia in future wars. She told The Sun: 'It's a threat to global security, to Ukraine's security.' Lvova-Belova - dubbed "Putin's childcatcher" and sanctioned by Britain for her role in the abductions - has openly bragged about "adopting" a boy from Mariupol. 'I was snatched by Russian soldier' ILLIA, 11, was deported from Mariupol after a Russian missile strike killed his mother and left him with horror shrapnel wounds when he was nine. His neighbours buried his mum's body in their back garden before he was snatched by Vlad's soldiers and taken for surgery at a camp in Donestk. The shrapnel was removed without any anaesthetic and he was forced to write and speak Russian and repeat "Glory to Ukraine as part of Russia". He says Russian forces tried to turn him into a "propaganda tool" but that he is not "one to be duped so easily." Illia's grandmother had been searching for her grandson ever since losing contact with her daughter in March 2022. It wasn't until they spotted the young boy in a video from Russia that she realised he was alone and that her daughter had been killed. His grandmother never gave up hope and set about getting her injured grandson back home where he belonged. Months later, Illia returned home to Ukraine and had further surgery to remove more fragments from his leg, while 11 remain. His grandmother Olena said: "He had a school, he had a home, he had a mother and he lost all of that - his entire childhood. "He kept to himself, he was afraid of noise, he was afraid of sirens. He had no memory. He now has dreams of becoming a doctor so that he can help fighters on the frontline as a combat medic. She is accused of overseeing the heartless bureaucratic machinery that strips Ukrainian children of their identities before placing them in Russian homes. Kyiv's Bring Kids Back Ukraine initiative has so far rescued nearly 700 minors, but thousands remain missing. Officials say no peace deal will be struck with Moscow until every abducted child is returned. 'This is genocide,' said Ukraine's Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets. 'These children are not commodities. They are victims of a brutal campaign to erase our nation's future.' 9 Putin meets with Russia's Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova Credit: AFP
